This fast-idle system was used on carburettor-type engines that ran an AC compressor. The wire that switches on the electromagnetic clutch of the AC compressor is also sent to a solenoid valve (He pointed it out). One port of the valve is connected by rubber tubing to the carburettor inlet manifold, the other port of the valve is connected to a diaphragm-type vacuum actuator. This actuator diaphragm is mechanically connected by a shaft to the accelerator linkage on the carburettors. When the AC compressor is switched on, the solenoid valve opens, connecting the vacuum of the inlet manifold to the diaphragm of the vacuum actuator. The vacuum actuator's diaphragm shaft moves the carburettor linkage to give a fast idle. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.
Very well explained. I encountered that process with my 1984 Ford Laser when I added, after-market of course, an A/C system. It was a 1300 cc carbureted engine.
Super nice little car, this is back in the day when First started doing automotive collision repair and paint which did 40 years. Cars back then were so easy to work on the engineering was just simple. And the metal on the car was low strength steel LSS. Which was so easy to repair and straighten. Not like the HSS high-strength steel of today which many times can't be repaired and has to be thrown away and replaced.
What a masterpiece! These used to be all over the place here in Hawai'i back in the '70s. I can't recall seeing a 510 that looked this nice...even brand new! Aloha!
@@rootsmotorsports6984 I'm sorry to say that the sea air in Hawai'i probably sent the many 510s to the crusher. After the 3-year-warranty on the aftermarket rust-proofing was over...my Dad's '76 Corolla promptly rusted from the inside out. Sad...I really enjoyed that car...

Love the 510🥰 I had a Datsun 610 back home in Gardena, California up until 1986. I miss all the different kinds of cars on the West Coast. I see Florida has a nice selection of custom cars & trucks! I'm in Atlanta since 2005 by way of New Orleans. I have a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer with the 4200 Atlas motor that they're finally just starting to make aftermarket parts for. I still love my old school Datsuns & RX2's & Rotary's! You mentioned Australia in your video & bro they are doing it big Australia 💯👍🏿. Keep up the good work my brudda & I got you locked in. even though the 510 wagons didn't have the independent rear suspension that was standard issue on the sedans, I still prefer the the wagon over the sedans due to their handsome good looks!
You would be surprised JC Whitney has run channels for window glass in all different sizes and they give you measurements they give you accurate measurements in their catalog.
Man I’m in Port Saint Lucie wish I saw it but I wasn’t at the time he found it. I had a 71 510 2 door back in the late 90s but had too many cars and had to get rid of it back in North Lauderdale should stored it. Would love to get another one or an early 80s Corolla lift back.🇧🇸 love the channel
Thanks. Found a wagon in Orlando actually 2 using one for motor and suspension the body is bad and other body and floors are decent so that’s my next project👍🏾

Had 1984 300ZX. Love the 510 wagon like in Europe they love the hatch and wagon. Coil overs are nice touch.

Yes that was some better times, material cost wasn't as high.
