I would like to see an undisturbed dirt contest. In other words, take the three out on un-dug ground and pass through a plotted ares with all three detectors and make notes on what the detectors are telling you what is buried and how deep, etc. and mark them for each detector per target (unless a detector missed a target) then go back and dig all the target and compare the notes of each detector and such.
I purchased my Minelab Explorer II ten years ago and I would not change it for any other machine on the market today. I will admit that I have never used an Etraq, Deus or Ctx 3030 but in my metal detecting club these 3 machines are the most used machine. My point here is that I use an Explorer II and my find rate on club sites equals the above 3 machines and regularly beats them, there is an element of luck in this hobby which we all know some people have but what i think gives me an edge is the fact that I have stayed with one machine and learnt every aspect of it. I use the same program I put in the machine all those years ago. I won't be buying any of the above any time soon. I will stick with what I have because I know it works.
+250bm Same here ..I love using my Explorer 2 .....I just use some basic adjustments and crack on with detecting. No good rushing things when detecting ,I see so many almost running with their machines,I just take it slow and low ,take my time and listen to the tones carefully.
I think you're right. sticking to the same machine you get to know it like the back of you're hand. but I would say this in my own experience and opinion.. the Deus is rubbish its good for close together targets in the Iron but its a shallow machine. compared to Minelabs the Explorer ll is a beast. but then I Tried the CTX 3030. OMG it took me two years to fully understand it. I used it for like 4 month and thought yes I know the machine now and it seems a good bit of kit. then I kept detecting with it for a few more months and thought how wrong I was back then it's unbelievable now, and so on now three years later and I can honestly say hand on heart it is the best machine by far iv'e ever used its an absolute beast. if you ever get the chance to get one grab it with both hands. youll not miss anything with it
The sounds from the etrac freaked me out when in conductive multi tone. I tend to use 4 tone ferrous audio and the difference between rusted iron and good conductive targets is easy to identify. Especially on deep targets or iffy signals. But I suppose its personal choice.
Bought xo deus and sent back - enough said! Purchased ctx after owning an etrac for 2 years. Was disappointed that it was not "that much" better than the etrac overall for the money paid. I sold it after a while and purchased another Etrac. I know many detectorists who love their Deus and CTX and I know they have all found great stuff. My Etrac with the ultimate coil is my personal favourite. The Etrac has found me a gold coin, gold rings and numerous hammereds etc. I do not hate on any machine or person but I do recommend the etrac to everyone. For me it's the best all rounder out there. Awesome on beach and land.
I have the Ultimate Coil and the 18 x15 Detech coil. Both are excellent in fields and farmland. I have found many hammered coins etc. with them. They are both terrible on the beach on wet sand. I really do like them both but for the woods I would go with the Ultimate coil as the larger one would get snagged up all the time. For the beach on wet sand I would argue that the Nel Tornado is the best followed by the Coiltek W.O.T. If I only had one coil it would be the ultimate.
With regard of detecting in Czechia - absolutely fine. You do not have to ask for permission when hunting in forests/fields (as soon as there's no crop, of course). I did not try to ask for permission to hunt in some public parks yet. It is quite common that local detectorists work with archeologists/museums and at least announce all finds to them. If you decide to come, just let me know - would be happy to guide you ;-)
on the contrary my friend .. my last few hunts have been in that bog of a field behind my house .. but I would really appreciate seeing an etrac in action in my horse fields where I found the gold and georgian silver coins .. some of which came up from deep down with no numbers .. I am sure there are small silvers in there beyond my 11+ range . but should the etrac be able to locate these I can adjust the Deus to do the same .. via non motion .. etc . anytime suits.. I live in Keighley W.Yorks
i agree that depth isnt everything thats why in this test i have done the depth test plus 5 different scenarios where iron is placed next to coins plus the coin on its edge test...so in fact out of the 7 tests i did only one was about depth. as to the deus knocking the socks off any minelab on ancient sites, thats complete rubbish, i would be more than happy to take you to a several ancient site where they deus is almost useless and yet the fbs detectors work fine. thanks for your comment
With regards of detecting in Germany - I'm on an assigment (originally from Czechia) in Munich, Bavaria, hunting mainly in remote areas. Germans are quite suspicious folks and as non-German speaking I prevent any kind of encounters... Good thing on Bavaria is that it is one of three German states (out of 15) where you can share 50:50 with the landowner if you find anything of value. Just teamed up with Eartmansurfer, American living in Nurnberg as he is more experienced hunting in Germany...
