Miyajima: SO BEAUTIFUL! Deer, Torii in the water, Mount Misen - Japan vlog

  • Miyajima is an island near Hiroshima with a torii in the water, wild deer and a mountain. One of the most beautiful places in Japan, and I left a tiny piece of my heart there!
    Miyajima is so beautiful! The main sight is the red Japanese gate / torii in the water, which is part of Itsukushima Shrine. When the tide's in, it looks like the shrine and torii are floating in the water, then when the tide goes out you can walk right up to the gate.
    There's also a mountain with a ropeway (Mount Misen), shops with street food and souvenirs, Momojidani Park and wild deer on the streets. And there are so many amazing views, especially as the sun starts to go down.
    Miyajima is a good day trip from Kyoto. It's about half an hour from Hiroshima on the train, or 2.5 hours from Kyoto on the bullet train. We combined it with Hiroshima in one day, but you could easily spend a whole day in each place.

    I went there two weeks ago and spent a night. It is peaceful and beautiful. One of my favourite places in Japan and wish I could stay there longer. Early morning and night time in there offer serenity and soul searching moment.

      One of the most beautiful places I've been in Japan! That must have been lovely - I'd heard it's very peaceful once all the daytrippers have gone home.

    My Sock Monkey really liked this video...he says "Deer hunter's paradise!" Kidding aside...what a gorgous place. Very surprised there weren't more ppl as tourist spots are usually quite busy. You caught a good day on the mountain.

      It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip! I think we were in the off-season in general (early October) because most places weren't as crowded as I've seen in other videos/pictures.

    Did you go here for the day? Or could it be combined with a trip to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum? It looks amazing, and wonder if it's worth two days instead of one...

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  2 роки тому

      I went to the peace museum in the morning, then Miyajima in the afternoon, as a day trip from Kyoto. You could definitely spend the whole day in either place. It'd be lovely to stay overnight on Miyajima, watch the sunset and have the place to yourself when the day trippers go home!

    Love it! About to go there this weekend with a toddler... Stroller friendly or bring the hiking baby carrier ?

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  5 років тому +1

      It's probably the most beautiful place I've been in Japan! As I remember, you'd be ok with a stroller unless you want to go up the mountain - I think there are steps up to the cable car and Momijidani Park isn't all flat either. The trails at the top of the mountain would need a carrier. Otherwise you'd be ok looking round the seaside area, shrine and shops with a stroller. Have an amazing time! :-)

    I am going in November 2023 do I have to pre-book my ferry tickets

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  Рік тому

      No, you don't have to book them. If you have a JR Pass, the ferry's included in the pass - you can just hop on! (Just make sure you get the JR ferry, as there are two at the same port). They're very frequent.
