WELCOME! Come take a look inside my homemade, hand built, DIY truck camper I built in 51 days during COVID quarantine, with ZERO prior experience!
To see the detailed step-by-step process of the build, be sure to check out my channel and the rest of the videos I have already posted.

DISCLAIMER: My design was based off Casual Turtle Campers and the YT user @ENDGAME. I am a complete beginner when it comes to woodworking. After finding @ENDGAME's channel, I became obsessed with the idea of building my own, and set out to do so, knowing it wouldn't be easy, but still believing it possible. My goal with this series is to hopefully show others (with zero experience, like me) that building a truck camper is possible no matter where your resources lie.

Thanks for watching, and be sure to subscribe if you like the build!

Awesome man!
I noticed that the link is no longer working. Just want to give you a heads up.
I am an old carpenter. I can say in all honesty that you are better than you think. 80% of guys I work with could not do a job close to what you have created
Wow, I find that hard to believe! but thank you very much. I really want to continue with woodworking, and hopefully I can get better and better. This comment is really motivating, thank you
Keep it up. !
Thats a seriously good looking cabin on a truck. So much more character than a fiberglass camper. Simple and compact. I love it.
Thanks so much!
Not bad for a young man. Good, standard build. You kept the basics and didn't complicate anything, thus making a solid little truck camper.
For having zero prior experience, im highly impressed
Really appreciate that! The build definitely sparked an interested in woodworking and design. Excited to further grow this year and expand the channel with more builds. Thanks for watching!
@@brandoconklin I'm subscribed!! Also, have friends I'm going to share your channel with.
This kids brilliant! I'm going to do this to my truck for my girls they'll love it!! Like having your own mini RV!!
Do it! and then send me a picture of it lol
Looks good. Big enough to sleep in, small enough to leave on the pickup. Maybe a box kitchen, easy to move.
I am very impressed. I would never have thought of using cedar fence boards. 👍
Hi Brandon, I'm watching all your videos and so impressed, not just with the build, but your film-making skills. I have a small truck (Mazda B3000) and want to build this with the help of a friend. I've been trying to figure something out to camp in, I am 68 now and need more security and comfort. This will work for me, and I plan to Snowbird to AZ. Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us, you're brilliant ;) Denise
You are too kind! Thank you thank you. That sounds like an awesome project and I would love to see pictures of it when you get to building. Feel free to reach out if I can help in any way!
You're a gifted young man.
I used my Tahoe to make an internal camper, I'll share vids of that one day.
God bless your journey.
I have the same rear view backup/dash camera, I found rubber plugs in the back wall of my cab, so I ran the wire through a plug, under the bed, and mounted the rear camera above the rear bumper next to the spare tire crank slot. It works great and is invisible to everyone else
Very nice build. Especially for a young not carpenter or woodworker. Might think about cheap (harbor freight) solar & small battery system. A little power is always nice.
Very well thought out and executed setup you have my friend
Wow, that’s some precise work. Beautifully done, super practical and really rustic looking.
Wow!! you did an awesome job of your truck camper build...The oil lamp is different, COOL... Love it!!
My god this is so amazing I’m glad I found your page!!! I’m based in northern Cali and want to build my own on my Tacoma and this inspired me so much🥰🥰🥰
That's awesome love the simplicity of it.
Thank you!
I just started building one of these last night. Might need to borrow a few of your ideas. Great build man! Well done.
Dude, I am in love with this. Such a great job.
That's a really great camper! Well done!
I like the curves that you cut into the ceiling joists
Love it! Great Job!
Wow dude this is incredible! Much respect
Best homebuilt truck camper I've seen. Thanks!
Nice work...very creative!
This is awesome. Great job friend.
Thanks! :)
Seriously great job !!!
Very impressed! Amazing job
Lovely! Great Job!
Very good. Great work. Nice inside and out. Thanks for video :)
Great job, love it!
The desk 😍😍
Bloody good job.
Really cool !
I stay in Los Angeles and I can't wait to see this on one of our local highways. Great job. I have a Ram 2500 and I am considering doing something similar. I may have to hit you up for some advice :-). Subscribed!
