Americans on UA-cam- Look at my new brand of sketchbook! Briton in an art shop- So I got Seawhite, Daler Rowney, Winsor and Newton, maybe a Moleskine. Strathmore if I'm really lucky.
Is like me as I visited "Idee" in Germany for the first time and only saw the first floor where they sold colored cardboard, sewing and knitting materials and fake flowers and I arrived at the second floor being like: "OMG They sell markers in here?" my dumb head forgot that I was in a art store
I was honestly sometimes confused if she even WAS british or not since you get so used to the accent and then don't understand why she lives in america etc xD
If you think that's cheap go to The Works while you're here. Makes me feel flush. You get about 50 items for twenty quid then they give you a pile of 20% off vouchers/coupons and you can do it all again next time 😂
The brushes which you called "horrible" & "hay on sticks" is very useful to us artists who do fabric manipulation such as Batik! The rough bristles work really well in retaining the dye so that it can be brushed on to the fabric without completely leaking everywhere before even making it onto the fabric 😂😂
The fact that Jamie makes amazing art with cheap supplies just shows that you don’t need expensive things to make beautiful things, like Chole said. Everyone in school asks me how I make such aesthetic cute notes with supplies from Tesco (from the UK btw) , and I just say you don’t need expensive things to make beautiful stuff. *(not tryna brag ^^)*
Michaels, and a lot of retail stores really, are distributors rather than manufacturers. Michaels has a lot of 'house brands' that are only sold by them. But what that really means is that in the US and Canada, Michaels is the exclusive retailer and distributor of those brands. Apparently in the UK Hobbycraft is a distributor of Artist Loft. I wonder if they also carry Recollections, Craftsmart, Bead Landing, etc.
I love your regular videos too, but there's just something about watching you shop for supplies that's just so entertaining! Might be that I can empathize with the giddy joy you have
As a british artist, I live off hobby craft😂🙃 but honestly, the prices can be pretty big- but the 'knock off' brands (if you can call it that) aren't so pricey, usually under £10
It all seems to cheap compared to German prices :o Never been to any craft store before cuz we don't have any in area, but the ones that are close to being one have.... _nice prices_ :(
You two remind me so much of my oldest daughter and myself. My oldest daughter is like you, always having her hair/makeup/clothes on point, really great at art, and doubting her crafting/baking abilities when she's so successful at things when she truly tries (that's why my daughter loves your channel so much... She can relate to you). I'm like Jamie, just making sure I'm presentable while being comfortable (and not caring if I've got hair out of place), trying my hand at everything crafty/baking, and constantly reassuring my daughter (friend in Jamie's case) that she has more talent than she thinks. I could watch you two all day.
This is definitely my local one, the layout is the same and i saw a glimpse of a plant sign, which probably has something to do with the garden centre next door
I'm from Britain and Hobbycraft is like the most expensive art store in Britain. Places like the works are so much cheaper and decent quality. Love you and your Chanel💖💕
Alisha Wright the works doesn’t sell decent quality stuff though and no real range of stuff. It’s ok for stuff for children and the odd bits and pieces, I got good tracing paper from there, but I’ve never seen quality stuff in there!
I like the works . Fantasic prices, especially when they occasionally reduce things. Some of the art stuff isn't too brilliant but a lot of it is really good given the price.
9:20 i actually have seen those "makeup" sponges at michael's before! they actually are art sponges, they're part of an art supply collection thats design and inspired by makeup tools. like paintbrushs that look like makeup brushes and paints or pastels that look like eyeshadow. its actually really cool. its called Jane Davenport "Making Faces".
I went into a class art store and they are very good and have a lot of selection they also do this thing where they will make you a canvas of any size xx
There is a shop in the UK called household discounts and sometimes they have canvasses on sale for £1 for 2’ x2’. When they have them in I buy loads, take them home, stack them in my craft room and every time I use one, I’m so chuffed about what a brilliant bargain I swooped 🙋🏽👍🏽
I used to have a Hobbycraft right near my house, but they closed down! 😫 So now, I get all my supplies from Cass Art. Not as Big as Hobbycraft, but they have some pretty good quality stuff (including copics!)

i buy canvases from the works (Crawford and blacks) and home bargains for reallyyy cheap. the works also do really good paints and brushes and pencils etc i bought a set of 12 oil colours for £3 and they're really really good quality
Thanks for this! I thought you two worked really well together for a Vlog, both engaging and informative! It's fun to see other art stores and what kind of things you pick up personally, definitely helps me determine what I should try out!
