I altered a Revell Titanic with balsa bulkheads weighted with lead when I was a kid. It was designed to sink. This was 1993 or 4. It worked great as I tested the theory and process in our bathtub. I tied a string on the front so I could sink it in my local pond and then pull it back up. One day, when I got bored and a little older, I decided to disconnect the string and just let it go. Somewhere in Westland, MI, USA there's a model of the Titanic laying at the bottom of the pond, sunk by a 16 year old me, 30 years ago. I still think about it. I also began by exploring the concept with a styrofoam egg carton laden with marbles as ballast. Good stuff. :) Thanks for sharing.
Must be a Michigan thing - I did the same in Dearborn Hts :)
Now you can search your model Titanic using a model submersible!
And 30 years from NOW, I'll somehow make my way to Michigan, find, and maybe raise the model depending of its state of integrity.
Maybe try to look for it
I’ll search for it and return it to the rightful owner.
I am so unbelievably glad someone remade this thing. I haven't been able to find it anywhere, the price is so ludicrous, so seeing it finally back in production is awesome! I'm honestly surprised no-one did it earlier.
But it's 130$
The toy I had as a kid was like 40$
@@17valleyforge76cough cough inflation
@@17valleyforge76count in inflation for that
Same here! I remember looking everywhere for this and not being able to find one for less than $500 or something outrageous near that price range.
Edit: It says it's sold out right now, hopefully it'll be in stock soon...
Give me the titanic model now
The fact that someone has made a new version of this is absolutely amazing, always been wanting one of these since I was a kid, and the fact its now a (More affordable) Reality makes this an all the more sweeter deal!
Hope to see the potential for other submersible ship models from this same creator!
Imagine one of the last survivors seeing one of these in a toy store in 1994. It would be the most garish and tasteless thing they'd ever seen. I have to have one.
I stumbled across Sam’s videos after searching something titanic related after rewatching the movie. I have always been so intrigued by the titanic disaster growing up. After discovering Sam’s channel here, I started to discover just how many other extremely interesting things from history related to ships/shipwrecks. Discovering this channel has led me down a rabbit hole of such amazing history that I didnt even know about. So Sam, thank you kindly for what you do and how you do it.
Now, if they could only have the funnels collapse and lifeboats launch, that would be really impressive!😊
@Anthroiaexactly lol
I have one that splits in half and it's funnels come off
@@PlushyWorld123nice! My titanic didn’t break in half so i cut a hole but small (you can’t tell theres a long small hole) and when it comes in contact with the water it comes off! I unfortunately have to glue the 2 halves back.
I am so glad that a company has decided to bring this model back. Throughout my childhood, I had done so much research on this ship and I was fortunate enough to see the actual artifacts from the wreck itself in person when it was on tour in Oklahoma. I have been wanting one of these models for a couple of years now, but like you, I didn’t want to pay such high prices. Thank you for sharing this video with everyone.
“It actually comes with its own iceberg” absolutely killed me 🤣🤣😂😅😅
I have been making models like this for about 5 years now. Modded already existing models. The fact these are being made makes me so happy! The submersible titanic is back!
As someone who loves the history behind Titanic I also really wanted that model! Also as someone who loves learning about Titanic and other disasters I've been really enjoying your channel, keep up the great work!
Hey Sam, excellent video again! I remember you making the original video about this model a year or so back and thinking how cool it was that such a historically accurate replica used to be made. That’s awesome that this model is being manufactured again now!
This was a really fun video to watch 🙂
Im very surprised that this model was brought back many many years later in modern day, new and improved. I will consider picking this up but this looks amazing and I love the detail and effort they put into the model and sinking process. Thank you Sam for sharing!
This is so awesome! Thank goodness that these are being made again since I never had one of these as a kid!
I've loved the Titanic since the 3rd grade!
I’ve always wanted a model like this you never seize to amaze me
He definitely never ceased nor ceases to amaze us all as well,
I imagine he's got some b-roll of his own bloopers and or incidentally swearing by way of accidentally on purpose that he will someday upload
I had no idea watching Sam's videos can induce seizures. . . but there are medications for that.
I want the titanic❤ and pan ❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve been fascinated with these models since I was young, I would go into antique stores to search for them hopefully able to buy one cheaply if the shop owner didn’t know its worth. Those days are long gone but I am glad to see them being recreated once more!
I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge of the Titanic. I have always been fascinated by the story of Titanic since watching A Night to Remember when I was young . I always appreciate finding more things that you point out on every episode. Keep up the good work.
Hi Sam! I adore your channel. You are so incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to put yourself through heck for our amusement (i.e. Bright Side). Thank you for clearing up the many Titanic myths that have been generated over the years. ❤
That list tho!!!!!
This is great! I'm glad that people are finally bringing this piece of nostalgia back.
I don't have 1ofthoseonesbutcanmyboyshaveitformyhome
I like your videos
I literally got excited for you when you said this company reached out to give you this new model. That’s awesome! I love the channel and have learned so much.
I love that the ship breaks there, separates me from the pack as Harland and Wolff intended
I almost had my hands on one of these way back in like 2009 or 2010. Insane to see how ridiculously priced they are nowadays. This will be the next best thing.
