This is absolutely not optimized in the slightest. I just saw someone making an RTA run of this, and wanted to try and make a TAS out of it, since I was simply curious if I could do it faster with an alternative method.
I wasn't able to grab the ledge to get out of bounds when first grabbing the castle. To be honest it took around probably 20 minutes to just successfully get onto the castle. Not to optimize it, but just to GET to the top of the castle, so when the jump that was able to grab the ledge wasn't angled correctly to grab the specific part of the ledge that leads to out of bounds, I just didn't care, since getting to this point was a huge pain already.
Also, the movement to the castle itself is very poor. I wouldn't be surprised at all if a somewhat experienced RTA player beat this.

@@baksoBoy i did this once on a emulator back then and find it odd that it kills mario.
@@nintendians Aah I see. Yeah, the reason that happens is because the game is coded so that if mario is ever in a position that is concidrered out of bounds, then he dies. Normally you can't go into an area that is out of bounds, as if you are trying to walk into it, it pretty much acts like a wall. However some actions, like climbing up an edge, doesn't check foe if it is moving out of bounds like walking does. Thus when mario climbs up that edge, he ends up moving out od bounds, which then makes him die.

It probably is, but I was unable to pull it off
For some reason in the excoop that trick doesn't kill you if it doesn't teleport you to the creator of the room

Yeah, I thought a bit about that too. I don't know if I'm good enough to be able to navigate to the slope where I get on top of the castle with that much backwards speed to be honest though.
Also just so that you are aware, you are able to edit your comments, so you don't have to make multiple when wanting to add something
also maybe its possible do to a sblj on the cannon thing but it wont save too many time@@baksoBoy

Have you checked against just drowning? What's the time difference there? 23 seconds seems like a long time...
Drowning takes around a whole minute, assuming that you get to the water instantly

You say that like it is impossible to do RTA, but I literally didn't use any hard tricks that can't be done by humans...
