Your reviews are like a luxury vacation at the spa. I don’t mean that in a negative way at all, but your focus is on small, high quality, custom items that have aesthetic appeal. Very enjoyable to watch because you also support small companies and artisans.
I recently bought myself the large Art Tool Kit. I was all ready to start filling it and hubby said I need to wait until after Christmas. I guess I'm getting a bunch of paint tubes under the tree 😊. I love the Blackwing pencils. I have each, except for the White (Pearl) one. I would love a review of them all.
Leslie! I am so thrilled you included both of our Sendaks and Palettes in your gift guide - thank you! Also - so many enticing treasures here. What a fun idea for an advent calendar - and the Blue Star treasures look so sweet - I want to see how they fit in our Sendaks and may order some of those and I think i need to finally try out some Rosemary Brushes - they look wonderful.
The pochade boxes fit but are a bit bulky. I usually carry mine separately or in their little holster case. But the pocket sketchers fit perfectly! Yes, you must try the Rosemary brushes!! Sooo good! ❤
Leslie’s video a few months ago about her Sendaks (and another artist who had a video about her new Sendak at the same time) convinced me that I “needed” one. I was debating between the two sizes and my husband (who struggles with gift ideas for me) asked if he could buy them for Christmas and my birthday (a few days after Christmas). So, I’m getting both very soon but I have had to wait forever 😅. They were wrapped as soon as the parcels arrived to avoid the temptation of looking at them early 😂.
This is *such* a great collection of art supplies! Any artist would be so lucky to get these gifts! Personally, I have to say that the Peg and Awl Sendak roll has been an absolute game changer for my art career, and I'm pretty sure I would like to be buried with it. Thank you so much for turning me onto that, Leslie! Also, you can't go wrong with a Blackwing pencil. I love the matte ones.
Who knew these things existed?! What a collection! Thanks for posting this!❤ you’re single-handedly removing all of our excuses for NOT painting and drawing every day. 😊
As always, I am inspired! Unfortunately, I am inspired to get, not give, as I don't know anyone else at the moment who would use any of these, but I loved it all. I already have the Art Toolkit palettes, and love them, and several of the other items are at the moment out of my range, but they are something to work toward. A lovely video with lovely ideas--thank you again!
Yes...I'm usually my own Santa, for nicer art supply gifts...although my hubs does make an effort. I just don't have enough close artist friends to be purchasing these kind of gifts for. But hey, I sure do see things I'd love for myself!
I absolutely loved this video! The Shimmer drops Advent calendar sounds like such a fun way to get into the holiday spirit, especially for artists. I can't believe how many unique gift ideas you shared-definitely adding the Rosemary and Co brushes to my wish list! Thank you for the inspiration! 🎨✨
I’m so glad you found items you liked! The Rosemary brushes are so wonderful. And yes, the advent calendar is better than a box of chocolates! Candy for artists. 😊
I bought the Shimmer Drops and received them yesterday! They are incredible paints, so beautiful, and the pans were all overflowing. The owner did such a cute job with packaging and also included an extra gift of 3 half pan colors along with a handwritten note. It was worth the wait for the overseas shipping and I am telling all my artist friends about them gem! Thank you for the recommendation!!
The Natsume brass mini pochade is super cute! What would make it even better is if they added an enamel coating on the surface under the wells which could then be used as an additional mixing surface when the wells are taken out. ❤
What a wonderful video! Even though I didn’t catch it until now, I still like seeing all the products and I made my little list. You always have such lovely items to show. I really appreciate it. Thank you for sharing. Happy new year to you and your family.❤
Oh my goodness 😁. This video was just a TOTAL TREAT....... I am a big messy emotional painter with no ‘teeny tiny’ in my vocabulary.......but I want EVERYTHING you just showed us, and not working teeny tiny doesn’t ever stop me loving your videos . Love from a fellow Totnesian 😍. PS I loved your considered thoughtful reviews of well chosen, huge quality products from wonderful (mostly) small family companies. Such a treat seeing them all together ! Happy Christmas🎄
I used to paint and draw large too. The fun thing about going smaller is that it’s quicker and super portable! I was able to do a little tiny painting at the Totnes market yesterday and nobody even noticed me because all my gear was in the palm of my hand. 😅 I hope you have a lovely Christmas. 🎄
Love this video… as always, you have wonderful suggestions and insights. I’d love to see a video where you explore using the various Blackwing pencils. Thank you
Liked and shared and several comments left, lol. I love how all the micro art supplies and pieces you do trigger my cute aggression! Hoping you have a beautiful season!
What a wonderful video to drop on Black Friday weekend. Just put in my Sendak order with 20% off. You are so right. I would be delighted to receive any of the products you discussed. Beautifully curated.
Nice variety of gifts and different from other gift videos. Definitely interested in the Shimmer Drops, and I've been considering Rosemary & Co. and Art Toolkit items for a while now. Thank you.
Hello Leslie happy to be back here 😊 I'm happy to see you and with this amazing selection !!! There's everything for nice Christmas presents for friends family and oneself 😉😁😘🙏
This is my favorite "Christmas gift ideas for artists" video, that I have watched so far. I like that most of the gifts are from small and independently owned companies, and not big corporations. Personally I would have enjoyed this video even more if you had given us the price of each of the items. I realize prices vary depending on the country you live in, but I don't like getting excited about a product that ends up being too expensive for my budget. Even if the price of an item varies by a few dollars in another country, you have an idea of the price range, and you immediately know whether or not it is something you would consider buying. That being said, I really enjoyed your "gift ideas" video more than any of the others that I have watched. All of your gift ideas are well chosen items that almost any artist would love to receive as a Christmas gift. Thank you!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I didn’t list prices because they vary depending on where people live in the world (the Americas, Europe, Australia, etc), and also because the video will live on even when prices change. As I said, most of these are under $100 and a few are around the $30 price mark. 😊
good morning, first may i say i have been learning so much from you over the past year or so, i am so grateful for you videos. throughout this video, my eyes kept darting past you, to what looks like a display cabinet of some sort. i went back to your studio tour video, and that wasn't there back then. could you show that up close at some point? it looks very intriguing and lovely.
It’s a new (old) addition to my studio! I’m loving it! I’ve posted photos and a video about it on Patreon, but not here yet. 😊 I use it for my tiny painting gear.
I enjoy crafting small pallets and paint tins. Also small support boards for sketchbooks but I don't see how you can work so small. My lower limit is about 3 1/2 X 5 inches, more power to you though.
A lot of these things you showed were absolutely gorgeous and let’s be honest really cute. Unfortunately Australia they are mostly extremely expensive but something I would like to point out for people that have hand issues whether it be carpal tunnel arthritis or joint pain. All these extremely small things are a no-go zone, almost completely because it hurts the hands too much to use or to even try and attach.
I had a hard time believing that the the Black Wing pencils are noticeably different than other quality pencils. So I bought a few myself to find out. They are different and do somehow write faster and smoother! And if that's what you're looking for, then they're great! I use all sorts of pencils and the Black Wings give a smooth lay down that makes them really enjoyable to use!
It was the same for me. I wish I’d recorded the first time I tried one because I literally gasped. They are so smooth it’s almost like they move themselves. 😊
oh me to i always wanted a brass palette...they are so pretty. I always told my self i would get one when i turn 50 ( and time flies an i am turning 50 this year and still did not get one lol) I think i will set a new goal...( 55 ). thanks for sharing this list
So many great ideas. And I agree the Go Draw mini palettes are so much better than the copy ones. And I have just ordered for myself the Sendak roll - on sale at Jacksons so it seemed rude not to get what I have wanted for a while.
I see at 19:15 you have a dried gouache palette. I tried to pour a gouache palette with winsor and Newton gouache and it dried and crumbled into pieces. Did yours not do that??
I sadly could not even watch this video after hearing about the price range. 30 Euro is the most I could give. I like your calm personality and hope you will have a lovely response to this video. Enjoy the festivities.... 😊.
I've enjoyed watching some of your videos Leslie, but we have very different definitions of what is budget friendly. I don't know anyone who can afford the products it seems are continually promoted in your videos. The Art Toolkit empty palettes are so ridiculously overpriced as is anything by Peg and Awl. Who in heaven's name can afford this stuff? I have no idea if you're paid to promote these supplies, but it would be refreshing to see you suggest some products that the average person could actually afford to purchase.