This is so neat! I love that they recreated such a cool model that brought Sam so much joy.
So happy someone remade the Titanic submersible, was trying to find some 3D prints online with no luck, even tried designing my own model. This just looks incredible to such a ship enthusiast, i love it!
I remember wanting one of these as a kid and I find it amazing that someone is producing more of these models and dreams came true
This is amazing! I have ALWAYS wanted to get one of these submersible models but I was too young at the time and got into Titanic too late..but this makes me excited! Keep up the great work Sam! ❤
That's an "odds against" story. Time comes when it sees fit. Kind of funny too that as this video started I was noticing how much your collection has grown in the background. Another neat addition to add to it. I had never seen or heard of the "Submersible Titanic" model before, so that was a nice intro to it. I am a collectibles toy fan so unique toys are always interesting to me. P.S. The good thing about the Submersible is that it can be raised.
In the past I've always wanted a Titanic Submersible Model, so far that I've even been scammed for it. I looked at the prices and I was not happy.
But then some legend has recreated the magic with this new version. Absolutely amazing. At least it dosen't cost £1000 on ebay.
Some day I could buy this remade masterpiece.
Hey great video, I just found your channel and have been watching all you videos. You have taught me so much more about the titanic and overall are just a great UA-cam keep up the good work👍
I have one of those gifted by a friend a couple of decades ago, when he visited the Winchester Mansion! Never opened, still plastic coated original box 🙂
Hi Sam! I initially considered purchasing one of the original sinking models off eBay when I first heard of it but decided against it, haha. I love your content! You tell me new things about the Titanic which I never knew and talk about parts of the Titanic story which I never see discussed. I appreciate you probably have a lot of video ideas to work on already but I have a video idea for you. I would love it if you made a video discussing the dogs on board the Titanic (I love animals, haha). You could discuss the kennel on board the ship, which passengers brought dogs on board, how they were treated, the planned dog show for Monday 15th April and the ultimate fate of the dogs. You could also discuss the myth of Rigel the big black Newfoundland dog and give your views on it. Great video as always!
I had always dreamed of owning a titanic submersible model growing up, until finally, a couple years ago, a kid in my neighborhood gave me one for free because it was slightly broken and missing all the funnels. I was able to fix it up, and I even figured out a way to modify it to make the stern come higher out of the water before it split up. I have since made some videos of it on my own channel, and it has been a dream come true for me.
I recently started to 3D model my own version of the Titanic submersible model to 3D print, but I just clicked on this video and saw that it's been done already! Great job!
I have always wanted one of these! I’m so glad that people are trying to recreate the model so that more people can have it without having to pay EBay prices.
I still have mine (though only with two funnels), it was probably my *favorite* toy as a kid. Seeing that it's potentially back is so exciting and I love it.
The only thing I really wish it would include are wooden colorized decks as the old one, without them it has such a plastic look compared to the old ones
I wish I had it as a kid, I would have LOVED it!
You should get the new one and compare their sinking side-by-side!
That's a cool model. There is a problem with this, the price. It cost $170 and if you get a discount would be $150. Not sure about any of you but that is way beyond acceptable pricing.
No
I love all history regarding the Titanic. Thank you so much for all the information you provide regarding this ship. It is fascinating!
I've been binging Titanic documentaries and just discovered your channel and am working my way through your videos. Excellent work sir! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion. I would love to own such a neat interactive model of the ship, so fingers crossed!
Thats amazing that they are making this model available again for such a wonderful price. Much better than one thousand dollars LOL!
149 bucks for a sinking 15 inch piece of plastic. You're out of your mind lmao. Thay thing is 35$ at best
There is other companies like print hive 3d and roller 3d and they are pretty good and they are at reasonable prices
You just opened up a doorway to my childhood. I had one of these things and it was the greatest toy ever! Only thing was the propellers and the funnels always broke free when it sank but it was still the best thing I had growing up
Always excited to watch any video you make bud!
Good luck everyone!
Love the giveaway! Bet I’m too late to participate.
Hope not 🤞🏻
Either way I have a question that I’d love you to cover on your channel. It’s something I’ve thought of for a while, never seen or heard it in any of the accounts of that fateful night. My question is: did they not try to use the ship’s incredible whistles to attract attention from the California, maybe even blow out some kind of SOS? If they did would it have been heard? Keep up the great work on your channel. So glad I found it 🙏✌️👊🏻
That’s a great question! 💪
I remember back a few years ago how bad I wanted one of these, but they were so expensive. It’s good to see this company has started making new ones
I'm currently bed bound but just wanted to say thank you so much Sam for your channel I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have you there to keep me going with my little time left on this earth. Thank you Sam
I remember seeing these when I was younger. Very very cool, thank you for sharing :)
Man, I remember dreaming about that sinkable model titanic when I was a kid, and asked for it for Christmas multiple times. Seeing the price now, I can understand why I never got it... It's amazing that there is a new version of it now. I'm sure it will sell very fast once people learn about it. Keep up the great videos!
