I visited this island last year and I can really feel the vibe from your video! Thank you so much, always a pleasure to see you both 🪷🪷 your videos are the most relaxing
If you ever do go back, try staying the night. Sunset there is a totally different vibe and if you wake up early enough the next morning, you'll have the entire island to yourselves before the hordes arrive haha.
Great video - thanks 😍 I'm not sure that Miyajima deer realised how lucky it was - in all the videos I've watched it's the first thing on 4 legs you haven't eaten ! 🤣🤣🤣 😉
What a lovely respite from the usual shopping and jostling with the crowd in the concrete city 😊 Also the deers are too kawaii! Can't wait to see more!
You know exactly when to do a timely vlog drop! It's hot outside and I'm staying in to bed rot til it's bearable to walk to the park. For now, it's cozying up watching your Miyajima vlog. 😊❤🎉
Guys, im so in love with your youtube channel! Me and my husband love cooking while watching your videos, it's really inspiring. Love your style and sending lots of love from Brazil! You should totally visit south america!!!
I absolutely loved this vlog! It definitely captured what a strikingly beautiful day it was when you visited. That was a lot of oysters haha but it all looked so delicious! Can’t wait to see you both exploring Hiroshima.
I’m so happy your videos were recommended to me recently by UA-cam. You both are the most chill and best vloggers. Ralph’s photos are always amazing. Sam is gorgeous ! 🌻❤️ love from Florida
subbed! Glad your channel showed up in my feed. We are frequent travelers to Japan and have been to Miyajima a few times, but it's always nice to get more suggestions. We're about to do a trip similar to your Kyushu/Southern Honshu series, so thanks for the recommendations. BTW, I believe that the momiji manju you had is from Kimuraya (based on the kanji). They are a former cake shop (probably castella), so their manju is made from a sponge cake that is wheat flour based. Can't wait to be back! Thanks again for the series. BTW, If you're back in the area, Okayama and Kurashiki might be worth your time. Oh, and I hear the Anago meshi at Ueno, in Miyajimaguchi is supposed to be excellent. We're buying a bento to split on the island before we take the ferry. Aloha!
Aloha! Wow, thank you for such a wonderfully detailed comment. Happy to hear you guys are planning a Kyushu trip as well. If you're interested, we were able to visit a bit of Kitakyushu and Kumamoto in our other vlogs 🤍 And thank you for the recommendations! We definitely want to return to Miyajimaguchi one day for the anago. Will read up on Okayama and Kurashiki as well. Have a great trip, guys! 🙌🏻
@@RalphSam Thanks for the reply! I did see your other vlogs! The sake festival at JR Hakata was awesome! We might be back in March, so we're planning to make the festival and hanami. For now, we're fortunate that we'll catch the tail end of the Hiroshima Oktoverfest (lol ends in mid Sept. WTH? 😂). We're still trying to get to KitaKyushu during the wisteria blooms, but we plan to visit during this next trip anyway. We also enjoy visiting places off-season, when it's less crowded, case in point, the lines (or lack there off) at il FORNO del MIGNON blew my mind in your vlog! BTW, next time you're in Hakata station, you might enjoy the chicken skewers at Torikawa Daijin, Hakata. One in the station, and one a few blocks away. They had me at chicken SKIN skewers!!! Can't wait to go back! Good luck with the chanel, you guys rock!! Oh, Iwakuni is another great place for sightseeing, especially during sakura season. The Kintaikyo bridge is pretty cool, as is the castle and the ropeway to it. There are also many sakura trees in various parks and around the bridge. Oh, and you guys have to visit Hokkaido! So much great seafood and so many awesome places to visit. Aloha!
@@808mkduffer Haha didn't even know there was an Oktoberfest in Hiroshima! And same. Even though our Kyushu trip was during the cherry blossom week, there was surprisingly not too many people. Guess it's still not as popular as other Japanese destinations-- which we appreciate! There were sake fests in both Hakata and Kumamoto too. We did try a chicken skin yakitori at the Hakata station. I wonder if it's the same one you mentioned. Very chewy and tasty! Still trying to plan a Hokkaido trip in the future as well. All the best in your future Kyushu adventures! 😃🍻
Awww totally enjoyed this vlog, Miyajima Island is one place I have on my travel for Japan this year and I feel I would enjoy it a lot. Even if there were many people (hence you went at 12pm) it felt calm and some areas were an absolute treat like that smaller shrine on that hill.
Thank you so much! We personally recommend Miyajima 💖 Even though there were a lot of people, it didn't feel overwhelming. You could get around easily and still enjoy the island. The most crowded areas I would say are the popular street food shops.
Amazing, as always🐱💕 Question. Do you ever get nervous taking pictures out in public? I’ve missed so many great shots due to fear. Has that ever happened to you?
Thank you! Well, not really nervous. Maybe one time approaching a sumo wrestler. I think it comes with experience. Ive been a street photographer longer than a youtuber. Always helps to practice with intention. Shoot what you like often and enjoy the random conversations with strangers ✨️🥸✌🏽 then the portraits will follow
loved this! have you ever experienced food poisoning from oysters? I experienced it a few months ago (from an oyster stall in manila) and it scared me from eating oysters again :(
omg, sorry to hear that ☹️ unfortunately ralph was sick a few days later. we can't say if it was from the oysters, more likely developed acidity from overindulging in general. have heard a lot of horror stories about oysters though, so it's always best to play it safe. especially if you have a history of stomach issues.
Hi there! For this video, the photos were shot using an Olympus Mju ii film camera with Kodak Gold 200 film hence the colors. Appreciate your question 🎞🥸✨️
Haha we only have tourist visas ourselves. But since the Philippines is only a few hours away from Japan, it's pretty easy for us to visit often. 😊 You could also look into relocating to an Asian country close to Japan.
Thanks for your question. Ive always been a street photographer so Ive always had that curiosity with people. My tip is to simply ask if you can take a photo even in English, and when in Japan, I follow it with a smile, a polite bow and an "ii desu ka?" (is this okay?) while pointing to my camera. I try to make them comfortable. It may or may not be a success. Usually people are flattered when I take their outfit photo 😊✌🏽
A common phrase to use is "Shashin wo totte mo ii desu ka?" A shortcut is "Shashin ii desu ka?" which breaks down to "photograph ok?" Not as polite, but the locals will understand that you are probably not fluent and will appreciate that you tried.
Hello, May I share the most important news you will ever hear in life? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?
Oh, You went all the way to Miyajima but didn't climb Mt. Misen?⛰ That would be such a waste. The breathtaking view from the top of Mt. Misen is like being in heaven. In 2015, the "View from Misen Observatory" was awarded three stars by the Michelin Green Guide Japan. At the foot of the mountain is Daishoin, the oldest temple in Miyajima, whose "indelible fire" has been burning for 1200 years, giving a sense of history and mystery (it is the seed fire of the Peace Memorial Park's "Peace Lamp").
I visited this island last year and I can really feel the vibe from your video! Thank you so much, always a pleasure to see you both 🪷🪷 your videos are the most relaxing
So happy to hear that! We loved our day in Miyajima 🤍⛩️🦌 Thank you for watching!
Thks for sharing its very useful for planning our itinerary…decided to skip Tokyo this year and explore new areas around Japan
Thanks for watching! Hiroshima was one of our favorite trips outside of Tokyo. Kyushu is also underrated 🤍
If you ever do go back, try staying the night. Sunset there is a totally different vibe and if you wake up early enough the next morning, you'll have the entire island to yourselves before the hordes arrive haha.
We actually considered it! Would love to try that next time 💖
So many vendors. But they utilize local products in their offering surprisingly well. And they are well thought, efficient and refined even.
Definitely agree! Admire how much thought and care they put into serving local ingredients and dishes. 🤍
Love miyajima❤
Miyajima was magical ✨️
Ralph: MY LEG!!!
Gets me every time 😂😂😂
I dont even remember this anymore 😂😂😂 but thanks for the laughs ✌🏽😄
Great video - thanks 😍

