I've tried to make moss green & sage. First time I made moss green, it turned out to my satisfaction. Second time, not so much. I kept adding color, so now I have this beautiful blue color. I've only mixed once for sage & I like it. Next time, I will have your knowledge to help mae. Thank you. I love mixing color!
Exactly what I needed to know... thank you! I was painting these darn apples for class and everything was going surprising well... then I arrived at the green apple and it all fell apart because of muddy paint mixes. I think I will try again tomorrow, with a little more confidence.
I know about pigments, but I didn't realize how different the same color is from brand to brand. Most paints have the pigment name listed, such as PBK7, which is Lamp Black. My Paynes Grey is a mix of Pthalo Blue, Lamp Black and Dioxazine Violet (what?). Mixed with Lemon Yellow actually makes a vibrant green. But mixed with my Cad Yellow Med, makes a very dull, lifeless olive. Yep, my mix contains PW6, Titanium White. There is extensive data on the internet about the pigments and their name. This a very helpful post. Well done, thanks.
I’m so glad this was helpful! Hidden pigments can be super annoying but once you know they’re there it’s like you have the cheat codes to picking paint 😂
I under estimated green... and I struglled to get correct green in landscape painting. U solved the mystery. Super LIKE... It would be great if you could make a video and guiding us what greens to be used in different seasons, e.g. spring, winter, morning, day, evening, after rain etc. Thank you.
I wounder if you could help me I have bought a paint to paint a wall which I thought was a dark green it turns out to be very similar to the teal is there anyway I can make it to the dark green??
I was taught to make a colour chart, so I know what to expect when I mix yellow and blue. Every combination of a different yellow and a different blue will give you a different green. It all depends upon which green you are seeking and how you plan on using that particular colour.
Thank you for the explenation. I think that in liqutex PWxx is pegment white PB is blue and so on. The xx is maybe the procentage or the nomber of the pegment
I’m a little confused by some things. I’m looking at my Golden Cadmium Red Light. It only has one pigment listed. Did you say any color with the word “light” in it had white ?
Hi! Not necessarily. Some paints that have "light" in the name might not have white. It's just an indicator to double check the pigments so you know what (if any) extra colors you're letting into your mixtures!
to tone down your green, you'll want to add a little bit of red! And to make it lighter, add white like always. Red and green are complementary colors so they'll tone each other down!
@@laurelgreenfieldart sweet!:) Thank u !I bought a little 24 piece paint set but the 3 greens r way too dark for what need ,Thanks again I'll try n mix a small batch;)
I've already learned so much & you're just getting started! 🙃
Thank you!
Do you have trouble mixing vibrant greens? Let me know in a comment!