It's so cool you can get a model like this without paying way to much money
Keep the amazing videos coming! Love your passion for not only Titanic but other ships as well.
I absolutly love this channel and its content keep up the great work!
That's adorable! I still have a 3-D puzzle model of the Titanic from years ago.
Awesome video! And awesome product! So happy I found this channel!
What a neat parlor trick that model has! Thanks for the great video. Keep up the awesome work!
Love the vids, found your channel not too long ago and i am glad I did
"The icing on the cake" great choice of words
I have never seen one of these before. I am so glad you were able to get one for this video. The detail of the ship looks incredible
That model is lovely. When I was young, I used to play with sinking the ship models of titanic and many other ships. I did that by my own with the cardboard and paper when I was a kid.
So glad someone finally decided to make these Titanic models again. So excited!!
I remember those old models as a kid! glad to see they are available again!
I remember that original model…used to have one! Thank you again Sam!
I've always loved sinking ship models, so hearing that someone is making a new one makes me glad!
This is so cool! Thank you for sharing! 😊 🚢
I love your videos whenever I'm sad. It always make me feel happy inside.
You have NO IDEA how much I've always wanted this model. I remember going to both a Border's and a Barnes & Nobles during the 2000's, trying to find one but to no avail.
I too, searched this model but was shocked to see the price. Thank you Sam for the new model :)
I never knew about the older model. What an amazing collectable. Thank you for bringing it to my attention 😀
Absolutely awesome to think that a new model of the Titanic actually sinks.😮
I’ve wanted one of the originals for a long time, definitely will look into this keep up the great work Sam!
Really interesting to see it getting remade. I vaguely remember the original ones when I was younger, but never actually ended up getting one. Somewhat nostalgic nowadays.
I didn’t know this kind of models existed! You can learn something new everyday! Nice video… thanks!
I hadn't actually seen these models before, they're great!
Greetings from WV! Love all your Titanic videos. I grew up fascinated about the ship as well and over the years have self taught myself every known fact about the ship and its officers/passengers. Would love to discuss Titanic with you one day. Keep up the great work buddy!
I’ve loved the Titanic since I was a kid! My birthday is actually April 14th so I feel like I have a real connection with the ship. I always wanted the original submersible model but those prices today are crazy! I’m so glad they’re making new ones now. Love the videos Sam!
Thank god someone remade this thing. I have been studying titanic since i was six years old, and I have always wanted one of these things. I would be absolutely stoked to have one! thanks!
I never knew that a model like this existed before even the original version. These are so cool. I remember I got this one model when I was younger it was just the stern part sticking in the air and an iceberg. I unfortunately lost the Titanic part a long time ago but I still have the iceberg which I used to use next to a revel model I have now
I've never had a titanic model before, it would be lovely!
Hey Sam I’ve watched you for 3 years now and I’m so excited that you are almost at 100,000!
My brother has always been intrigued by the story of the titanic at a young age, he always asks questions about the ship like "what are the watertight doors?" Or "why did the funnels collapse?". I couldn't imagine the look on his face if he had one.
I recall buying back in the early 2000 a Titanic model that sank at a Rhinebeck bookstore for like 30 dollar's.
Brings back fond memories.❤
Awesome!! Great video Sam. Definitely on our family's wish list!
That's awesome!! Glad it's being reproduced and affordable. Also thank you for sharing 😁
This is awesome!! So glad they came out with this model!!
I'm shocked that it's taken so long for someone to try to remake this. So glad they did!
Have been looking for this channel for weeks but couldn’t remember your name 😂 Love this content
It looks great thank you for posting this video and thank you to the company
Another great HT video! Can't wait for the next one!
I feel super lucky after seeing a couple videos about this specific model that I never threw mine away. It's in a storage unit atm but before then I always kept it on my shelf with my other boat models
This model looks really good! Its so cool to see this type of model brought back!
Awesome that they created a new model. Enjoy your videos and q&a
Wow that's incredible !
Thanks so much for this giveway event :)
I love this model! I am huge into Titanic and it’s history and have been wanting a submersible for so so long! It looks so cool. Love it!
Wanted the old submersible Titanic Model when I was younger! This is awesome to see a company bring it back!
That looks really cool, this is the first competition I've entered in years.
Wow! Glad to see we can relive our childhood. Such a neat item and experience!
I found out about this model only couple of weeks ago and was super sad they didn't sell it anymore. This is my perfect opportunity to get one!!
Omg! The model is awesome! And I love your channel. I’ve been a fan of titanic since elementary school reading about it in books there was a painting of the sinking that stuck with me and from that day I made sure to find something about the Titanic.
This is awesome. I have been dreaming of getting a model like this since I was a kid. I watched videos about it and even tried to make one myself. This is making me really happy.
Good to see a company keep these types of toys alive for younger folks.
I’ve been watching you for a few years. You are one of the best UA-camrs ever seen in all of history.
Great way to teach our grandchildren! Thanks for showing this. Highly recommend they look in to advertising with homeschool families. Many of us are big Titanic fans. I am a “retired” HS mom of 5 now adult children. We enjoyed our unit study on the Titanic.
Such a cool model. I’m glad that someone remade it.