Miyajima was the highlight of my first trip to Japan in 2007. Hoping to see it again when I go next year
Nice! What was Miyajima like for you back then? 😊
Lots of deer eating our maps and other bits of paper from our bags haha

Headed over in August! How long did you guys spend on the island if you don't mind me asking?
Can imagine it being beautiful in the summer! We arrived around 12pm and left around 4pm. 😊
Hi, did you visit on a weekday or a weekend? Just wondering since it looks quite busy
we were there on a weekday! lots more people in the afternoon
Where was that oyster sampler from exactly? I will be visiting soon! Thanks
it's called Kakiya on Google Maps 😊
@@RalphSam thank you!! 🙏
May I know when you went there? I couldn't find the month or date in the video or description. Thank you!
First week of April for spring 🌸 thanks for watching!
@@RalphSam Thankuu! but i dont see any sakura in ur video, I assume the cherry blossoms haven't bloomed yet or are already finished?
it was late this year! they started blooming first week april also

Hi! How many hours does one need in order to explore the famous spots in miyajima?
Hi! We would recommend around 3 hours so you can take your time and really walk around the island if you're not in a rush.
When was this video taken? I'm trying to figure out how crowded it will be when I go there in May :(
We went late March mid day and we were lucky it was a sunny day✌🏽 and it can be crowded
