Wonderful video, very calming. N.D.V is a beauty and she looks very comfortable.
Thank you and so glad you enjoyed it. She sure is a comfortable vessel. :)
Another great video! Brightwork looks 👌
Thank you and so glad you enjoyed it. Varnishing has become my therapy! ha
Love your chilled out films with your beautiful boat.
So glad you enjoy them. :)
Your boat looks magnificent at anchor!
Thank you. :). 🙏
C.1950 Mom, Dad and and I moved from SK to a small house on Ten Mile Point. My school, Doncaster, was near Cadborough Bay. The Point was fairly wild then, not full of large residences as it is now. I follow your voyages dreaming that it was I rounding the point in such a wonderful vessel. She would be named Moon Shadow.
Great memories of a great place and thank you for sharing that. :). 🙏
It is such a pleasure to start a day with this video.
Thanks.
So glad this was part of the Strat to your day. :)
I'd forgotten how beautiful your boat was, loved the video, as usual. Fair winds!
Thank you and so glad you enjoyed this episode. Fair winds to you as well. :)
nice enjoyed pls make more :)
Thanks for sharing! You know the varnishing is serious when there’s a spreadsheet involved!
Glad you enjoyed it and yes, I don't know what I would do without the spreadsheet! ha
Way to start off a Saturday evening
Great to hear!
It's always a fun ride with you
So glad you enjoyed coming along. :)
Another relaxing video. It's a rough time you're having between shifts. Thanks Alfi.
So glad you enjoyed this one and sure is nice to get out on the days off! :)
hi was sailing . lets look hug nice you have a video :)
I always enjoy your music selections but I must say the ambient sounds while under sail were perfect! Nice touch for sure.
I thought it would be nice to just let everyone hear the sounds I was for parts of this, glad you enjoyed that. :)
That was so peaceful it was nurturing to the soul. I love your choice of music and of course the sound of wind and waves. That boat is absolutely stunning! Thanks for taking us along Alfy. Hi Devlin! 💞.....................⛵⛵⛵
Thanks so much and so glad you enjoyed this one. :)
The brightwork is looking pretty spiffy!
The shot of ND-V at 05:30 was superb, the light was beautiful.
Thank you and that sure was a nice light that the sunset gave. :)
Thanks for sharing this beautiful sail with all of us . Enjoy your time on board. Stay well. Stay happy. Peace.
You are welcome and so glad you enjoyed coming along for the sail. :)
Great video as always, watching this makes me miss being out on the water.
Thank you and I hope you can get out onto the water soon. :)
My 2nd week viewing your channel. Really enjoyed it, looking forward to watching for along time. Haven't sail in years but I'm getting the bug fast. 👍
So glad you are here for week two and I hope you enjoy some of the older content as well as the new content. :)
Another great video! Of course, always loving the boat. Nice shot of the line on the capstan as you pull out. As always, Happy sailing and fair winds from Craig in South Carolina!
Thank you Craig and always appreciate your comments. :)
Echoing what all the comments say. Video and music spot on. Love seeing her with the sails up. I’m currently down in Martinique scoping out an 2012 Oceanis 50 (only because I can’t find a HC 43 like yours). Yes. I’m jealous 👍
Thanks so much and so glad you enjoyed seeing the sails up. At least you are out on a sailboat so sounds pretty great to me! :)
Thanks for yet another particularly special vicarious experience you live in such a beautiful part of the world it is a shame the water is probably cold enough to turn a Bull Walrus falsetto.
Northern Dancer is an exceptionally clean, beautifully maintained and generally pretty yacht and the varnish looks absolutely great.
It is also a pleasure to enjoy the tranquility of normal ambient sounds rather than music.
While music was absent subject to such calm conditions she sounded a bit like a coffee grinder while under power however so have you checked her cutlass bearings and transmission lately?
So glad you enjoyed this one and glad you enjoyed the natural sounds. Varnishing and cleaning Northern Dancer V is my therapy, so it is great that I don't ming doing that work. ha. Oh yes, the cutlass and transmission are fine, that sound is from the GoPro, when it is attached to a part of the boat, it doesn't record a very good sound at all. :)
Ever think to take part in the Swiftsure race...Cant get the question mark key to work.CHEERS from SOOKE CITY!!! P.S.I kept my first wooden boat in Cadboro Bay turned upside down in someones yard beside Gyro park.I was 12 years old.The motor was a 57 Johnson 5 1\2 and it would pop out of gear unless held in.The boat was an 8 ft,ex sailboat tender.
I have thought about doing the Swiftsure, maybe next year. Fun story of your time in Cadboro Bay! :)
Love your boat Alfie, the HC would be my choice if I ever was in a position to get one so enjoy it for the rest of us. Regards from Ireland's west coast.
Thank you and she sure I a great vessel that we are very happy with. Fair winds from Canada's west coast. :)
Delightful video. Dancer looks great. Where’s Devlin?
Thank you and she will be back for an appearance soon. :)
Once again Alfy takes us along for a lovely sail on the waters of Canada. Thankyou. Out of interest, now that finally I am a boat owner and also have woodwork to maintain on deck and down below, I was wondering what finish are you using on your boat and perhaps why. Currently, I am finishing off the woodwork on deck on my boat using Sikkens Cetol marine. From my experience, 4 coats seems to last around approx 2 years before one needs to refinish.
So glad you enjoyed coming along for this trip. I use Epifanes and my recipe takes 12 coats to complete, so not recommended if you don't find varnishing therapeutic. ha. I was 6-7 years in on the varnish with our last boat and it still looked good, that was with some top coating in between those years.
@@lifeislikesailing Thanks Alfie for the heads up on using Epiphanes. It’s not a varnish finish I have yet tried out. 12 coats wow that’s a lot. I just finished refinishing the woodwork on deck on my boat. I applied 5 coats of Sikkens Cetol marine. Mind you 2 years ago I applied 4 coats after stripping all the old finish off back to bare wood. Not a job I wish to do in a hurry again. I am sure, over the next 2 years of so, I probably will have to give it a bit of a touch up here and there. A friend of mine had his toe rails done using Epiphanes, I think they applied around 8 coats but alas on the stern it has failed. I am not sure what went wrong. Ahh boat maintenance, it keeps us busy for sure 😁.
I like your video style. Some constructive criticism; make sure your audio is on both right and left channels. I watch videos while working and have only one ear bud in. It's a little distracting when the audio goes out.😊
Glad you liked the video, sadly I had faulty mic issues this trip.
I Know Your Retired Like i But pls Make More Videos :) !H
Can you do a yearly cost review?
I'll see if I can, that varies year to year based on projects on the go of course. :)
what boat is that?
s/v Northern Dancer V is a 1979 Hans Christian 43 Ketch. :)
