Replacing the AC Blower Motor on the E36 BMDubya

  • Today we are going to be replacing our broken Blower Motor in the BMDubya. It's not our usual content, but I think some people will find this helpful so I tried to make the install short and sweet.

    (Can't remember the size, but most likely a T15 😅)
    27mm deep socket: amzn.to/2XKIlio
    13mm socket
    10mm socket
    7mm socket

    The BMW part number is 64118390208. There are some cheap options out there, but this is one of those jobs I prefer to only do once.

    If you have a hard time trying to get the wipers off try pushing down on them close to the nut (on the metal part) while prying up at the same time

    You have to remove the entire engine to get to the blower motor?! Or is the absence of the engine non related to replacing the blower motor?

    I noticed the sheet metal below the windshield has been bent upward quite a bit, allowing the blower fans to clear the opening. I'm tempted to do the same lol.

    i 100% understand why this guy stopped on this job. that clip holding the motor in is the reason why i parked a whole running e36 to be honest..

    i put 12 volts on the old fan and no spinny. can I do the same to the new fan and see spinny?

    You can't do it with the engine in place!! Sucks ass! German vid is an oler car with an old one sided fan so his was easy! Can't even fit the old fan out of the space between the engine and the fire wall!

      That could be the case, I don't know because my engine was out. I would imagine worse case scenario you could remove the intake to make more room.
