Anna, you're fantastic and a wonderful ambassador for the game of Chess. I love your gentle, cheerful demeanor that is not just pleasant, but also disarming. Some of my favorite videos are of you playing hustlers in New York thinking they are going to roll over you, only to go down in defeat that carries some deserved humiliation because of their dismissive attitude toward a gurl. You're doing everything right. Keep the videos coming.
It was really neat hearing your thought process on the play by play. I really like the overall format and story telling you put into this video. It surely took a lot of effort to make but it was very engaging and I can’t help but want more content like this.
Lets be real if this was a dude doing the same thing you wouldn't be watching... that is her whole thing just being pretty and selling that and people can use chess as an excuse and pretend that she is special.
The voiceover is brilliant Anna! following the match closely in real time I'm seeing perhaps half of what you are until you're short of time and then I'm blown away! So good!
I have to watch this again! The voiceover is excellent insight for those of us intrigued, compelled, and honored to play the game, even at my low level.
I've seen this twice now, and it was great fun both times. I think the IM got a little complacent when she was so low on time and he had more time. But at no time did I see here playing at a level below him, never. Also, I could never recogmize he had any plan to win other than on time, which was odd for a player of such a high ranking. You rock, Anna, keep up the good work.
@ammoalamo6485 her ranking is around 2175 which isn't too shabby. Using the chess Elo formula, a 2300-rated player would generally have about a 60-65% chance of winning against a 2175-rated opponent in any given game.
It could be a great touch to have your opponent share their take on the game alongside yours-it would add an extra layer of depth if they’re open to it. Either way, I love how you guide the flow and feel of the match-it’s got a unique style that really works. Keep up the fantastic work!
Don't know why this video came up among the suggested ones, but I'm glad it did. I only know the basics of the game and it was very helpful seeing a match with the thoughts of one player being narrated. That and the subtle music really made it very exciting. Thank you so much for this experience.
I love the way, you are presenting your chess. Not describing hours and hours one variant after another, but explaining, why moving such and such. Thanks a lot for your videos.
I really like the format with the music in the background and your descriptions of what you're thinking and doing, it was fun to watch, thank you very much, your channel is very funny and the chess games are varied, I like it...thanks a lot
Voice over commentary was awesome. I am not even claiming to be a chess player past the understanding of how the pieces move but this was certainly interesting and enjoyable.
@@Jagang8It looks like him (at least to me). Perhaps he lied about his elo but the alternative is that I just might be wrong (which is a strong possibility).
I much preferred that, with you adding your thoughts rather than feeling you have to exchange banter through the game. It makes it insightful and more tense.
Hi Anna, GG. I was looking at the board, and maybe it is my lack of experience showing.... but at 10:28 what was it that made you decide against moving your knight in B3 down into C1, thereby threatening the Queen and forcing it to be either withdrawn or forced into a favorable fight? Perhaps it is not favorable, or perhaps i am just not seeing what you saw. Rank amateur here btw. I asked because i do love the game, and would love to learn more about that situation? thanks
Great video. Loved the way you did the commentary. You discovered the solution to how to show a chess game. Hearing YOUR thought process was the key. Imagine if your opponent revealed his thought process as well.
I really like the ending, when both of you realize you have no short-term winning strategy and rushing through moves is going to result in major mistakes, you agree on a draw and shake hands!
I've never played timed chess, so please excuse an overly simple question. Can someone explain what happened to the clock, starting at 13:07 and continuing until the draw? At that time Anna's clock INCREASED from 2 seconds up to 4. A few seconds latter, Anna's clock INCREASED again from3 to 5 seconds. As the game continued, his was repeated multiple times for both Anna and Wojtek. My guess is that if you complete a move in less than one second, you gain 2 seconds. Otherwise, the clock continues to count down.
I really enjoyed this one because of your analysis accompanying the game, explaining your thinking throughout. Nice job, and congrats on the draw with a 2300!
If you look at the clock time at the beginning of the match, his clock time is not working properly . And at the end of the match, your clock time at the 5 second time your time is not working properly. The clock is broken, 'time' to get a new one.
Totally cool. Good game to study. Excellent voice over! Would much rather study these games played in accessible chess tournaments than the big grand games of the past.
I am a terrible chess player but i only use chess to help my decision making processes. I have a question why after @6:19 you did not move your bishop from e3 to a7? It would have been protected by the queen and you would have threatened his queen at b8. If you would have pressured his queen he might have entered a defensive game and would not have developed his knight to e5. I believe in playing just one game and that is the end game so always go for maximum pressure. Look forward to hearing from you on this.
Such a great video. Loved the voice-over. I wish we could get your opponents thoughts in a voice-over too, it would be great. Maybe you could try that format with a game with your father or mother and mix both players thoughts in a voice-over. A lot a work but so gratifying for us. Thanks for all your hard work! Oh, btw loved the music in the background. Very effective in creating an atmosphere!
