I find the best combination to learn how to play a game is a mix between reading the rules, watching your videos and running a play test. Yesterday we had a little argue playing the game. The rule dispute was.
I had "Mountain Giant" (this monster count as a leader) and my
regular leader in the same province. I initiated a pillage. And i won.
But on my clan sheet i also had the leader upgrade card: "Lord of
Spears" (If you successfully pillage with your leader, raise all your
clan stats by 1")
And here is where the conflict start. I think i should have first
the reward for winning the pillage. But also dubble reward of the card
"Lord of spears". Because i have 2 leaders in the same winning battle.
However they didn't because the card says "leader" not "leaders". But
that's is because you normally can't have 2 leaders at the same time.
This is an exclusive combination.
So what do you think Rodney Smith?
+Goratchthemule In Blood Rage the Lord of Spears effect CAN stack if you have two leaders at the same location. I just checked with the designers.

Wow. The graphic design in this game is really well done. The iconography, the symbology, the color scheme, the color coded cards, the information in the mats, etc. they are all really well thought out, top notch design. I know of many games that could benefit from a fraction of it.
+TheMrE I avoid reviewing games, but I will break that rule just a brief moment to say that the amount of helpful information on the components to facilitate game play is fantastic.
*Crusaders, thy will be done* is another shining example of this ethic.
Another great video. Makes the game seem relatively easy and approachable. I recently played this at a con with an experienced player showing us how. This video helped to clarify a few items that we missed and makes me want to play it again.

Thanks Rodney! A clear and concise explanation, as ever. We finished our Blood Rage/Myth battle (Odin seemed to be drunk, and kept rolling 1s when trying to call forth a tree, thus creating small plants), and will actually play the game tomorrow.

To the point. I find the tone to be exactly what it needs to be. Things are in an order that makes sense... Damn, even if I look for something I didn't like or would change, I can't name or point to any! Greatly appreciate it and I want to emphasize that I fully recognize it's value as a fellow person who teaches/explains for a living. I love this saying: "You're NOT paying FOR the 30 seconds it took me to do this job, you're paying me for the 15 YEARS I trained to be able to do THAT job THIS WELL in THIRTY seconds". Got this with the fifth player expansion and the Mystics Of Midgard expansion for Christmas. Looks like a lot but it's actually very easy once you get the hang of it. After one or maybe two plays you'll be fine if anyone is intimidated by it. Thanks to Rodney for once again giving us a great video. Keep up the good work and happy new year. PS I'd love to see this two player game against you and Luke. I enjoyed your Kemet videos a lot and this would be cool too.

Love your videos Rodney, I always find them very informative and this one helped me realize I made a HUGE mistake. I don't know why but at the end of each age we cleared the board so we all started with no units on the map. UGH!

My group should be playing this on Saturday and I can't wait. It almost seems similar to 7 wonders. A pretty straight forward game to play, with enough strategy to stay engaging and not overwhelming.

I'm more of a learn by doing person and if directions aren't done right then I'm just lost. I was wondering; would it be possible for you to do a video on Fury of Dracula (3rd ed.)? I got it a month ago and read the books and still don't really get it. I get the sense of it being a Letters from Whitechapel/Eldritch Horror hybrid. It would be awesome to see this on How To Play. Having just recently got back into the hobby after many years away, I frantically watched dozens of random videos of the various games that I had discovered and became interested in purchasing. Hey, I was away from the hobby for many years for awhile there too (before starting this channel) - it' was great to rediscover the hobby, and I'm glad you are too!
@@WatchItPlayed Nice to know I'm in good company! I'm really enjoying the discovery of all these "modern" board games. I've missed out on so much! Previously, I was an avid collector of, what would now be considered, "vintage" board games, primarily from the era of my childhood in the '70s and into the '80s, although I do have a few from the decades on either side of those. With the rise in popularity of computer/video gaming in the '90s and '00s, I had presumed that board gaming had become a lost art. How wrong I was and I've been delighted to see that it has not only survived but is absolutely thriving and becoming increasingly popular. I've certainly got some lost time to make up for. excellent video. I really enjoyed it. Gave a good sense of how to get started on the game. I would have liked a brief look into some of the card abilities and get a sense of the depth of the drafting. Overall wonderful and if I ever get the game I would certainly ask everyone to watch this video before playing
