To be perfectly honest I'm currently working for allied universal security so far my experience has been terrible when it comes to the leadership, management, and communication issues, also they put me at active security positions which is something I truly hate, because as a non-commissioned security guard I don't feel comfortable interacting with customers solo which is why I'm more fit for a camera monitor position, but so far I've not been impressed with the bad leadership and unprofessionalism.

I work a Dillard’s on my own. Literally walk 9+ miles a day. Which like isn’t a lot at all. Just the store doesn’t want me to have anything. Which is weird since I was a supervisor with my other company with cuffs, a baton, and OC, and before that I was an MP. I get they don’t want some joe abusing the equipment, but I’m not some joe ya know?
Hope you stay on board. You can ask about other posts.. Walking is part of the job, tho. Some things to ask about are Truck gates, and visitors/front desk spots. Watch hands, and people.. get up on active shooter/use of force..
Easy: 2 days classes for me. Easy: third day orientation. Easy: day 4 you start working!!! Allied universal is good for the next step only. Not for career…..
What's wrong with having a career with AUS? I know many who are doing really good and don't even have much education. Besides that, a career in corporate security will pay you more than law enforcement and you won't be risking your life everyday.
Security work is a thankless job. I work for Mulligan Security at the Falchi Building. The site has a huge turn over rate because the "Chief Engineer" has been given full control of the guard staff. This man loves to verbally abuse the guards. I just lost two of my closest co-workers for the same reason. They just couldn't take the verbal abuse anymore. What has the guard company done to stop the abuse? They have done nothing at all. Contract security guard companies care more about the contract and not about what the guards actually going through daily. We are very short-staffed, overworked, verbally abused and weekly having check problems. I am 58 years old. It's hard for people over 50 to land a job. I am former Navy. I was a substitute teacher for 8 years in the toughest NYC public schools. I have two college degrees earned back in the 1990s but to no avail. What can I say? My life sucks big time.
My first, and maybe last security job. Overworked, underpaid, no personal life (16 hour shifts) no paid off time, no sick time, no vacation, horrible regional that eats and shits out directors like air, no supervisor training, no guidelines from branch or corporate. Made it 1 year to the day and quit. FUCK ALLIED!!
I work in a homeless shelter for allied universal but I don't like working in the shelter been doing it for about a year so iam going to ask if they can transfer me to a different place because I am not a fan of standing for 8 hours a day or 16 hours if someone calls out so I am going back to working in a office building were you can sit down watch cameras sign people in and out building it's more laid back
I worked for allied in Minnesota and the experience left a bad taste for me due to me having a fellow officer threatening great bodily harm or death and HR gave him a slap on the wrist and two promotions.
My first night job was walking 6 miles and keep in mind patrol was once every hour and i was allowed to sit down and relax. I`ll only take jobs that do 65 % walking and 35 % sit down otherwise it will be too much. One night I worked a walking post four car dealership lots and knew about four hours in 7 miles knew I am not going be able do 9 to 14 miles per night of walking. My boss gave me a green light bring my mountain bike so was good after that. One reason I don't do malls or hospitals to much walking.
It all depends on what position you're working for. I was literally a mall cop making 18 while armed security or higher end locations you can make more
Your explanations are very vague..... For anyone who's seeing this the process goes like this so it's direct to the point and not redundant. 1-going to the office for an interview. Tip: only claim that you have an open availability if you truly have an open availability don't say you have an open availability just to get the job. 2-job offer you either accept it or not 3-if you choose to accept it they will set up a date so you can start a 1 week classes (Florida). Doing this class there will be teaching you CPR, job knowledge customer service knowledge and you will also be taking various on the computer knowledge test. And in paper too. You will be also having to get you either your d license or your g license it's mandatory in the state of Florida to have those to work as a security guard. 4-after you pass the class you will be assigned a job site . Or you may be posted as a floater until you get a assigned job site for yourself. 5-during the week that you are taking those classes that will also be doing your background check and see if you don't have anything in your background that will keep you from getting the job. 6-at the job site your main concern is to observe and report which is clearly expressed in several pages of the class booklet that you receive when you're taking your one week class so as a security guard observe and report are your main jobs. 7-customer service is also a very big part of what we do depending on what type of site you work at you will have to deal with lots of customers visitors residents or contractors so customer service is necessary. 7-Allied has what it's called your ehub where you can always check your hours and you can also check where you should you can take classes in order for you to sharpen your skills as far as customer service security in itself and those are good tools whenever you go up for in an interview of a promotion those are always great things to have under your belt those classes are definitely something that they look at when they're looking to promote a new person and Ally prides itself in promoting from within. 8-having a great attitude demeanor and caring yourself and doing what is right it's something that Allied looks for if you're an individual who has those qualities apply for Allied even if it's just so you can find out your own way in Life or if it's a temporary job while you're going to school it is actually a very easy job even in the hardest sites where you have to stand out the most it is still much easier then any other job I've ever had.
Allied Universal is the most professional Security company in the World...We get properly trained to handle any situation that comes are way ...I Love working for Allied Universal ...Be Phenomenal...
My primary responsibility is to observe and report… Our job is to de-escalate not to escalate a situation … We can defend ourselves if we have no other choice… I Love my Job and the Phenomenal people I work with… Allied Family…
Allied Universal sucks! I am in Atlanta. They lost accounts at WellStar Hospital and Piedmont in Covington. They have lost a few accounts here. They have no managers on Duty. They have mostly kids they call supervisors. They have kids 1 year remove from High school. They are just awful!!
I hate being a security guard...wasted 3 years for nothing. No benefits and no respect...its not worth the bullshit you have to put up with for $20 an hour. Join the military...it may not be perfect but it's worth it. I can't wait to get in.

