I like how both shows display different sides of Tuco. BCS shows Tuco’s “good” side underlying all that insanity. He is like a mentally ill animal than the other demonic villains.
This scene is like watching a live bomb being defused
It pretty much is when you think about what Tuco wanted to do to them before Jimmy talked him out of it xD
The background music would actually fit for a bomb defusing scene, in which the defuser needs to stay calm knowing he's in danger and on a lot of pressure because one wrong decision and it's over.
And that's exactly what happens here.

Jimmy is the best lawyer ever, he saved their lives from a brutal death. Losing a leg is nothing compared to what Tuco wanted to do i.e that neck-tie thing.
They might even recover, which is a walk in the part compared to what cartels do. Might as well as buy them ice cream and massage their legs on the way, because that's nothing in comparison.
They didnt even lose thier legs they just had broken legs (nit that thats a small thing) but they will walk and skate board again easily. Hell alot of normal good skateboarders break thier legs anyway

Arguably, if you got a better lawyer than Jimmy, they wouldn't have nearly the street smart or talk to appease Tuco. Jimmy is a great blend of street smart and professionalism. To an extent.

@@3hutp They put themselves in this situation. Lawyer saved their lives.
@@FSAydogan Jimmy put them up to the whole scam. It could've gone wrong in many different ways.
To be "street smart" in my life experience mostly have a simple meaning- to be cunning, tricky and perfidious, which is not meaning of "smart" word. Anyway, im guess you are under 20 years old, or just immature, when you use that "street smart" adjective.
They were bad at choosing their targets before they met jimmy , it was only a matter of time until they targeted somebody who could catch them. Atleast with jimmy there the damage was minimized and potentially but doubtfully they may have learned their lesson
Seems like a reasonable guy
Much more reasonable than Lalo
Thats tuff. But fair.
Though, but fair.

Just remember who you are working for
Jimmy has utterly massive balls to negotiate with Tuco. Though I also love that in retrospect, there's a difference drawn between Tuco and Lalo as cousins as Tuco can be talked down and manipulated even while high as fuck on meth, whereas Jimmy can't exert any influence on Lalo in a similar way.
Well, Lalo is so much smarter than Tuco. Tuco is quite simple.

It’s his greatest quality. He would have never have gotten through all the adversity he’s faced and out of the situations he’s gotten into, without his ironclad faith in himself.
He’s a damn good lawyer, if he’s not anything else.
when did he say that in the video
That's a good thing about BCS. Saul doesn't start off as an incompetent, insecure and low self-esteem regular joe as many other characters start. Life might be hard for him, but he isn't stupid, and dude definitely has his pride and knows something about his worth and the quality of his job

It shows off that, in Breaking Bad, Tuco judged fairly in his mind. The guy couldn't stop speaking up and helping, so he knocked him the fuck out. Made him stop, and made the punishment fit the crime so to speak. Good retroactive development for the character.
3:36 "Walk home now, Bitch!" Tuco is the most hilarious yet horrifying character on the show.
The irony of it all is that Raymond Cruz (guy who plays Tuco) never wanted to play a horrifying character.

classic Tuco
I love how Tuco can actually be reasoned with to a certain extent despite being batshit insane.
Walt did the same to an extent.
So many smart things Jimmy did here. Perfect actually. He actually INTENTIONALLY started too low, so that he could start slowly raising their punishment to make it seem better and better to get Tuco to agree because he obviously wasn't going to sprain their ankles. Also, he targets what Tuco loves the best. Respect. He gains that respect through FEAR, yes, but Tuco wants to be scary and wants to be remembered because of it. Jimmy tells him that they fear him for life because of what happened today, and both of those things combined convince Tuco to go all the way down to just breaking a single leg on each one of them.
Jimmy became a legend within the cartel as the guy who talked Tuco down.
He wouldn't have talked you down tho, that's for sure
@@mastereppsreturns6586 oh boy are you wrong
Starting at 2:56 you can see Nacho gesture to Saul to watch. Think he does this to tip him off that Tuco likes an audience and it would be in his best interest?
nice eye
good catch
My conclusion was that Nacho concluded Saul put the 2 kids up to the scam because he saw through Saul's conscience while hard defending them and reducing the sentence. That's why he made Saul watch their pain because it was because of him that they got this.
I felt it was more like a gesture of "hey you're responsible for this you you better not look away"
Otherwise he would break other remaining legs too for him to watch it
I thought he was gonna beat Saul to the ground the second he offered the handshake like he did with Jessie when he offered him the money bag in BB
That was the point.
I think over the years Tuco became more deranged since then.
@@robertisham5279 I think his time in prison throughout BCS made him even tougher and more crazy
@@lobaandrade7172 And the drugs definitely contributed to it.
Jessie is not very good at persuading though.. That's the thing 😂
This is somehow simultaneously the most intense yet funny scene I've ever watched. The music fits in so well with the uncertainty that keeps it so terrifying to watch, throughout the entire scene I didn't know if Tuco was gonna punch Jimmy or kill the scammers. Great acting, great camera work, great music choice.
Hearing them flip-flop between panic and relief as their possible suffering is casually debated is some of the most hilarious shit I've ever watched.
Along with the fact that you have to negotiate with Tuco like he's a little kid is really funny
As sickening as it is to hear him break their legs, Tuco's joy at doing so actually brings a smile to my face. Not everyone can say they genuinely enjoy their job.

I love the shot when tuco tells his boy (who he beat to death a few years later lol) to STOP HELPING. And the shot almost makes it seem like hes talking to Saul in the middle, who's just trying to mediate two morons out of getting their tongues fashioned into ties. Makes you realise as much as Saul is trying to use his street smarts alongside his lawful demeanor to help the honorable man out of bad environments, he himself needs to stop aiding these criminals before he gets in too deep, at which point he cant resist the thrill of the con or even get out if he needed to.
Oh damn, that's genius
Wow... nice observation
Pretty much nonsense. If he didn't want to negotiate with Jimmy, he wouldn't. How do you people fabricate so much subtext out of two words? "Stop helping" was purely a reference to No-Doze's penchant for talking when he shouldn't, which eventually got him killed.
@@DaveDexterMusic lawyers inbetween thats all im gonna say sorry for irritating u
That's rather genius from that perspective to be honest.
Best lawyer ever. He can negotiate your rights in and out of the courtroom.
by the Hammurabi code I think Tuco was entitled to call their mother a bisnatch and rip them off of some thousands dollars. That's it. They never tried to physically harm Tuco or his grandma.
On the other hand, in this situation, Judge Tuco passed from killing them, to blinding them to breaking all their limbs, to one leg each. All considering, Jimmy actually saved the day.
I don't think it would have been adviseable to put their mom in the line
pretty sure its fit hammurabi code.
The code is fair, in the context of society at that time, not by today standard. In a nutshell, according to the code, if a peasant hurt another peasant in someway, the latter can do the exact same thing to the latter.
But if a noble, for example, broke a peasant arm, the peasant can't just break the noble arm. The noble just pay some fine in whatever form of payment to the peasant. By their standard, that is fair.
So, using that logic, Tuco is fair, in a twisted way, since the scammer is the peasant and he is the noble here.
@@neardarkroad1347 that makes sense. And probably was what Jimmy was aiming at: making sure that what Tuco would accept as payment, wouldn't be too much. Very fast thinking.
Chuck would be proud of Jimmy if he could see his brother's negotiation skills.
Nah he’d just be jealous and try to put him down
