Make a ● Simple Bottle Mousetrap ( that works ! )

- A mousetrap you can make yourself all from recyclables! It's humane because it's capture and release. Easy to build, easy to bait, easy to release and best of all it's humane and there's no springs or levers to wind up or load. The mouse cannot escape. Mice are not harmed in any way during capture or release. Mice can be captured, released and let go calmly and easily. A 2L coke bottle and a few other common items is all you'll need for this mousetrap.

You can also put the peanut butter inside an uncooked macaroni noodle, or other hollow noodle, so the mouse doesn't have to eat the paper towel.

I've never seen DIY videos done with such good cinematography. Nice one Chris.
The mouses little feet taping against the table sounds weirdly satisfying
Thank you this was very helpful ! We have a cute little mouse in our kitchen so I made this trap yesterday night and set it up, i woke up this morning and found the mouse chilling in the bottle, i released it in a nearby forest. Thanks again you're awesome 🙏
This design is so elegant, efficient, and simple. And the approach you show in building it makes sure all the tolerances come out just right. Very nice.
When the mouse makes a buzzing noise I think it is grinding its teeth, or bruxing. At least that's what rats sound like when they brux, I notice mine does it when hes really happy or frustrated. Not sure if mice are the same though
The video sounded different than it was in real. It was like a loud bee.
Not sure about the buzzing but mice do brux btw!!
Dude...... U have a mouse?
@@sanaumer8270 No. FireFly00 had a rat. :-P
that mouse looks rlly cute ngl

Love your profile pic
Legend has it he put it on a stick, spinned it around an open fire like a hog roast and ate it afterwards
Mouse are cute and gross
Gotta love how you use gravity to close up those holes -- "very creative."
Great video! Love this alternative to the traditional mouse trap.
Nice to see the little guy set free .great trap amazing how he can get through the bottle neck .thanks for posting .
I love how you didn’t hurt the mouse!
It works great. I only had a small 500 ml coke bottle and I used a aaa battery instead of a pen. Thanks for the idea. You saved his life.
The battery is a good idea!
Clever and easy. Nice job.
I don’t like mice but I don’t want to see them get hurt so this was nice
Tyler Hafler lol
Tyler Hafler yeah I like his idea of a passive trap
this was worse. Think about how it felt when it was trapped in that coke bottle. Poor guy just wanted some food.z
@@21rooms1willdo Ok so we will send our mice to your home, i hope you will give those poor guys enough food