Hi bro! Im really enjoy because Im etrac owner. I think you the 3 best detector of the world and the Deus, ctx can fix the coins too! Just a setting story! Sorry for my poor english, Im french you know. .. Have a Good time
the most predominant advantage is that it picks up high conductors allot better than the etrac, i have dug quite a few 11" - 12" deep targets with the ctx that i previously had missed with the etrac.
well guys i have to take back my argument and apologize .i got a deus a few days ago and i pulled out so many coins from the ground i couldnt even believe it .my ctx nulled over so many coins it was funny cause they were all near iron and when i took the deus out my eyes were opened and i had to accept defeat and take it like a man .i am not a deus xp convert and am selling the ctx .
@@ctx3030tv I can't wait. I started watching you years ago and I always thought the videos you do are no bull what you see is what you get not like some other videos out there, hyping up the machines. you know the machines you're using and giving viewers an honest test. anyway great to hear from you and best of luck ;)
your right charlie, but this was stock detector test, i have another video up with 13"coil. and i intend to do vid showing the best settings from you guys.
Nice ;-) We have exactly the same settings (my son's Deus and me, having E-Trac for quite some time plus brand new CTX3030) - what I found out during my tests over last weekend is that CTX3030 shows a way stable VID's over E-Trac. Ability to see multiple targets (I would emphasize SEE as if you go across strong iron signal along with good target CTX just nulls the threshold and you have to really see the display to be able to determine the good target).
I am a minelabber but i used and still use a deus too... I never heard from anyone nor myself that the deus is a depth monster .. I heard that on The etrac either .. But the targets you have burried ,with the particular depth , i almost dare to swear i could pull them out without trying too hard with my deus when i set it up the right way. Not here to bash you , you made a great test , and i really admire all your work to make this video happening .. But i am just not buying it , the deus could pick those targets up even with the 9 “ coil. On 11 khz, with the silencer at minus 1 , and reactivity on 2 ...( at least that works perfectly for me in general ground conditions for coun size objects ... And a couple of more adjustments those targets hit positive ..
have you tried using just 1 bare of discrimination along the bottom, that works really well for me. whats the detecting like in Germany/Czechia, i would love to try detecting on mainland Europe.
in the uk a lot of the old coins are so small and thin (0.5g) 18khz is very good for those type of targets. i have also found that on 90% of targets 18khz seems to give the best response, im not really sure why though.
I do hunt with a modified Andy Sabish'es coinshooting pattern (with a small window for gold opened when compared to the original) and 2nd screen wide open - same what I've had on E-Trac as QuickMask. Like the standard 5 tone, but definitely try to play with "combined" tones (have to read IM as I did not figure out how to change the tones...).
high as it will go, i believe that is essential to get the most out of it, sensitivity maxed out to normally. if you want a complete list of settings go to the MLO forum.
i dont normally use noise cancel because it changes the frequency of the detector so if possible i use the channel that is best for the type of target im hunting the channels that are best for hammy's are 1 to 4 so i normally use one of them. if im looking for gold i use 11 witch some call the noisy channel.
