Absolutely brilliant set of Musicians 👏🏿👏🏿Thank you so much for the video. Rest In Eternal Power Itinually Maestro Wayne Shorter ☥ Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤
I saw this band, so exciting, everything was so innovative, Wayne's writing was so fresh and singular. My favorite time seeing Wayne, the energy was just so high.
Saw this band in Boston on a double bill with Chick Corea Electrik Band; a musically life-changing concert, this band every bit as tight and brilliant as the Electrik Band. Love Tom Brechtlein and Gary Willis!
Lot of comments on here about Tom Brechtlein and a few about Gary Willis, both of whom are phenomenal, and somewhat unsung, players. For me, the real sleeper is Mitch Forman, a stone-cold genius who is content to just be supportive; a brilliant synthesist, composer and arranger and a s**t hot pianist. His solo album from around this period, Train of Thought, is a gem.
Proving once again Wayne is a national treasure!!!!...and look at this face....85 going on 45 God bless you Wayne You've been my Coltrane forever anyway!!!!TOMMY MPLS.
I hate it when Wayne stopped playing jazz and started playing pretty music. I felt the same about Miles. But they had to appeal more people and make more money. Boring.
New material for me. Superb unexpected intro from the rhythm section. Especially like the drumming. My favourite Miles quintet featured WS between 65-69. I’ve only recently picked up WS’s remarkable, labyrinthine trail. Love the segue into ‘Footprints’.
INTERPLANETARY! No time stamp could do justice to this one! Aesthetically exhilarating. Didn't know how lucky were in the 80s. After all the lengthy accolades I wrote disappeared from here, I distill and titrate that this band is engaging a noble effort performing Shorter's compositional repertoire. The music borders on and encompasses advanced, sacred, cosmic evocations to a higher power, or whatever is out there...the next logic(al) steps in a scientific, intelligence in music. Gifts of earnest supplication to all who would hear and feel, honestly. World- Class universality and internationality personified; what was NEXT, even up to now. Romance! This period was a signalling kernel for albums such as"The Galactic Age" with the group Haru, and Victor Bailey's "Bottoms Up"; the original kernel 32 being Miles' late 60s onward with a covalent tangent being Weather Report, and Herbie Hancock, etc. Thanks again Wayne and Crew! Dig the Sun Ra (and certainty Zawinul) musical salutes by the remarkably original genius Mitchel Forman.

Great playing by a living Legend and his band, though there is some kind of exciter effect or something applied to the saxes that, maybe in 86 they thought it was really cool, but it does much more harm tan good to the final sound, i think

Tom Brechtlein so right here! Down to earth and responsive in this special time period, the ’80s.
he has got some serious chops.
First time hearing of him! He's very STEADY, tight 👌🏿👌🏿
Rest in eternal peace ❤❤🕊🕊
Wayne simply shows range others don’t have!
I've gotta say Tom Brechtlein's drumming sounds incredible.
He was in his prime here!!! Went on to
Play with
Al Di Meola after this Wayne Shorter gig!!!
Agreed. Superb player. He also played with Corea; I think he's on Tap Step.
I was there at the North Sea Jazz festival '86 - great concert - I thought Mitchel Forman was realy super in this band.

Definitely a fine collaboration here. The keys are right there with Shorter at every turn.
The best concert ever, for me. Fantastic performance at Kristianstad Jazz Festival 1986.