Thank you! Happy to help with any questions you may have; just know in advance that I am a beginner, and any advice will be solely based off my own build. Otherwise, honk if you see me!
Awesome, Great for a quick get away.
This is awesome 😎
I put alot of french cleats on my build ,they work awesome, can hang many assorted applications.
Awesome build
awesome, your interior rocks
Love this!
Verrrryyy cool! love it
This is awesome!!!!
Totally love it ..great job...I'm wanting to do something like this for my flatbed..
Kinda chuckled when you showed the theft prevention with the carabiners, and then immediately tell people how to get passed it and what tool to use lol
That was pretty funny.
Very nice build! Easy and simple! Good for you.
Thank you!
Looks great. Nice job.
I really enjoyed this series! As a newbie wood worker I appreciate your great efforts!
I appreciate you watching!
This is the best build I seen yet!!!
Great job! I built one, had a great time doing it
Thanks! I agree, already thinking of the next one I can build
Love that desk idea!
I like your idea for the rear hatch/door.
Hell yeah dude, I've been following your build closely. I've got plans to build something very similar on my tacoma
Thanks, man! Get after it!
Very cool 😎👍
Looks like a professional job. WELL DONE!!!
Thank you!
Very cool build. Looking forward to what you do with the rear seat area. I removed the rear bench seat from my Tacoma (04) and built a platform on passenger side for the fridge and cubbies on the driver's side for Pelican cases etc. Seats take up a heap of space.
Appreciate it! That sounds like a good set up you got there. My plan will be something along the same lines, just trying to figure out a modular system that can be easily removed if need be
@@brandoconklin based on the camper build it will be spectacular.
That's great build!
Great Build. always, Tommy🤠
I love DIY campers. I think. you did a great job!
Man it sure came out nice. I really like it. Looks good.👍
Thank you, sir!
This is cool I love it
Great job and you saved tons of money doing it yourself!
Very cool,I plan to do the same thing for my s10 truck.
Cool setup dude
Nice build young man!
Very nice build 👌 wow !
Great job!
Nice job happy new year.
Perfect. Nice and simple and clean! You were my first watch in my researching a build fir my ridgeline. Have you thought about cutting access ports to be able to access your wheel well dead space from inside the camper?
Thanks man! I did think about it, but then I did the measurements and the wheel well space for my tacoma at those positions is about a 5in deep x 10" box, and I didn't think that small amount of extra storage was worth the work
Dude I live near you! I've been wanting to do the same with my tacoma. I own some land up in Crestline. I also bought a bunch of lumber. Now I just need the time and motivation. But bravo man! Truly a work of art! You need need to figure out a process to capitalize on this if you haven't already. Nice work man!
Awesome.
I got to start planning and gathering materials so I can do this to my truck. I like that boiled linseed oil look. If I do that, I will do a plastidip clearcoat or lacquer coat.
Let me know how it goes!
beautiful!
Great job! I'm thinking of doing something similar. I'm intrigued by your door design. Have you had it in a serious downpour yet? Does it leak around the door at all? I'm curious because I live in Oregon where rain is a definite issue.
Thank you! I actually just experienced this week the first downpour with the camper on, and I was surprised to find no leakage coming from the door. That said, living in Oregon is definitely a different beast; I would recommend taking the time to ensure a full seal, perhaps using metal trim pieces where the top and bottom doors meets so that there is less a chance of rain slipping between the crack. But again, I say this still as a beginner...just going off of how mine has held up so far.
Nice job bud. I like it. Simple but nice.
Nice work
Dang you did a hell of a job!! Looks great!!! I WANT ONE!!! 😁👍
BEAUTIFUL BUILD!!! Love it!!! I’m gonna check out your build series. Happy New Year!!! Me and mine wish you and yours all things great and good!!! Take care, be safe, all my best and God bless!!! Chuck Knight from Buffalo, Texas. 🤠🐩🖖✝️👍🙏🎄☃️
Hey, thank you! Means a lot, appreciate you watching and glad you enjoyed. Happy New Year!
I love the dark wood … beautiful job!
