I just started as a bartender a couple weeks ago, and got hit with a surprise free pour test today. I remembered your video and listened to it real quick before hand, and just bopped my hips in time with your count. Killed it. Thanks man. You made my life better today.
the "pool cue" bottleneck hold is actually really good for ergonomics; helps prevent long term wrist strain and carpal tunnel etc.. There's actually a lot of ergonomic techniques I've learned in bartending from some OG's and older mentors who've been slanging cocktails for 20+ years. Totally recommend looking up proper "healthy" techniques for shaking tins, pouring bottles, exercises, etc.
This was actually the most informative mixology video I’ve seen in a while. It hit on the classic stuff and the unusual stuff(dash, splash). Very well done. And thank you.
Thank you so much!! I am a novice "mixologist" at home. I love the way your explanations are so simple and easy to understand. Your video simplifies pouring and some terms that were a mystery to me. Now, I know. I guess I'll go start trying to free pour and get my measurements down and exact!
This was entertaining. I learned some awesome tips as well. Thank you for sharing. heading off to wantch some others from your channel. This earned a new sub.
Well done. I particularly liked the tension bubble part. I thought at first, "unmeasured over pour". Thank you, because I start my new bartending job, tonight. Thanks again!
I thought spouts was a for the bartender to limit the amount of liquor they put in your drinks, but the spouts make sense. I have to invest in the pour spouts and jiggers. Makes sense. 😎
I’m Australia and free poring is illegal here in licensed establishments supposedly to help prevent alcohol poisoning, go hard with our drinking so it’s very common for 18 years olds who are first able to go to get alcohol poisoning so the thinking is if they know exactly how much they are drinking it will help then not to over do it, nut I don’t think it really works all that well.
Thank you for Saying “parts” are confusing because I’ve been at multiple places and been trained so many times but just recently got the “eye roll” from a manager who thought I knew nothing because I’ve always counted/fraction style free pours and all that but never used the term “part” before. She instantly assumed I had zero experience but it’s just a terminology thing in my opinion
The beauty is, it's not even fractions, although very similar: It would be fractions (of a drink) if they all added up to the whole drink, saying nothing about whether you're making one, five, or a smaller one for uncle jim who is the return driver and can't have much. Example would be 1/3 vodka, 1/3 gin, 1/3 lime juice for a strange kamikaze, could be a teaspoon, could be a pint, could be a cubic mile for what it's worth. The "parts" measurement makes everything relative to the smalleast unit you measure, so 6 part gin, 1 part vermouth would just mean use 6x as much gin as vermouth, again ignoring the size. The former is good to describe contents of a drink, but not so great for recipes because you have to calculate how much to put in, the latter is more suited to recipes if you have some standard unit you can rely on and then just count spoonfuls for example.
Question: if your bartending and you decide you have to cut someone off because they drank to much. Do you talk to the bar owner first or is it your call?
I like it how he rejoices for getting the size right when free pouring, even if you know he's a seasones professional, and yet you feel he's not faking it (maybe just exagerating a bit for the show, but coming from a genuine mindset)
funny about the ml side. your jiggers are so big! Here its illegal to have more than 4cl of alcohol in one drink. so 1.3 fluid ounce. I work in a bar, our drinks have to be adjusted... also doubles are illegal here. So unless you wanna lose your liquer lisence....
I dont understand. I think that pouring tecnique would create lessions eventually. The fancy tecniques that u Talk about what seek for is to max the momentum in order to minimize hurts.

yeah but it strains your fingers. that’s the trade off. gotta have a balance of different techniques
It also helps keeping the liquid cool.
Thanks!

As soon as he did the count for free pouring, I realized the background music is on the same beat. Very clever!

Informative and fun!!
Question? Is there a right or wrong way in picking a blender. I've brought 3 so far. What kind of blender do you have?
*watches the 4 count pour perfectly fill the jigger*
Jesus Christ it's Jason Bourne
I appreciate that the beat of the background music matches his count speed.
Question: if your bartending and you decide you have to cut someone off because they drank to much. Do you talk to the bar owner first or is it your call?
This is great!
I just realized that you dont do the bs of "but first here is a word of our sponsor". Really enjoyable
Thank you sir

This guy is so entertaining to watch
When I pour with a pour sprout, alcohol pours out of the smaller hole. How come that doesn't happen with yours??
My brother taught when I was young, 4 second pour. My dad and brother showed me on my birthday and gave me a drink
I keep waiting for the next video
never expected an educational video in this channel 😂
God bless you bro
Don’t have to worry about free pouring over here in Scotland as the weights and measures act makes it illegal
He is so entertaining to watch lol

Thumbs up👍on video on bartending
The four count thing blew my mind
So your telling me that a normal shot in the US is a double in the UK?
Can somebody please tell me just how to pour 1, 2 or 3 fingers? I cannot find one video.
what is quarter in cocktails mixing means?
Bro i don’t understand, i don’t even like alcohol why are these videos so interesting
Wasn’t that a 2oz pour to the top of the jigger for your 6 count?
His Jigger was 1.5oz and the other side was 1o. He poured into the 1.5oz side which is a 6 count
you should start using both imperial and metric, i know the conversions but there's plenty of people in the world who dont lol
You mean most people lol
My GEE the Vocabulary😂😂😂,"grab the neck" "wide whole, small whole" " up and down" are u sure this vid is about bartending😂😂
What would help is an existing popular song with the tempo of this count.
Лучший!
Tipsy, to be exact the volume of a barspoon is 1/8 ounce or 3.7 milliliters. and a teaspoon is really 5 milliliters or 1/6 ounce.
This the lovely tipsy
I love youu🖤
waiting for the rest of the parts

Imagine someone miss understood you when you’d shout from the bar PASS ME THE JIGGER!
You say a dash is 1/32 of an oz, 1 oz is 29.6 ml. So basically a dash = 1ml.
A Mai tai doesn’t have a float of anything
ive always played a british police siren in my mind to count. wee, woo, wee, woo, each 1/4 oz. always spot on
