  • James is feeling very good in his groovy ski sweater, it has sparkles! It takes Batgirl a couple of minutes but she soon realizes who she's talking to. Dig James' fancy foot work...Mick Jagger did! James Brown skiing...? Hmmm.

James Brown was my second concert I went to in my life. I was 11 years old. It was when this was released. We were standing on our seats the whole time!
The energy from this man was unbelievable. What a presence! Grew up in Michigan & on Motown (and the British invasion). The 60's /70's were the Golden era of R& B (in my opinion) Wore out the records!
Thank you James Brown for an incredible time!!!

It was his first big hit on the White charts reaching #3 in December 1965. He had white hits before but not Top 5 ones. He had, had dozens of hits on the Soul charts and had big selling albums, this song really sold him to a white audience. JB luckily did not care so much, he was helping his people, which was great. His music of the late 60s and 70s was much more conscious.

Every time I hear this song I remember the movie K-9 with Jim Belushi and the sequence when his dog partner " Jerry " jumps out of the car with the poodle in and starts to roll around on the grass
wiggling and shaking like a dog does sometime