Too old to travel but you are welcome up here .. I have been thinking of doing a particular spot with an Etrac to see if the Deus missed anything .. set a date .. LOL .. GL & HH ... Ged .. I would be delighted for the eTrac to find something .. it would open up new territory after I bought one .. PS .. the etrac is a good machine.. the ctx3030 is a good machine .. the deus is a good machine. as are a stack of other machines .. but it is only etrac users who have this chip on their shoulder LOL
I do rely on both, my ears and visual, in fact. When we got Deus, we've tried all default settings and finally ended up with Deus fast on 11,7kHz. Can't comment it more in details - my son is using Deus most of the time...
the garret AT pro was my backup detector and your right they are good but in bad ground or coal infested places the etrac is way better. as for the coil the ATgold runs a 10inch DD coil opposed to an 11inchDD on the etrac so not much difference, the etrac/ctx kills the ATpro on depth in most cases. im very tempted to try the AT gold though.
i would say use a "tadpole" pattern or what i personally like is quick mask with one bar at the bottom. are you a member of MLO/minelab owners forum? if you want to learn more about your etrac get patterns and settings its probably the best place to go. my name is Tombs on there say hi if your ever on.
mmm ok much better test ...would like to see the deus pushed up to max on sensitivity has that really gives it depth ...also again the deus is at a disadvantage with smaller coil ..would hope to see better results with larger deus coil ..but all in all great vid well done
the deus was already on, i had been using it to check for coke before i started filming. good point though and out of 9500 people you are the first to point it out, well done.....but then you guys should know the deus.
i presume you hunt mostly by ear? i have tried the 11khz and 18khz over lots of types of targets before digging them best signal always has come from 18khz. but i hear allot of people saying that 11khz can be better i will have to try it again
great testing. always found test beds to be a good starting point to find the optimum for a machine. i spent a day travelling around farms just to get some difficult soil for my test beds! have a deus/goldmaxx and etrac/se pro if you can. bigger coil on the deus? The goldmaxx one didnt work well with lots of interference. as for the ctx improved etrac but impossible an arm rest, weight is wrong when digging holes. hard to sell! xp maxxxxed out always got the signal if just clicky. great work!!
Thanks for the video, surely you'd have to test the machines with the same sized coils though? The Deus is at a disadvantage because of the 9" coil... you can get 11" and 13" DD coils for it
i did do the test with the 13" coil as well. i wasnt really trying to make everything fair i was just testing the standard detectors against each other plus the 11" coil wasnt out at the time.
i see what you are saying about the frequencies but if you have to try out all frequencies then you have to try all settings also single frequency detectors do have some advantage over fbs .......in reality most of us hunt with fixed settings.......this is not supposed to be a fair test as in every detector set the same its a test of the detectors set to their individual best.
i cant tell you how the g2 will compare to the T2 but i do know that the T2 with ultimate coil is a killer, iv been using one for a few weeks and its a really good detector i would imagine you would do well with it
lol yeah you can heat it beep as i walk towards the camera....it was bad filming really i should have switched it on on camera, its amazing how hard it is to film something like this there are so many pit falls. thanks for your comment though it was a valued point and if i had switched it on on the ground that would negate the test. HH
I had an explorer II for a while. that thing was DEEEEEP. Just getting back into detecting now, got myself a 705, probably keep that and get myself an e-trac to go along with it later in the year. Nice vid, upvote for the pooch and little girl. I always wanted a daughter, still tryin to talk the wife into it lol.
Not really a test for the Deus unless they test all four frequencies ,the Deus works on one frequency at a time and you can alter the transmit power I believe ,, Both Minelab machines are Multifrequency , so not a fair comparison.although the Deus was on par with both the Minelabs and it was only useing one frequency ...
yeah it dose seem like it in this test, i think i had only had the ctx a few weeks at when i made this video and i have learned a lot about the ctx and what settings to use on it since then. i love the etrac but the ctx is defiantly better than the etrac......but it bloody well should be! im going to have to make a new video to show what the ctx can do with the right settings. cheers for commenting :)
i dont drink mate. the expert users are people off the deus and other forums that have spent may hours learning the deus and who where kind enough to send me their settings to try.
The old Explorer 1 and 2 would have found the 9.5 inch penny easily. I detect only on pasture because of the area I live. I bought a e-trac a couple of years ago and used it for about 6 months and compared it to my old explorer doing loads of tests. In the end, the old explorer won easily on depth (in my area) and therefore sold the etrac and bought a second explorer. I was thinking of buying a Deus, but after seeing this review I will need to do more research......as once bitten.....
