I actually got this one before House did! The girl had me stumped, but when I saw the brother acting violently, I figured it out. See, testosterone causes lots of animals to go nuts during mating season, when their levels are higher than usual. Like hares fighting every other hare in the area, or elephants rampaging and destroying entire villages. Humans usually just start doing extremely stupid or dangerous things for attention, but aggression and violence are not out of the question with an overdose.
The elephants example is an interesting one. For anyone reading this who doesn't know, male elephants will go through periods known as musth during which their testosterone levels are (on average) about 60 times higher than normal. They become EXTREMELY dangerous during this period, and will just go around killing random animals. Traditionally, domestic elephants get chained to a tree and denied food and water for several days, which causes the condition to pass more rapidly, but in the west, since we consider that cruel, we lock them in a room with no stimulation for a month or longer (which I believe to be far more cruel, but in our culture that's seen as nicer.)

Some do it just cause they hate the peach fuzz, but most of those women get it from their genetics/ethnicity. Italians, Indians, etc. Sometimes it can be hormonal, but it can’t also just be normal.
When house questioned the teacher about having her upper lip waxed, I thought what's that got to do with anything?, then the dad came out with the enhancement cream routine lol🤣

She is a great actress she is also on another TV show with Cameron. Once upon a time playing snow white as a kid and Cameron plays Emma snows daughter. Her name is Bailee Madison. Look her up.
The boy had 100x the normal testosterone for his age, hence why he was being so aggressive throughout the episode. Only reason he wasn't experiencing symptoms earlier was because he got into so many fights at school, he would get nose bleeds which would prevent him from getting blood clots. Whereas her sister wasn't getting the blood drained out of her body and that's why she got symptoms before him.
Unfortunately it’s quite common.some policy’s are idiotic as are some people.I’ve had a friend who as a kid was abused ,it left him with ptsd .skip to our teens ,the abuser is gone and it’s over,he had a breakdown on me one day when we were alone in school and he told me everything(I had no prior knowledge)someone must have overheard our chat and assumed it was ongoing abuse and reported it…the first thing the damn school did?!called his home to ask if he was being abused.just so much wtf in this whole situation.fortunately his mother explained .but goddamn that was a stupid and dangerous thing to do on the school’s part!
@@agoldfishwithinternet2382 It's also an unfortunate thing where there isn't exactly a better way to go about investigations. Though flat out asking if a parent is abusing their kid is uh...whoever asked that question was new on the job. I hope.
This is why people can get testosterone injection instead of gels or pills, so kids can not get into it, and gel can be rubbed off when hugging, or pets can lick the gel off. It is even on the Tgel packages as a warning to prevent it getting on someone else
I love House too, but I have to say this: an arrogant bastart of doctor who is always sure that he's right is much more fun on a TV show than in real life. I'm terminally ill, but still feel like I'm going into battle every time I have an appointment with my doc. (And yeah, he's hot.)
"Dad is abusing her." "Dad doesn't look like he reads nutrition labels." "Dad's dating the teacher." "Dad uses enhancement cream." They were just fishing for ANY reason to blame the dad. I guess even a broken clock is right twice a day.
If kids are mysteriously sick, 70% of the time it's because of the parents. Either directly, or from something the parent had no control over. Going back to him over and over is just responsible.
Love the Puerto Rico reference... everytime we can slightly educate the public about the disadvantages and abuses colonies go through, it is a nice contribution.
To be honest I would rather have a team of doctors asking me every question under the Tuscan sun It's kind to save my daughter son sister stepmom father rather than trying to be my friend

Unfortunately this kind of stuff does happen: in 2022 some kids in Taiwan were reported to have periods as young as the age of 3, due to some skin care products that their parents applied to their skin.
I started going into puberty by the time I was five years old. I started growing boobs when I was six, I had my period when I was nine and by the time I was 12 I was already an H cup. Growing up, my family didn’t actually pay much mind to my growing body because the woman in my family have always been early bloomers, but my grandmother had always suspected me to have a hormone problem because a 12 year old should not have boobs the size of trucker wheels ( her exact words). My grandmother also told me that the reason why I have such a big boobies is because of all the corn I eat. I love me some corn, but when I was 15 my mom took me to a doctor and I ended up getting a breast reduction when I was 18. And now as a 25-year-old. I am going to an endocrinologist tomorrow because my general physician tested me that I have a hormone problem. She told me what the name of the hormone was, but I don’t remember what it was but it started with an R. Ironically, I went to the doctors to test me for PCOS, which I have by the way, and now I have to get tested for a hormone problem that I’ve always known that I had. Being a woman is fun😑.

