Your cousin has a real talent for drawing! I love her lighthouses! Obviously, the creativity gene runs in the family. I love this channel. Thank you for sharing ❤
These are my favourite types of videos that you produce. Going out and about and joining another artist to capture something that you physically see is very enjoyable to watch. I am encouraged by your cousin because I find myself working on art a bit later in life. In my earlier days I always bought into the belief that making anything artistic was a genetic thing and you either had it or you didn't. Now we are a bit wiser and realize the ability is in everyone, it is a matter of unlocking it by studying a bit and more importantly practicing. We have to enjoy the journey and stop worrying about a fear of failing to capture the dreaded rock cut, the cumulus sky or a bit of foliage. It does improve and comparing notes with those who have already figured it out helps immensely. They're not all masterpieces, but I can see progression in my pictures from the very first attempts that were made only a few years ago. Your videos bring me that encouragement to keep going. This particular video from such a lovely picturesque spot certainly adds icing to that cake.;-)
Thanks, David! These are my favourite videos too, even though they are the least popular. I do believe everyone can learn to draw, no matter their age. It takes determination, regular practice, and some good instruction. I also recommend drawing from life as much as possible. I think art is one of the best hobbies for later life. You can do it anywhere and in any size! 🤗
Oh my, absolutely resonates. Huge mental blocks from childhood here for me. I have over the years created beautiful gardens, I can dress a room and a figure which took me years to realize as artistic outlets, lol! We have crazy talent in our family very intimidating! I wish I was in the zone more! Keep going, it’s now or never😉
How wonderful to be “home” and creating with your cousin!!! Both drawings were beautiful! I loved the drawings that your cousin shared-she definitely has the skill!
Thank you cousin for sharing our amazing downtown and my little coffee shop. It was so wonderful to sit and watch you and my mom bond over your passion 💙 your talent never ceases to amaze me!
I have the same Potentate. Their label says 100% cotton, 300g paper, 12x12cm, 24 sheets, light blue is hot press and the denim darker blue is hot press. Made ideal for watercolour, colour pencil, and ink pens.
Thanks to you Leslie I have managed to keep a hobby for almost 2 years now. I travelled to India recently and made sketches there too! I have followed you for a good amount of time now. Most of my art supplies are the ones that I have seen you recommending in your videos.
I just received a nurses clipboard after seeing how you used it in this video, Leslie. I LOVE it so much! Funny, I had one of these at work (not in the medical field, but they are handy in an office if you do a lot of events requiring sign ups), but I never thought to put art supplies in it. I sure wish I had it during a recent holiday trip to visit family, but you better believe it's coming with me on upcoming travels! I love and look forward to all of your videos. Your voice is so calming and the tips are really useful. Thank you!!!!
Hi Leslie, small world we all live in...I have cousins in the area and I know Frankfort..lovely town, and your family to paint with was so fun no doubt..thankyou for another example to encourage all levels of artists. Blessings.
So lovely to see a special spot and share a bit of your visit with your cousin 😊. I love seeing other artists’ travel supplies and I love choosing/packing supplies for a trip (even though I rarely seem to have much time for painting when we travel). Beautiful tiny painting and lovely sketches by your cousin!
I love the star shaped ceiling lights on the cafe. I currently live in Tipton, Indiana so this especially appealed to me. Would love to visit there someday.
A lovely video, as usual! Please tell your cousin that if I can draw that well at two years I'll be very happy indeed!! I'm at something less than a year and still struggling to get a tree in our yard, after many, many efforts. Nothing's getting built in a day here, that's for sure! Thanks again for continuing to put these out--I am always inspired! ❤️
Thank you! Leslie’s tips and inspiration have really helped me. I tell her all the time, she’s a gift to social media. Her art and history knowledge alone! I love this channel!
If you have no problem with getting you knitting needles 13:51 through security, you should have no problem with your dividers 10:03. They'd look similar on an x-ray machine. The rule for scissors is a maximum 4" blade, so the points on your dividers is less than 1". So you should be good to go. 💕🌞🌵😷
I think getting to draw and visit with a relative would be great fun. The coffee shop looks great and the surrounding area looks like a special place to visit and explore.

I’ve been following your art for some time - I’m a fan 😬 I was so surprised to hear you say you were in Illinois. I’m currently in Peoria, IL but lived in the Chicago suburbs for 20 years. Really enjoyed your video and the history of Frankfort. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful video. I love going home to Indiana. My dad always wants me to do a painting before I leave. Of course, he has those pieces all over his house. My sketchbooks are full of on site paintings during airport down times.
I love this for so many reasons. I can't believe this cute little town is only an hour from me and I've never heard of it. There are so many hidden treasures in Chicagoland, and my town of Aurora is catching up with a huge revitalization of downtown. Since it seems you're in this area frequently, I wonder if you would ever consider doing a mini workshop. You're one of my biggest inspirations, and it would be a privilege and a pleasure to be able to work with you! ☺️
Lovely video as usual. Frankfort is around 35 miles south of where I live. Maybe you could do a mini workshop at the Chicago Botanic Garden as they offer lots of art classes throughout the year.
I found your videos quite by accident. I find them exquisely charming. You are enchanting and as a newbie traveler and water colorist, I am delighted to follow you. I would love to call you friend!
Hello, what a wonderful video. Your cousin’s cafe is indeed very charming, as is the town. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your story and knowledge. I have taken so much info from you, I use the nurse clipboard now and I have made myself a little tin palette per some of your suggestions. You inspire me so much. I wonder, could you please share a link to your cousin’s pencil case/pouch?
Oh my gosh, I grew up a few miles from Franklin. Always took the train from college in Jacksonville, IL (near Springfield) to Joliet! Neighbors! Can’t believe Franklin has grown so much in these past years. Haven’t been there in a long while. Might have to try to visit next time I’m home. Your cousin’s art is amazing. And the cardboard cover for that notebook I’ve been getting (some aren’t cloth cover like this one) keeps peeling and I would glue it back down. But I’m really happy with it for what I’m paying. This is such a lovely place. And arghs the sendak. It looks amazing, and is surprisingly very light weight (lighter than my etchr field case at least!) I was expecting it to be heavy because the cloth looks really thick and all. Every time I see it in your video (which is alot!) I feel like treating myself to one. Then I remind myself that for how I do my urban sketching, I wouldn’t be able to use it, and it isn’t cheap… The temptation runs deep! Oh! I have a sketchbook where I drew upside down and from the back cover too… The marker on that sketchbook was so subtle, I didn’t notice it! Oh wells.