I made one two days ago and have caught two already. They are now living happily in the log store.
I have just discovered your channel and watched few videos. You and your channel are so underrated! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for that!
Hey, I built this trap and caught a mouse last night ! This mouse has been alluding my current live trap all summer. thank you !!
Make that 2 mice ! Got another one last night with this trap.
I may have one suggestion for improvement if its used for a live trap. This mouse was unresponsive when I found him, I think he cut off his air supply by staying at the spout end of the bottle all night. So I melted a 1/4" air whole on the top with a soldering iron. Shortly...the little guy woke up and looked at me like WTF !!
The Only Shadow Cast that’s funny
@@MrPopalosus If you had your skull makeup on, I would've looked at you like that too 💀👍
@@timearly5226 What make up ? That's really how I look !
@@MrPopalosus OOPs!
Perfect invention. Good to see mouse set free to nature.
Had trouble finding a catch and release trap and now it looks like I might even save some money. :)
The box cutter cam looked super cool!
I used my tiny gopro session for that.
I didn't think anyone would notice that shot!
Love your vids! Your traps are so creative and I always enjoy you releasing them at the end 👍🏻
A simple humane mouse trap...... Then burn the bottle later
+miko dadey didn't you see his cute little face?
I could say the same what Julio Samaniego said. :)
Simple - cheap - fast - and of course a movie with the result. I like that.
Love this trap made from recycled items too is a win win. Thanks.
I love your Videos! Your ideas are just great and I really love your voice ❤️
Thanks for this video. Made one this morning and caught the mouse in no time!
Wow, great idea !! The simpler the better.
And I thought there were no more genius's!!!
Sir, thank you for proving me wrong!!!!!
Your imagination is on point!
Making this today.
Absolutely brilliant 😁
Thank you ❤️
Well shoot! I don't have a coca-cola bottle :(.
All I have is a pepsi bottle.
Guess I'm out of luck then.
/sigh :(
😂 yes I only have an orange juice bottle
twitchster77 “is pepsi okay?”
Morgan Roberts hehe I was joking/being a smart ass :p
I tried a Dr. Pepper bottle. The mouse got in got the bait and left. The design of the bottle does appear to have an impact on how effectively the design of the trap works.
coca cola glass, i don't give a damn
I am so happy to have found this! I can show this to my mum in hooes she stops buying those mouse traps that kill the mice!
Chris i made your other version using the hanger pieces...works great!! Love your Videos brother!! Notap #1
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!! I woke up this morning and opened my kitchen drawer to find a mouse had gnawed through all my flavored coffee! I love animals, but having them running across my silverware aint cool. I will definately use this trap and evict the little guy(s).
This is so satisfying earned a new subscriber
Smart idea, you always amaze me with your creations!
Thanks so much for that!
This was the cutest, sweetest thing.
Are you talking about the mouse or the trap? By the way, I can't believe he released it alive.
I love your vids they show you stuff to be safe and they show safe stuff!
I kinda like mice but I don’t like them in my house and this is a very safe way!❤
I think mice are cool the way they can fit into tight spaces like that
no wifi no friends I guess I have no Friends
I know this isn’t mice but can’t rats like,, squish their skulls or something to fit into tight places????? I have no idea where I learned that lmao
Wow. Great video. Love your channel
Thanx for the video. Simple and fast build, cool. :)
Thank you so much! I needed an easy to do trap and this is perfect. I have mice and my property manager left those glue traps and I. Just. Can't. after watching a video on what happens when they get stuck to the glue!
Nice very informative love your work.
Fantastic , easy, clever.
Mouse says... Oh shite I'm trapped in this bottle. Nevermind, I must clean my tail as that is priority....
Brilliant idea, good job !!
When we put the cap on I really thought he was just gonna let it suffocate omg thank God he released it
Amazing a friendly trap!
I would've never looked this up but I heard a noise in my bread garage cabinet just now 5 am. I looked inside it and saw a mouse inside my plastic tall olive oil bottle jumping trying to get out and the bottle was 1/4 full of oil! I lost the cover so he was able to get in. I can't believe they can climb up slippery plastic bottles! He would've drowned if he didn't keep standing up the poor thing! I screamed. I couldn't believe what I was looking at. I immediately brought it outside. Lucky for him it's raining out so hopefully some oil will come off him. I dumped the oil out and kept the bottle tipped at an angel so he can climb out. I waited and waited but he was just sitting at the edge cleaning himself. After 20 min I was soaked so I left it and went inside. I'm gonna make this bottle now. Thanks!
He is basically soaked in food. He will lick himself clean and will be fine!
Thank you very much for sharing this my friend it worked for me, as far i didn't have all the resources, i had to improvise but i could catch one thank you very much again and god bless you!
Can this catch more than one mouse at a time or do I need to make multiple?
Thank you for making an actual HUMANE live trap!!! Too many channels make traps saying humane and then drown the mouse. Smh 🤬
I made a bunch more. Here is a short compilation of the others. Thanks!........ua-cam.com/video/Nxzs97lNQsw/v-deo.html
Ingenious. Simple, cheap, effective.
Glad you like it!
This is very clever and safe
I approve
It's funny but very useful. Thanks for the great tutorial.
im glad you released him😊
Just wanted to say THANK YOU for this video, I managed to catch the mouse that was hiding under my oven without hurting it, caught it within 2 hours of placing the trap down and I released it back in the field!!
That's great!
Great invention! It worked well for me. I put a small needle in each site of the bottle and glued a clothing pin vertically on the base on each side to make the same type of mechanism. And I found a can lid with a tab on sp I just needed one.
Great video. As always!
What a smart and humanly way of removing rodents!
I used this video to build my own and it worked! One mouse safely removed from the house - will reset for the next one. Thank you!