+Steve Cocker ....I still use my Explorer 11 .I could quite easily buy another newer detector but I just find with a decent coil like my seff coil on the Explorer and a steady slow swing Don't seem to miss much.I am still amazed on what it will pick up and the depth and just I don't want to get rid of it.
i dont drink mate, i was referring to people off the deus and other forums who have put many hours into the deus and where kind enough to end me their settings.
I have still not bought any other detector as my old minelab and wot coil will take some beating. Wouldn't it be great if you could try out a detector for a week before you bought.......
i dont know much about the rutus im afraid mate, i do know the explorer is a good detector, personally i use a etrac or ctx, basically i the explorer is better on big stuff the trac small and the ctx does both. could do with some of your ratting skills here mate, they are driving me nuts and the 17HMR is to much for them lol
Etrac has best audio of any machine and yes it’s better than ctx 3030. minelab dropped the ball when they designed the ctx. You can tune etrac to make silver higher pitched than clad. It has best audio especially for high conductors
well pull out the best setting for the CTX in your estimation and do the same with Deus not easy , and the Deus amongst these two machines on one frequency is still holding its own, a good test bed you have there good effort..
the basic 1 program on the deus is very bad, I never use it. Here I would have used relic mode, pitched up the frequency to 18 and increased response. That would work I guess,
Last time out with my Deus my deepest target was a new penny at just under 11" no idea how it got that deep as had a George 'll farthing at only 3" in the same pasture. Funny old game this detecting lark.
I have many times been accused of foul play mate but the truth is I detect for a living.... I'm not sponsored by anyone or have any loyalty to any company the only thing I care about is using the best, as for not knowing where the targets are it would make the test less accurate because I would rely on chance more to hit the target right
Nice test,,good vid ...with that big e-track coil you shood be able to find coins on the other side of earth..... Try Garrett At Gold..goes very deep with a 1/4 of that e-track coil...i find small coins (10 ore sweden )deep on 25-30 cm... so for what minelab cost i am NOT impressed
On a budget - If doing pasture for the deep stuff get a second hand Explorer II and a second hand XP goldmaxx for arable land save lots of money.. u probably could get both machines for under £500
i had an etrac for a year and i heard every one talking about the deus so i bought one......after 100+hours and several hundred bits of coke that came in over 30 the etrac got promoted to number one again lol
i like this vid i now own a CTX preveously a SOV GT user some refer the soverighn GT as an E track on steroids that will be missed i think the GT could out preform the ctx on wet sand beaches inland i haven't seen a test. I would personally stick with a Sov GT over the deus and E-track. Its all down to personal chose :)
I really like the XP deus but I have to say that the minelabs surpass it in ground balance and noise cancellation light years ... I refer to the tests I have a x Terra 705 an etrac an excal 2 that I do not even count because I don't even use it and a ctx 3030 makes me angry that those are perfect doing the ground balance and canceling noise and XP no, I know they are fbs, fbs2 1,100khz minus xterra which is vlf ... also my other complaint that I have about XP deus is the damn ID again minelab is a winner here, I use the deus 80% for 5 years and minelabs use them 20%. More than 5 years ago I only used minelabs, if minelab were wireless and with adjustable frequencies from 1 to 100 in multi mode and single frequency mode at the user's choice, he would throw the deus in the field and would never look back. It is clear that XP is a smaller company with many fewer detectors and variants thereof and it is still learning compared to minelab, regardless of who it weighs, I love xp for its lightness, speed and portability, I am not faithful to any brand but it what i say is that minelab has better software and better R&D than xp and xp has better hardware than minelab. One last pickup, xp deus when you get a signal it will give you different sounds as you remove dirt from the target and that is unacceptable too. ID fails in both senses, numerically and by sound, these are things to take into account as a good detectorist, you will get more garbage with the xp at the end of the day if, in exchange for going more modern and lighter and faster, it is the fish that bites its tail, in short, two great brands that are really competing on the podium.
