Jeep Gladiator - Can you fit 35s stock?

  • A common question is can you fit 35"s on a Jeep Gladiator without a lift. So before I installed my lift, I decided to test fit my new 35x12.5x17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Wheels are Icon Rebounds, 17x8.5 with a -6mm offset. Keep in mind these wheels push the tire out further than if you were using the stock wheel.
    Z Automotive Tazer Mini (recalibrates for larger tires, gives you the 0-60 timer, can turn off the auto start/stop, etc)

    I just installed 35/12.50 R18's on my '22 Overland stock rims with no lift.
    The only thing I did was add 1.75" Hub-centric spacers.
    No rub lock to lock, drives fine. So short answer, 12.50's on stock rims with no lift. Just needs spacers.

    Great video. Replacing the stock Overland rims which I don't care for with Rubicon takeoffs. I suspect I'll go with 285/70R17 DuraTracs, but those do look great. Also thinking about a leveling kit as I don't want to lift. Video was very informative.

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  3 роки тому

      Thanks. The Durtracs are great tires. A close friend also has a Gladiator, he did a small leveling kit in the front and has been debating on tires. He's probably going with a 295/70/17, which would be just slightly taller and wider than the 285/70 you mentioned. Just another option for you. Definitely come back and post about what you decided to go with!

      Honestly I’ve never noticed a difference. Technically the sidewalls should be thicker/stiffer so maybe they ride a little stiffer but on Jeep you really wouldn’t notice. I run them around 32 psi (cold). They are wearing evenly and I think they ride nice. And I like the additional side wall strength when towing a trailer, etc.

    Do you have any shaking on gladiator while doing highway driving?

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  Рік тому

      No shaking to speak of, though with any off-road type tire, you can get a bit more vibration than just a highway tire. But nothing that you'd notice unless you were really looking for it. The Gladiator in general is louder/rougher than my 2010 F150 Lariat was. I love my Gladiator though.

      @@ScrufsGarage thanks bud, I don't get it, almost none of the steps hide those seem holes which for me is 90% of buying them, especially since I'm going with bigger tires and possibly 1" front level kit. I like my stock wheels (loaded sport S, gator green) so I think I'm either going with BFG all terrain in 34x10.50x17. 33.5" actual or something in 295/70/17. 33.3" actual. So with no lift no spacers what’s the max tire you’d go?

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  3 роки тому +1

      It's very much a matter of personal preference on looks, and how you plan to use it. I've got a buddy who just bought a 2021 Gladiator Sport S. He and I were discussing and I think he's going to do a 3/4" spacer in the front to take out some of the rake, and then run 34" tire. I think that will look really good. Technically as you saw in the video, 35"s will fit even without a lift, but I think it looks better with a big more fender space. Also think about the impact that bigger tires have on performance and gas mileage. 35"s made a drastic change to my gas mileage. I did a video on that if you're interested. Let us know what you decide to go with!

    Do you know if 35s would work on my 2021 Jeep Gladiator SPORT ONLY MODEL? I dont have the Max tow Package or anything. I just have the basic model. i dont plan on going off road. I just want the look on big tires and wheels. Id appreciate your feedback

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  3 роки тому +2

      A stock sport would have the same suspension height and fender clearance as my Overland model. So you would have the same clearance with 35"s as shown in this video. Note that my wheels have less offset than the factory wheels, so the tires are pushed out further. Stock wheels would sit further inside the fender, but might rub at steering lock. I also suggest checking out my video on the effect 35"s had on power and gas mileage. ua-cam.com/video/G8hwocLfIMg/v-deo.html
