Count Arthur told me that he performed the pack of cards routine in one of the many war films he acted in. "I'm not sure if I did it in The Bridge on the River Wye, The Heroes of Telemarketing or Saving Ryan's Privates", said Arthur. The man is a legend. I really do.
And when I see the Four... I see the Four Apostles: John the Baptist St George Paul And Riiiiingo Just magnificent. I will tell you nothing for that Update 6 May. Saw Arthur last night in concert at Norwich. Superb. Wife was a bit neutral beforehand but one minute in and she was laughing out loud. Met Steve after the show and he signed an autograph for me, had a chat and we had a pic taken. A true entertainer who appeals to ever ready......ready brek.....everybody, everyboddddddy. What a privilege. Count Arthur Strong remains a tour de-force. They honestly did.
Simply brilliant I can watch these over and over. I can even laugh out loud every time I'm reminded that Count Arthur started out as a child actor as Little lord Fauntleroy and worked his way up.
In this day and age it is hard to find anyone else to match this man. I hope he performs for many years until reaches the age of the character he portrays.
He's so much funnier on stage and radio. The TV show was far too watered down for my liking, and the supporting characters didn't really add much sadly. But that's not to say that the TV series didn't have it's moments. The flying lesson was a particular highlight for me.
yeh the radio show is much better, and as you say, the supporting characters like sally, wilf, etc are much better on the radio. It was nice to see Count Arthur and John Shuttleworth in the same universe together though...
Here in the USA, we only recently found radio and other standup from CAS. I enjoyed the series immensely and obsessively. And I miss it now that it's not on Acorn. I've listened and watched his stand up on UA-cam and I like the series a whole lot better. I've seen one clip of 'Ask the Family" and that was hilarious!
For me the TV series was what elevated his material. I just saw him live and it was nowhere near as good as the series. He needs a straight man to counter his whittlings in my opinion.
I’ve loved the Count since I saw him in Bridge Over the River Kwai. His appearances in ‘Juliet Bravo’ and ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ were all too brief and teasing. Peaking in 1968-9 of course, he can still conjure a great performance, but ...... what was the question again?
I once played cards with Count Arthur once and suffice to say I lost my shirt. How he talked me into playing strip poker is still a mystery to me. Particularly, as we were playing "happy families" at the time. A case of one or two thriple scotches too many if truth be known. And it was from John Collie, so no rubbish! You couldn't make it up.
This Delaney bloke is seriously unfunny. How this series was ever commissioned is beyond comprehension. I watched two episodes just in case the first one was an aberration but they were both as bad as each other. It is not funny, hear me, NOT FUNNY.
Comedy is what makes you laugh. The Count is to Clever for some of which you appear to be in a minority in the negation of his humor. For me idiots like McIntyre, Jimmy Carr and countless others are not funny but I sure as hell will not go round slagging them off.

Wonderful! The Count's shows are the funniest things I've ever heard on the radio.
Absolutely hilarious. Tears streaming down my face. Just as funny as the radio shows.
And when I see the Four...
I see the Four Apostles:
John the Baptist
St George
Paul
And Riiiiingo
Just magnificent. I will tell you nothing for that

A comic genius and a nice bloke
Wonderful stuff!
Keep coming back to this when I feel sad. Never fails to cheer me up!
Saw him in leeds on sunday. My throats still sore with laughing. Comedy genius!!!!
Simply brilliant I can watch these over and over. I can even laugh out loud every time I'm reminded that Count Arthur started out as a child actor as Little lord Fauntleroy and worked his way up.
I'm 73 yoa and live in a nursing home, this made me laugh so much I actually pissed my self, again, matron is furious 😠 😡 👿
That lady crying in the audience sums up the great count
Can't wait till we see him in March. Saw him two years ago and was laughing so hard I was gasping for breath. Just brilliant.
Just one word TALENT! Love this.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT !!!!
In this day and age it is hard to find anyone else to match this man. I hope he performs for many years until reaches the age of the character he portrays.
I'm in tears 😂
Laughing so much me tea was jumping out of the mug!

I love this guy! Discovered the two seasons of Count Arthur Strong on Acorn... I watch it over and over and can't stop laughing! 😂

Yes, I agree. They moved him out of his familiar surroundings, gave him a weak and entirely support cast and ruined the whole thing.
For me the TV series was what elevated his material. I just saw him live and it was nowhere near as good as the series. He needs a straight man to counter his whittlings in my opinion.
The tv show was like a Christmas dinner, the Turkey was good, but not everyone likes sprouts, just a waste of space on the plate.

Could barely breathe while watching that. Can't wait to see the Sound of Mucus in may.
Genius.
John the baptist- St George- Paul- and RINGO!

........."and when I look at the six" hahahaha!
Absolutely brilliant. Saw the Count on his latest tour at the NST Southampton the other week. Very funny as usual !
Excellent as usual!
Brilliant!
Just brilliantly funny!
Pure genius!!
I can't wait to see the name Richard Briers up in lights. I really do.
*you really can't
brilliant!
"... the three blind wise men - hear no evil, see no evil, and SPEAK WHEN YOU'RE SPOKEN TO ..."
The Count at his irascible best. Sadly, they tone him down a bit for the TV show. This particular clip is nothing short of comic genius.
I really do.
Yep by watering him down in the tv show they killed the character.
ha-ha-ha-ha...etc. loved him since the sodding radio days.
Love him so much!
Absolutely brilliant
More please!
Sublime
Genius , pure and simple
My face hurts after watching that
wonderful. going to see him in Bristol in june.
I really do.
*ABSOLUTELY TOP NOTCH COMEDY.*
Hilarious! :-)
Outstanding comedy.
Will forever remind me of my dad. If you didn't get it then you have no sense of humour.
Roll on 23rd...
Another Harry Worth? Both hilariously funny.
I said on more than several occasions
God made the world in 6 days and on the 7th day he was arrested. That's what you get for showing off, i really do
Absolute bounder i say,bounder
"..even for that miserable so an' so!
Yes! Count Arthur is never wrong about nasty bastard 'turns' like Briars!
It's genius....
So funny
brill entertainment
Sheer Genie's
That chap in the audience withe hat. Grr, if I was sat behind him I'd want to take it off. Off him.
The Count being a middle ranking royal must surely have been an officer in the 1st World War?.
Best thing since sliced bread.
Nimble?
I'd be knocking that hat off that bloke in front of me . Attention seeker
😄
TV show. Great, I haven't heard his radio stuff so can't comment. But his stand up is crap....
Unbelievably terrible.
This Delaney bloke is seriously unfunny. How this series was ever commissioned is beyond comprehension. I watched two episodes just in case the first one was an aberration but they were both as bad as each other. It is not funny, hear me, NOT FUNNY.
Have you seen the rest of the comments? You seen to be in a minority!
Did you look at his name? It maybe Richard Briers
richardb154 sour grapes Johnny??

Its a certain type of humour i love him i find him hilarious ..u just dont get it ,u probably find lee evans funny
Sorry, just not funny, its forced humour. He just seems to be drunk or senile, neither of which I'd laugh at.