Excellent!
I always hated those mousetraps that snap, so I like this one WAY better, it's so nice and you can see the mouse and set it free. I love it!
This Works I used a large V8 bottle Only once did one get the bait and escape ......I oiled the inside top half of the bottle and the soup can lid .....so I think this might Help to avoid any more escapes. Great Trap THANKS
Good stuff!
"no animals were harmed in the making of this video"
The trap really works! I made one like this and it already caught two mice.
THANK
YOU FOR MAKE CATCH AND RELESE TRAPS!
Though I recommend puttting tiny breathing holes.
The most innocuous mouse trap ^^
Appreciate the catch and release
Thanks for this trap idea, that does not kill the mice.
This video was pretty creative! I love this idea! If only there were mice around my house to try this on.... Hmmm....
First trap I've ever built. I got 4 mice so far tonight (1 at a time, catch and release) and its just now about time for bed. Might be 5 by tomorrow
Dont know how many I have. Thought 1 or 2, but I was very wrong. Got at least 1 to go.
Awesome trap! Thanks! I would recommend taping the pen to the bottle to avoid heat warping. I used metal ducting tape. Strong and thin.
Also hot glue hot glue sticks to bottle caps over pen to avoid them knocking the bottle loose. They did that 2 or 3 times tonight before I modified it. Now it's perfect.
I'm using a wyze came to watch from upstairs. Night vision ftw. :)
Update: got 5 before I went to bed at 1am. Set it up around 5pm. Much of that was catching 1 at a time, releasing in the field down the street, reserting the trap, and fixing and modifying the trap as they were able to escape until I made changes.
My father caught 2 more by the time I woke up this morning. Lol
This trap is amazing.
Well yeah... The problem with "catch and release" is that one female mouse has 8 litters a year, with about 6 mice per liter. There's a population of 7 billion people and 20 billion mice. So that's about 3 mice for every 1 person. If you have a home with a family of 5 humans... Then you might have up to 15mice on that property also. Some studied suggest that your never more than 6-12ft away from a mouse at any given time.
Also, since covid started mice have been on the increase. With more people working from home or places being shut down they have been going crazy and moving around more to find sources of food.
The reason the bait and release doesn't work is because they have a strong sense of smell and can locatate that for miles and very easily come back since they like to stay within the same areas because they choose their homes based off of availability of food, since for their body size they need to eat a lot of food a day compared to humans and some other animals. They eat up to 3x their body weight or mass in food a day. Their teeth also don't stop growing so they constantly chew so they don't grow into the roof of their mouths into their brains.
Your best bet is to use the old fashioned wooden traps. Lay about 5-6 of them around the house. (Near your stove is the best, under it and on top by the back burner...especially if you have an electric stove since they often climb up the back exhaust burner) for bait use peanuts glued onto the trap or a lil bit of peanut butter.... I found the glued peanuts to work best.
They might be cute but they spread a lot of illness and diseases. Killing is the best option or you'll quickly get an investigation that can be difficult to stop. They can also chew your wires and cause damage to your home or house goods.
@@brooksozbrooks8514 you're on the wrong channel.
Ended up catching 20 within 24 hrs using this trap along side a double nail holding a lid up trap. They were about 50/50 on which caught the most.
I will say if you don't release the mouse asap a second mouse can come along and mess up the trap so you gotta be quick with this one.
It works great! I made one and baited it and put it under the sink . When I checked it an hour later a mouse was in it. 👍
For some reason they do not hesitate to go into this trap! Thanks!
You hear those footsteps?i hear that ever night 🤣 I’ll definitely try this today.
It worked perfectly
I love the catching live aspect because it seems so much more natural to feed the mouse to my snake alive rather than dead.
.
Great work
That's Awesome!!! U released the mice 🤘🏻🤞🏻👏🏻🤘🏻🤞🏻👏🏻
Genius. Really like your ideas; your smooth, stylish video productions; and that you share your tool recos. I've subscribed! Now, I have a rat in my garage... Any ideas for a rat-size version? Thanks, Chris!
Thanks for that! Yes I made a rat trap also! We don't have rats in our area but I was able to show a mouse being caught in the trap but it should work the same for rats. The one thing to do is once you have made the trap, is wash it thoroughly with only hot water of human scent before setting it. Here it is......ua-cam.com/video/uupveVzEV_E/v-deo.html
Divorce him 🤣🤣🤣, only joking❤️
Thanks, there are wild Red Tail Hawks in my Brooklyn neighborhood, who'll appreciate this. Plus it will attract them for some great close up pictures and videos.
Wonderful mousetrap =)
He had a look, Like he was sayin',"Ye got me, Partner!". ...Kee-hee! :)

Love it!
❤️❤️❤️ I'm so glad you made this! This really makes me happy that a humane way of trapping move are out there
Very good. Catch and release. Most humane. They deserve to live just like us.
Thank you 🇬🇧
If it catches more than one mouse, the trap may allow an escapee! lol
@Lâââ 😂😂🤘
@Hunterthegamer91 😆😆😆😆 that's cute 😍.
Very nice video to watch on making simple trap for house mouse! I'm going to try this and I never thought you could use 2 litre bottle of coca cola. Catch and set free!
I wish you were my dad, your so nice
Thanks this trap was very easy to make. I don’t like the ones I have to use electronic tools ⚒
Cool! You're so creative! 👍👍👍
Thanks for that!
Fantastic! Thanks!
The mouse looks so cute and innocent
he is innocent doing was he was ment to do...not fun for us but doesnt mean we have to trap them to glue to die or cut them in half with those mouse traps
Damn you should deserve 1M subs...
I hope that happens! Thanks for that!
excellent job , fun task stick!!!!
This guy seems like a pretty cool cat
There are no rats in my house but it was super duper helpful knowing thx next time if I get a rat problem I'll remember this very day and try it out
Dude if the mouse in our house is that cute I would want to keep it as a pet.