I have a deus and can tell you that basic 1 is shit. I only have it a few weeks i can honestly say it is the best i have had. Previous detectors i have owned are minelab sovereign pro.minelab sovereign gt tesoro silver sabre xterra 505. Not one of these beats the deus on pasture stubble or plough. But nothing beats the Gt on the beach.
not British hammered penny's it wont mate and i have tried plenty of settings most of them given to me by pro deus users. i always try to get the most out of my detectors and if the deus was capable of coming out on top in this test i would have shown it doing so....im not sponsored by minelab or anyone else and i dont care which make is the best as long as i have one lol.

Nice vid mate shame some people can't except the results 😃
One more note - here in Germany/Czechia we find 11,7kHz a best choice for coin hunting on Deus.
i presume you hunt mostly by ear? i have tried the 11khz and 18khz over lots of types of targets before digging them best signal always has come from 18khz.
but i hear allot of people saying that 11khz can be better i will have to try it again
great testing. always found test beds to be a good starting point to find the optimum for a machine. i spent a day travelling around farms just to get some difficult soil for my test beds! have a deus/goldmaxx and etrac/se pro if you can. bigger coil on the deus? The goldmaxx one didnt work well with lots of interference. as for the ctx improved etrac but impossible an arm rest, weight is wrong when digging holes. hard to sell! xp maxxxxed out always got the signal if just clicky. great work!!
Frequency of 18khz is for shallow tinny things like nuggets. You should use lower frequencies for deep items and coins.
A
ok i added a link in the video to some of my other tests both of which have the big coil.
cheers for your comment :)
i see what you are saying about the frequencies but if you have to try out all frequencies then you have to try all settings also single frequency detectors do have some advantage over fbs .......in reality most of us hunt with fixed settings.......this is not supposed to be a fair test as in every detector set the same its a test of the detectors set to their individual best.
i cant tell you how the g2 will compare to the T2 but i do know that the T2 with ultimate coil is a killer, iv been using one for a few weeks and its a really good detector
i would imagine you would do well with it
lol yeah you can heat it beep as i walk towards the camera....it was bad filming really i should have switched it on on camera, its amazing how hard it is to film something like this there are so many pit falls. thanks for your comment though it was a valued point and if i had switched it on on the ground that would negate the test.
Not really a test for the Deus unless they test all four frequencies ,the Deus works on one frequency at a time and you can alter the transmit power I believe ,, Both Minelab machines are Multifrequency , so not a fair comparison.although the Deus was on par with both the Minelabs and it was only useing one frequency ...
i found the same when i first used conductive but i would really urge you to give it another go.
i guaranty you are missing small deep targets.
yeah it dose seem like it in this test, i think i had only had the ctx a few weeks at when i made this video and i have learned a lot about the ctx and what settings to use on it since then.
i love the etrac but the ctx is defiantly better than the etrac......but it bloody well should be!
im going to have to make a new video to show what the ctx can do with the right settings.
cheers for commenting :)
Good test between the best machines
ah yes that can be a problem but an easily fixed one ill do a short video of how to set the et to solve that problem and to show how conductive works.
i dont drink mate. the expert users are people off the deus and other forums that have spent may hours learning the deus and who where kind enough to send me their settings to try.
+Steve Cocker I have the same feelings after using Explorer II.
Great idea to compare them all but very confussing video.
i dont drink mate, i was referring to people off the deus and other forums who have put many hours into the deus and where kind enough to end me their settings.
well i was talking about at gold only.) e-track outrun at pro,,,but at gold with its small orginalcoil..so for what minelab cost i am NOT impressed
Thanks for posting, Good information to digest. I too own both and like the both, just different machines
I have still not bought any other detector as my old minelab and wot coil will take some beating. Wouldn't it be great if you could try out a detector for a week before you bought.......
just by looking and listening i could only see one winner there the e-trac and i am neutral, best wishes
pat
This is like apples and peaces disk is lager of the Minelab (great detector)
Want to see the differance with the big coil of the xp deus :D
This would be a great test if done on a day with no wind.
good daughter, funny doggy! good luck for yuo and family! thks for video!
i dont know much about the rutus im afraid mate, i do know the explorer is a good detector, personally i use a etrac or ctx, basically i the explorer is better on big stuff the trac small and the ctx does both. could do with some of your ratting skills here mate, they are driving me nuts and the 17HMR is to much for them lol
What ist the best now?
