I guess the fan inside the stove actually needs energy? If you want to conserve some energy you could just put a small Heat powered fan on top of the stove. They are pretty cheap and very effective while using no power at all. :-)

I watch this video over and over again. I think its because I enjoy the ingenuity of the layout, and....the warmth of the home. Practical solutions and it is warm and cozy...like a home should be. Great job on outfitting and videoing, Life is Like Sailing!

I've had a dream to live aboard and sail for 40 years. I live inland and traded that dream for 3 great kids, several house renovations and even a small horse/hobby farm for 10 years. At this point in life (68), I have a 22' Catalina on a trailer in the back yard, where it has suffered from my neglect and, finally, a big tree fall. Your video rekindles those old dreams and hopefully some action as well!

As I think about it, maybe the tree damage is God's "nudge". Lots to repair, but easy access to tools & materials. Good beginner project!Now, where did I leave that ambition??

Hey Alfie, excellent job, flipped on to this as could not find active sailing channel that i like. Started to watch for a minute, watched till the end. to my surprise facsinating. You are a detail guy,I love what you have done and love your boat. she looks beautiful and comfortable. I love C&C, had a 24 for about 12 years . sailed all round the lower mainland and sechelt bowen , never made it to the gulf , a regret. Just after or perhaps the same time we purchased, my wife was pregnant. I know great planning on my part. I can still recall heeled over like crazy saying isn't this great dear. she did not agree. I think it was also diesel fumes. i think at the time it had a dickinson oil heater. it was strong small smell of diesel that made every thing worse. Long story short, removed the heater. sailed with babies in local waters for a number ofl years,-- Brent

Full enclosures are great. We couldn't imagine not having ours. I have talked to some people who had ice boxes. Doesn't seem very fun. Very well set up and nice boat.
This reminds me of a cartoon I seen as a child. A small tent in the desert from the outside that looked like the Taj Mahal from the inside.

Just found your channel. Impressive work you have done to your C&C. Looks very comfortable. Lots of helpful information. Look forward to watching your other videos of the upgrades. Last summer, I purchased a 76' Ranger 23. Since then, I've been giving it some needed upgrades. Overall, It's been fun project to work and sail on. I dream of upgrading to a live aboard some day... Thoroughly enjoyed watching this virtual tour of your lovely boat and home. You have to be consistently neat and tidy on board a boat I know, but you have paid such beautiful attention to detail yet kept simplicity as well. Kind of reminds me of a military "everything squared away" sort of discipline. Well presented boat/home. I like the fact that you don't see the point in renewing things just for the sake of renewing them. The 'old world charm' of this vessel is in the woods and deep red colours used. Well done again.

It is easier to heat dry air than wet air, but wet air feels warmer. But obviously dry air is the goal on a boat, and I love your dehumidifiers.

Yes i really love your sailboat and it looks really great, you have inspired me to do the exact same thing, I just bought a 1978 30 foot O"day sloop and the layout is exactly the same, just my kitchen is on the left side, I'm working on my sailboat right now and I should have it in the water in June , I wish you the best , I live down here in sunny Bradenton Florida and I'm putting my boat in a really nice cove and I'll use my 14 foot skiff to go over to shore ,, I'm watching for your next video , take care buddy :-)

Hmmm...I lived aboard for 11 years (still have the boat) on a 39 ft double ender. Never did get around to putting up any kind of bimini, but never let it shorten my sailing season. I still sail year round on the west coast of B.C. It would certainly have extended the living area while at anchor though, and would be my main reason for adding one if I was living aboard again.
When I bought the boat in 1995 the fridge was out of order so I tossed it and never did get around to replacing it. It just meant shopping for fresh food more often and changing diets a little. I also discovered vacuum sealing which is nearly as good as a fridge (except for ice cream!). I used vacuum sealing a few years ago on a 2 month dinghy trip as well...try it its great!