Agreed. This game was easy to watch. Good camera view, subtle music for tension, and the voice-over commentary was much more interesting than just hearing random remarks or trash talking by the players.
You played well. If I were you, I'd not be scared from a 2300 player. Of course, it might be easy for me to say as 40+ years ago I was at much higher rating than 2300. The position with pawns on e4 and f3 is solid, but black has more space on the Queen size, hence I'd like to recommend to you a different plan, prepping f4 and e5 instead of keeping the e4 and f3 pawn formation.
Hi Anna. I know how it feels when you play a player who is higher in ranking and you can give him or her a good game. I remember shaking myself after a game like that. I was low on time and people were coming to our table to watch the game. My concentration at that time had to be 105%. I lost the game, but had a greatest time playing it. Good luck with your channel.
Wow, such a great video. I enjoyed it. Tbh playing chess and learning about the financial market helped me to keep a positive mentality when I was going through a rough phase. It was really helpful. Who trades the financial market?
Chess has been really helpful and it builds the mind. I trade the financial market and felt like some strategies I apply in chess can be similar in a trading cycle. Which aspect of the financial market are you referring to?
You’re right. Chess can be strategic, same with the financial market but I prefer to diversify my earnings. I was referring to the stock market but willing to try out other financial market. Solana recently went up. How do you trade?
I trade based on the season of the market. It gives me a direction on implementing the right strategies for long or short term. I also trade based on the volatility of the market. Although it wasn’t easy till I came across a mentor who helped to keep me in the market loop. My mentor is Bernard Paul.
Paul is also my mentor. I’ve learnt invaluable insights from Paul, who generously shares his knowledge and experience to help beginners navigate the complexities of the market
I watch alot of Poker vlogs where the player narrates in the same way you do here. It makes things much more interesting getting your insight on the game and your moves. Keep it up!
I noticed this a long time ago watching her play in nee york and then when she played her mom and dad, her biggest enemy is time management. She gets low on time and then has to rush her end game. If she can work on her time management i think her rating would go up quite a bit. Great video!
Can anyone help me understand the clock madness on this one? Early in the game, he had "5:05" on the clock, as it added one second each time he pressed the clock. Anna's seemed to be adding random seconds as well. Is this just the way these things work?
@millardbrown4769 I'll see if I can explain this for it to make sense in a written message. So chess clocks can be set to add bonus time for every time you make a move and hit the clock, however most games are set so the bonus time is only equal to the time you took to make your move, for example if the bonus time is 10 sec for each move then you get 10 sec back every time you hit the clock, BUT if you don't use the full bonus time to make a move then you don't get the full 10 sec back. For example even of the bonus time is 10 sec per move, if you only use 5 sec to make your move then you only get 5 sec back on the clock. This prohibits extra time adding up on the clock if you make a series of fast moves, for example if the clock didn't adjust for fast moves and you made 6 fast moves in a row then a full min would be added back onto the clock. I hope this makes sense as it's difficult to explain when not in person 😕
That last part made it beautiful. Dont forget you are up there too. One thing, as a none chess player that struck me. In the beginning, you were the one moving pieces. He on the other hand moved his back line, but was not in offense at all. He was letting you move pieces more forward which resulted in him striking you first. As he was just baiting you and than attack when you opened up by moving all these piece. Only to find a gap in his defense, which there wasn't since he did not do much to attack. Again, there could be many reason. I hardly ever watch or play chess. It just struck me and wonder if this is some sort of tactic?
Because white has the first move, white will usually be able to dictate the opening and get the pieces to more advanced and central squares. Black has to play more accurately to avoid being overwhelmed by this advantage, and black did so here, managing to activate the pieces well despite white's space advantage in the center.
Love your videos. I am classified as a Chess Grand Disaster with a rating (untested) of 3. However, I followed your commentary with ease and could understand the reasons for your moves with clarity. Thank you for helping out a chess lover who ain't as smart as you!! 😄😄😄
Guau.... aparte de muchas otras cosas...me encanta que normalmente te tomas tiempo en el comienzo de la partida para ir acelerando...de menos a más ...como los grandes en todos los deportes... gracias por el canal. Eres una crack!
I don't play chess but i noticed the opponents clock increased early on from 5.02 to 5.06. Each time he hit the (button?) it increased (decreased?) the time used by 1 or 2 seconds.
There are several time formats that could be used in chess games. In this game, the format is 5+2, zhich simply means they start which 5 mins and get 2 seconds added time after each move they make. These 2 seconds are especially crucial in the endgame where you're short on time and you need to move quick before time runs out.
Anna Narrating: "We are basically playing bullet chess at this point" People in the background quietly: "Oh snap this table is popping off" hahah Get game, thanks for the narration -Cheers
Sorry, the only thing I know about chess is how the pieces move, I can't actually "play" it, I'm far too stoopid. But I do have a question. Why at the end game did Anna's clock start going up? It went from 4 seconds up to 10 seconds at one point. I noticed at the start his clock went up from 5:02 to 5:05, too. The clock puzzles me.