I was thinking it was going to be precocious puberty. I recently listened to an interview with Patrick Burleigh, about his experience and his father, grandfather and great grandfather who all had the condition. He explained they all acted out in various ways, but the story of the great grandfather is probably the most amazing (enlisting for WWI at aged 11, he was nearly 6ft with a full beard). Don't want to spoil it, well worth a read of his story, or a listen via one of the many interviews he's done about it. I found the story via the audio interview at BBC Outlook, titled 'I went through puberty at 2 years old'.
i started puberty at age 5 :) it's weird to hear doctors talking about it and making it seem like a really bad thing - the doctor just gave me hormone repressors and told my mum id be fine lol. then again i wasn't also dying
In this case, it was cause the father had a T enhancer to keep up with the teacher, resulting in bis body emitting hormones onto the children through his pores/glands.
My husband is on testosterone. They have this kind you can use as deodorant that has all these warning about me not touching it. We went with the shots because that freaked me out.

@@theofairy4077 It contains phytoestrogen which is so named because it is similar in shape, and binds to the same receptors due to that shape. Phytoestrogen and estrogen are dissimilar in composition. In addition, there is no study that concludes an effect of phytoestrogen on human beings. The studies that do exist primarily examine their effects on ruminant digestive animals- which process phytoestrogen containing foods multiple times to pull all available nutrition. Conversely, humans are monogastric and simply circulate it, and excrete it in urine. The claims toward soy foods increasing estrogen levels also fail to mention that phytoestrogen can sometimes act as an antagonist to estrogen, because they want people to believe that consuming soy will make you 'womanly'. Beer, apples, carrots, coffee, and spinach also contain phytoestrogen, and yet they escape the same scrutiny that soy products do. I invite you to examine whether that might have anything to do with the baseless conception of the superiority of a Western Diet vs an Eastern Diet.
The main issue with that is edamame, or unprocessed soy. And it's only really in high quantities where you see any effect, and that's high quantities in kids. Sometimes. Generally since it's not the exact same chemical, most bodies can process and ignore it.

The potential issues are more with using them on teenagers, but again, potential. I googled it & it's considered precocious puberty before 8 years of age in girls and 9 years in boys. The main causes of precocious puberty may be caused by tumors or growths on the ovaries, adrenal glands, pituitary gland, or brain. Other causes may include central nervous system problems, family history of the disease, or certain rare genetic syndromes. Nowadays there's more food control, normally food would be the last issue. If you're in the medical field, police, etc, I think you are pretty much obligated by law to report if you suspect someone may be being abused in that way.
Would you rather be safe than sorry !
@@AmvReverdedStudios also, if i'm correctly informed, a sign of abuse is actually early onset of puberty (hence the cases of pregnant 6y/o). soo... this would still be important to check.

He's usually wrong a dozen times first before he gets it right.
1. A team of yes men isn’t good
2. He tell them to do things that make no sense. He once risked paralysis because a child screamed
@@lifelikelisa yeah. I mean, House gets a lot of things right first because he's the whole point of the show, but all of the doctors manage to get a diagnosis first at least once iirc
That’s a good point, and also made me think of the South Park episode where they play paintball with teenagers haha
The suspense from considering every angle like they do is impactful. I love this show.
Epps is perfect for this role too.
I just want to point out how a lot of women get their lips waxed just like their eyebrows. As esthetician, I’ve seen many women you routinely get their lip, chin, etc. waxed. @@NotMykl Semantics.
It's coincidental, but Cameron being ignored for the soy comment tickles me.
Soy does not contain estrogen that acts in any way on the human body.
It has phytoestrogens which mimic estrogen activity.
In the blooper reels for this season the actor who played the little boy was doing a scene and either slipped or misstep and hit the ground hard from the looks of it and just got right back up.

The potential issues are more with using them on teenagers, but again, potential. I remember watching this episode when I was a kid. It affected me.
I had my first period when I first turned 9. They did a full exam, MRI and found nothing unusual. Doctor said the same thing about hormones in food.
I think 9 for a girl can be perfectly fine if it's in the family history.