Thank you!
Split Dutch doors perfect idea. You did a fine job. I want to do this for my F-350 8’ bed. So it will be bigger. But same kind of style. I’ll fully insulate it. I also want to put camper jacks on so I can go on and off the truck much simpler than getting an army of people to help me. I’d like to be able to do that 100% alone. Question for you? Tell us more how you rigged it and hold it firmly to the truck bed? The key to my peace of mind would be knowing my tie points are bulletproof so the camper can’t move in X, Y or Z planes. Cheers. Loved the series. I binge watched all episodes.
My dad was the wood worker.Im the
Electrical,Sheetmetal .. Good job.Do
Insulate it. World of difference. Linseed oil is good..
Love it! Well played sir.
Great job
Planed fence pickets with laps is brilliant
To save money the same could be done with pallet boards... there are websites where companies post that they have pallets they don’t want, there’s a company a mile from me that almost always has over two hundred they want hauled away...
@@Rick_Sanchez_C137_ That is true and would look great. I like the idea of using cedar because it's light and weather resistant. Not that it matters in this situation but did you know that some pallets are treated with chemicals to make them rot resistant? I just found this out. It's something that you wouldn't want to use inside your home. I thought all were the same
Really enjoyed your build series. I want to build something very similar for my soon to be purchased Tacoma, except I want to add solar eclectic, insulation, diesel heater, and A/C for dealing with Wisconsin conditions.
You keep saying you don't know what you are doing, yet your camper turned out fantastic.
Thanks for taking the time to document your build.
All that stuff might be a bit heavy for a Tacoma
@@jakebirkmaier5703 Payload capacity is listed at 1200#. I believe I can come in well under that. Don't plan a cab over build.
@@russellthompson6204 I’m planning on building a truck camper for my 03 Dakota with a 1700 lb payload. I was worried about going over weight because of the research I’ve done, I believe most truck campers are above 2,000 lbs. I am planning on building a 2x4 frame with a cedar exterior, plexiglass windows, and enough room for a queen bed. Would you want to send plans back and forth we we can trade ideas?
@@jakebirkmaier5703 Im going for a MUCH lighter frame and only need a 25 inch wide single bed. I won't be using or drawing up any plans. Not my style. I've built lots of things, including a camping trailer without any plans.
This is the best camper build on UA-cam
And this ^ is the best comment on UA-cam. Thank you!
I'm very impressed I'm looking for ideas . FYI The best stove is the kind they use in catering . It takes a butane canister it comes in plastic brife case I got one from the dollar store with butane $28 bucks out the door
Hey, great job. I'm in the process of building version 2 of a camper for my Tacoma. Maybe see you on the PCH sometime....
Right on! Say hi if you do!
I love it.
So cool
nice camper, i would execute this build to the last nut and bolt, i would add jacks on the sides of the camper to take it on and off too
You have inspired me. Really like the non clutter and economical build. Jim. Outback Australia.
Appreciate the kind words, friend!
very good😀😀😀
Cool.
The ruggedness of these vehicles is almost better than sprinter vans. Much cheaper too
Yo that thing is awesome only thing is you should put hinges on inside cause it’s extremely easy to just pop the door off completely even if locked
If it had a shower, I could live in it. Awesome job ! 👍
Well done
So I've watched your build videos and am inspired to build my own. Love the final outcome and design but I'm trying to decide if I should build the full on insert camper, like you, or something simple, like a topper. Seems like I could save a lot of the build by not building anything below the top of the truck bed. Any thoughts?
Really depends on your own personal wants and needs! As you know from watching my series, I copied my design from another UA-camr, so that was my first reason for doing the complete slide-in unit. I also wanted it so that the interior wasn't the bed lining of my truck; plus, I needed the horizontal length above the truck bed to make my full-size bed setup
Nice job I like what you did
hey if your rearview mirror camera they make power adapters I see you have a power wire it plugs into your camera and into the back of your mirror I was able to get one on Amazon for my truck and I have a wireless one on my camper trailer works great it might elemeant one of your wires check amazon for your make and model I really enjoyed your build thanks for sharing
Good job