I don’t understand anything about chess but I love Ana’s videos, that way she explains the game gets me so invested. This is awesome.
she is so honest about her emotions.. to keep your thoughts and ideas together on a winding down clock is crazy... and the not have composure to respond to the opponent..
So good!
Wojtek is actually from my hometown Szczecin in Poland :) He holds dual citizenship from PL and FR :) how cool you got to meet him and play together!
Bravo Wojtek Sochacki you are really good player !!
Anna: So what's your rating?
Wojtec: I'm a 2300 IM.
Anna: 'It was at this point that I realized that I was facing a strong opponent'
Wojtek
Yes, like the bear @@Mala_Li
I have to watch this again! The voiceover is excellent insight for those of us intrigued, compelled, and honored to play the game, even at my low level.
I really like this form that you have video and inside you are explaining. Really nicely consumable content :-) Keep on going!
"It was at this point that I realised...", I thought that sentence would end quite differently. 😅

I like this format quite a bit to hear your internal dialogue. It opens up the internal game to those of us used to studying the external game!
Wow I really liked this. I love it when "Playing Anna" and "Analyst Anna" are edited together like that ! And good job on that game 🔥
Anna, you play well enough to forget about fear. You played at level with this IM. You even overcame his bishop pair.
I believe that was Wojciech Moranda. She did really well.
@@KenFullman That's actually my neighbor Eugene. I taught him chess a couple of weeks ago.
@@KenFullman Wojciech Moranda is a 2600 GM. Definitely not him.

I asked because i do love the game, and would love to learn more about that situation? thanks
I have to say that I found this fascinating. I am merely an amateur hobbyist and your commentary taught me much. Thank you.
Your voiceover was really informative as a weaker player. You're showing that you can go toe to toe with stronger players more and more every day/
Love the voice over analyzing the moves and why you did them. So informational and just a great video to watch the game.
I usually watch Anna Cramling's videos on mute but this one I watched without mute. I prefer the voice-over. Thanks.
This is a great video, especially the dramatic music interspersed throughout the dialogue. Well done all the way around.
Noooo. Spoilert
I thought she ran out of time and would have lost.
@@ThexSleepingDragon it was draw
The fact that they held an equal position for the entire game is insane.
That was fantastic! You’re a rockstar. When your folks see the game, they will be very proud.
It would be nice if Wojtek Sochacki's name would be credited at least in description.😉

