I went there two weeks ago and spent a night. It is peaceful and beautiful. One of my favourite places in Japan and wish I could stay there longer. Early morning and night time in there offer serenity and soul searching moment.
One of the most beautiful places I've been in Japan! That must have been lovely - I'd heard it's very peaceful once all the daytrippers have gone home.
@@cakeswithfaces here is some early morning video I have taken. Also thank you for your Sagano Romantic Train in Arashiyama. It helped me to plan my time in Kyoto. Keep up the good works. ua-cam.com/video/F4v6xyzCU0E/v-deo.htmlsi=b7S43I41BJ-bkM6e
My Sock Monkey really liked this video...he says "Deer hunter's paradise!" Kidding aside...what a gorgous place. Very surprised there weren't more ppl as tourist spots are usually quite busy. You caught a good day on the mountain.
It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip! I think we were in the off-season in general (early October) because most places weren't as crowded as I've seen in other videos/pictures.
Did you go here for the day? Or could it be combined with a trip to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum? It looks amazing, and wonder if it's worth two days instead of one...
I went to the peace museum in the morning, then Miyajima in the afternoon, as a day trip from Kyoto. You could definitely spend the whole day in either place. It'd be lovely to stay overnight on Miyajima, watch the sunset and have the place to yourself when the day trippers go home!
No, you don't have to book them. If you have a JR Pass, the ferry's included in the pass - you can just hop on! (Just make sure you get the JR ferry, as there are two at the same port). They're very frequent.
It's probably the most beautiful place I've been in Japan! As I remember, you'd be ok with a stroller unless you want to go up the mountain - I think there are steps up to the cable car and Momijidani Park isn't all flat either. The trails at the top of the mountain would need a carrier. Otherwise you'd be ok looking round the seaside area, shrine and shops with a stroller. Have an amazing time! :-)
Not very long - there are two cablecars with a mini station in between, each is only a couple of minutes. It's a good ropeway though with amazing views!
Cakes with Faces cool! Thanks! So basically I could have enough time to see all miyajima and last to get in the ropeway? I'm so excited I'm going next month! And I love your videos!!!
Thanks! Yes, you'll have time! I went there as a day trip from Kyoto: Hiroshima in the morning then Miyajima in the afternoon. You could easily spend the whole day just in Miyajima though. Have an amazing time!! :-)
@@cakeswithfaces A very beautiful place. We wanted to explore the island more and go up mount Misen, but we did not have enough time. We took the ferry from the peace park, it's a bit expensive but it's faster. The oysters were very good. Thank you for helping me back then with my questions.
@@cakeswithfaces Watching your videos brings me back to the time when we can travel and I was still planning for our honeymoon trip to Japan. It makes me feel like I am looking forward to our next trip to Japan, but it feels so far away. I hope everything goes back to normal soon.

Aw it's little cast is still on the tori gate!
Yes it's having an operation! In real life it was still beautiful and it didn't spoil it at all! :-)
I am going in November 2023 do I have to pre-book my ferry tickets

Love it! About to go there this weekend with a toddler... Stroller friendly or bring the hiking baby carrier ?

Can we bring food on the island from the mainland?
Yes, you can bring food - there are no restrictions! :-) There are snack stands and restaurants on the island too.