Yes from me too

These are beautiful ideas! Thank you for advocating for these small businesses! Love their creativity!
There are some amazing products created by them. Lucky us! 😊

Wow!im going to ask my husband to watch this. And my grandkids can buy pencils! Thank you, Leslie. I am drooling!

15:40 on the blackwing pencil... I prefer vinyl erasers, so I'd just cut a slice off of my block eraser and slip it into the holder. 💕🌞🌵😷
The brass palette is so adorable!
Soooo adorable 🥰
So thoughtfully done! Thank you for posting this :)
Great ideas😊 thank you for sharing! You have

Hello ❤❤❤from Beautiful British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦
Hello! 👋☺️
oh me to i always wanted a brass palette...they are so pretty. I always told my self i would get one when i turn 50 ( and time flies an i am turning 50 this year and still did not get one lol) I think i will set a new goal...( 55 ). thanks for sharing this list
50 used to seem so far away and these days for me it seems long ago! 😅
So many great ideas. And I agree the Go Draw mini palettes are so much better than the copy ones. And I have just ordered for myself the Sendak roll - on sale at Jacksons so it seemed rude not to get what I have wanted for a while.
It’s a great weekend for the sales! I hope you love yours too. 😊
17:40 Won’t the wood mold over time having watercolor paint + water in them over time? I assume the wood is treated. Just curious 🤔
Delightful video, Leslie! I would love to learn more about the Blackwing pencils! ❤😊
I’ll do a video soon! 😊
5:38 Does the paint you squeezed in not end up spilling over the box when you are done and close up the box?
You allow the paint to dry and then reactivate it with water when you’re ready to paint. 😊
@ Ahh, I see. 👍🏻
Some nice things here but I'm sticking to my no buy. Can recommend the justgosketching kit which I've been using all year for outdoor artwork :)
Nothing wrong with No Buy! I love my Just Go Sketching too. 😊
🕊💙🎨
I see at 19:15 you have a dried gouache palette. I tried to pour a gouache palette with winsor and Newton gouache and it dried and crumbled into pieces. Did yours not do that??

Wonderful list. Question I don’t see the Rosemary travel brush case on the site. Do you have a direct website link?
www.rosemaryandco.com/pocket-brush-leather
Gear gifting ideas for artists at Christmas.
Can you order the brass pallets without the plastic pans?
I think they all come as a set, but you could certainly ask her. I always like to have extra empty pans. 😊
Last I bought one, the pencil sharpener from Blackwing is a Kum longpoint that is marked for Blackwing, not one they are making.
Does the first one come in metal or plastic pans, I can't really tell...
Plastic but with an embedded magnet. 😊
Are Shimmer Drops lightfast? :)
Are Graphitints lightfast?
Yes for the Graphitint. Shimmer Drops is a newer company but she does do lightfast testing. Best to check with them. 😊
@ thx 🌸