Not really. Most people have no idea who he is. She didn't even recognize him, and secondly, she peaked everybody's interest by not saying who it was.
@@Golden108 just sayin that in chess world this is common courtesy to give a name when someone is GM or IM. Nothing more. Cheers.
I agree, it’s common courtesy.
Well done Anna - a brilliant battle. Merry Christmas :)
Anna's analysis is so confident. Love her enthusiasm. Mesmerizing ambassador for the world of chess.
If you look at the clock time at the beginning of the match, his clock time is not working properly . And at the end of the match, your clock time at the 5 second time your time is not working properly. The clock is broken, 'time' to get a new one.
One of the best videos I have ever seen from you, nice music choice, very very nice commentary, also very impressing chess! This was like a movie!
Totally cool. Good game to study. Excellent voice over! Would much rather study these games played in accessible chess tournaments than the big grand games of the past.
I haven't played a game of chess for years, but I do remember the feeling of holding your own against a much stronger opponent.
What a great video!
Delightful. First time I watched one of these and it was exciting. I definitely appreciated the dignity at the end, of both parties. Wonderful
Wow:) Very nice talk thru, makes it dynamic!
That is actually a great idea !!!
*I already know what his thought process was: Crap, crap, crap, darn she moved that!, Crap, crap, she's better than I thought! Crap, crap, CRAP!*

You're such a joy to watch, pure genuine excitement and love for the game and the experience. Someone tell Magnus to coach this girl to GM!
Yes, Magnus should teach her the Drunk Monkey Chess-Fu style that he plays late on weekends
Love the voice overs!!! Keep up the great work
Wow, such a great video.
Paul demonstrates an excellent understanding of market trends, making well informed decisions that leads to consistent profit
I watch alot of Poker vlogs where the player narrates in the same way you do here. It makes things much more interesting getting your insight on the game and your moves. Keep it up!
Yeah, I'm sure her future opponents get something out of it as well. 😉😆
I dont play chess and rarely even watch it but this was enjoyable to watch with the commentary
@anyone.....at 9:12 is there a reason why Anna did not go Bishop to c5?
This commentary video was PERFECT
I loved it
I could sense the tension
Please, make more!!!!!
That was goose skin feeling lol
@@abcdefgcdefg5178 Thank you! That makes perfect sense

i am always so impressed by top class players thought processes. this lass is a hell of a player and commentater. great stuff.
It's such a pleasure to watch you play, strategize, be so friendly, appreciative and skilled! Keep it up!
That was great to watch. Love the commentary on your own thoughts, I'm still new to chess and it makes me understand the game better.
I love how you were sharing your thought process and the graphics on screen, really helps me understand the game since I'm a novice. 😊
Guau.... aparte de muchas otras cosas...me encanta que normalmente te tomas tiempo en el comienzo de la partida para ir acelerando...de menos a más ...como los grandes en todos los deportes... gracias por el canal. Eres una crack!
You’re the coolest chess player, great and fun game!
I don't play chess but i noticed the opponents clock increased early on from 5.02 to 5.06. Each time he hit the (button?) it increased (decreased?) the time used by 1 or 2 seconds.
It happens for both players. They each get an extra 2 seconds each time they move.
There are several time formats that could be used in chess games. In this game, the format is 5+2, zhich simply means they start which 5 mins and get 2 seconds added time after each move they make. These 2 seconds are especially crucial in the endgame where you're short on time and you need to move quick before time runs out.
That game was crazy like a circus because it was so IN TENTS! Great job Anna!
Thank you for explaining these games. I really enjoy trying to follow. I’m an honest beginner and the commentary is so helpful.

I literally didn't feel the time as i was watching this because i loved the game
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
I hav'nt played chess for years and never against the clock. WHen Anna was done to 4 seconds I noticed the clock going back up. How does that work?
They had it set to 5 min 2 sec back for each move. You can set most chess clocks to have time back.