That's a tough one to answer mate, where do you hunt?
@@ctx3030tv in a village on a field there is a lityle bit trash but also good coins (turkey)
@@halideuysal5049 stick with that mate, does everything you could want it to.
If you fancy a defector to add to it try the f75 or t2
@@ctx3030tv i bought already the ctx3030 :)
you didnt noise cancel the etrac
the basic 1 program on the deus is very bad, I never use it. Here I would have used relic mode, pitched up the frequency to 18 and increased response. That would work I guess,
maybe i just called it that because its a new detector and it would give me views? lol thanks for the comment
Try using deus with a custom settings and the new programs would like to see a fair result , basic on deus is what it says basic .
Last time out with my Deus my deepest target was a new penny at just under 11" no idea how it got that deep as had a George 'll farthing at only 3" in the same pasture. Funny old game this detecting lark.
thanks for trying to perform a comparison video. I would be more convinced if the hunter was blinded as to what had been buried, how deep, etc.
I have many times been accused of foul play mate but the truth is I detect for a living.... I'm not sponsored by anyone or have any loyalty to any company the only thing I care about is using the best, as for not knowing where the targets are it would make the test less accurate because I would rely on chance more to hit the target right
only 3 frequencies with the standard coil 4hz is larger coil only
thanks for the noise channel info mate:)
On a budget - If doing pasture for the deep stuff get a second hand Explorer II and a second hand XP goldmaxx for arable land save lots of money.. u probably could get both machines for under £500
Yeah I would agree with that mate! I don't have a deus anymore I use a gmp in its place
you should try the GMP over this just to see if that(EVEN CHEAPER)picks
them up.
Il bet you a tenner it does!
Never start a Deus with the coil near the ground as it'll set it's air parameters incorrectly & you will get bad results.
i had an etrac for a year and i heard every one talking about the deus so i bought one......after 100+hours and several hundred bits of coke that came in over 30 the etrac got promoted to number one again lol
J'ai essayé 5 paramètres et les deux bobines.
je lui ai donné plus que le ctx et Etrac
vous avez raison, il devrait être mieux
grazie per il tuo commento gentile
conductive multi tone and pitch hold, manual 28/30. smooth seems to mask some signals for me.
HH GL
yes they are amazing detectors and they have certainly come on a long way, i just need to get out more lol
pps/good, honest test.well done lad!
Just checking.......
Expert users? WOW and there was me thinking you were an 'expert'. Who are these experts? A few benefits mates in the pub?
cheers mate, if you look at the start of the video you will see a link to the big coil on the deus, or have a look at my Chanel.
thanks
i like this vid i now own a CTX preveously a SOV GT user some refer the soverighn GT as an E track on steroids that will be missed i think the GT could out preform the ctx on wet sand beaches inland i haven't seen a test.
At the end of the day detectors are tools and we all find our own way of using them and getting the best out of them
I have a deus and can tell you that basic 1 is shit. I only have it a few weeks i can honestly say it is the best i have had. Previous detectors i have owned are minelab sovereign pro.minelab sovereign gt tesoro silver sabre xterra 505. Not one of these beats the deus on pasture stubble or plough. But nothing beats the Gt on the beach.
reactivity 1 means silenser 3 it is very bad for coins near the iron
I will take the Etrac any day.
thanks for the reply
over all the ctx is my favorite .
bel video sopratutto per il cane pronto a giocare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! simpaticissimo
marvelous will look at ...thks and rgds
not British hammered penny's it wont mate and i have tried plenty of settings most of them given to me by pro deus users.
i always try to get the most out of my detectors and if the deus was capable of coming out on top in this test i would have shown it doing so....im not sponsored by minelab or anyone else and i dont care which make is the best as long as i have one lol.
Great test. Very informative. -=The Twin=-