Really? Seems like yall are trying too hard. Im a security guard at a school so I personally work with a police officer and truancy officers all the time. Im the only guard there and yes its a lot of walking and can be boring. But ive never had to do radio lingo with the officers or principles I usually handle situations easily and quickly instead of having to make a report on it. I only do reports if the police is involved or and illegal drugs or stuff minors are not suppose to have is found/suspected. But I am gonna be moving on to AU as a Armed School Security Officer after this year.
Hey man I'm starting security unarmed soon. They put me in a really bad place with high crime rate and I'm honestly scared. Can I request a different location or do I not have a choice? Also, I am on my 90 day probation period so do you think that's a bad look for me if I dont' do these locations?
I believe you can request a different location after 90 days, you shouldn't worry about wanting to change locations because you don't feel comfortable or safe its completely okay and understandable. Your safety should always be #1 and if people don't understand that they aren't a good employer

Allied universal is a joke. Security is not worth the hassle. Most companies will force you to pay for all that nonsense. Sadly to say, all security companies are the same.
Hey just got hired here In Washington as well for a flex officer position starting at 24$ an hour but I’ve heard they don’t pay people the full hours they worked
They tamper with ur time clock. I have screen shots of my clock in and out times. When I brought it up to my account manager she suspended me, gave me a dumb excuse, HR gave me a different story. I was working at a trauma hospital during the panademic. 16hr shifts, 6days a week. I would clock in and out and when I brought up that my weekly checks where incorrect. I was being told to calculate the hrs missing. During my suspension i was able to look back at all the screenshots I had Took of my clock in and out times..not only was the pay incorrect i was getting paid less hours. I reached out to the payroll department, account manager, branch manager about my timeclock being tampered with and no response. I requested my file. By law they have 21days to send it. They didn't. My lawyer asked me to request it one more time. I did and its unbelievable how I went up the chain of commands and all i got was a text saying I was let go. Always send emails or text messages, make copies of what you sign or take pictures. They owe me money since November 2021. I always followed policy. I printed 100+ pages of the handbook when I was hired, something that is not accessible to you when they fire you. This is beyond labor commission lawsuits, and penalties they will have to pay for breaking labor laws. This is more like people facing jail time for tampering with time clocks and the branch manager having knowledge of it but ignoring it.. Most unprofessional company ever.
@@Toro78 it was awesome for a first day. I got off early and still get paid for the whole shift. I think I'll be working with a really nice crew and in a pretty clean console room

I’m going to have my interview for Allied Universal later this week for security officer. Do you know if you are allowed to carry a firearm, taser, pepper spray, baton, etc on the job? Thanks for sharing.
@@Toro78 Just talked with them, they don’t allow their guards to carry anything unless you are an armed guard for high risk positions. I was able to find another private security agency that allowed us to carry whatever we want as long we had certifications for them.
The vast majority of Allied's sites do not allow any tools. In fact, my company is picking up sites that Allied is losing due to them not being able to go hands on. My company allows for all those things (I personally carry a baton, flashlight, pepper spray/OC, and 2 pairs of handcuffs along with a protective vest under my uniform shirt) and we also have armed positions as well.
I use to work turner security but they kept cheating me on my check I quit I got fired from element security they tried to get me killed in a bad apt complex now I work for different company pays a little better but I get harrased from time to time by boss
Good thing about a guard card is that there will always be security jobs... realized it during the panademic. I love working stadiums and concerts. There fun. I recently realized when dropping off my kids in high school that even security for a school district would be good pay and much needed now a days due to no one being allowed on campus because of covid
I am in California. As for me I did roofing before security. I got my guard card went in and interviewed with zero experience. I then had orientation the next day . I started work the day after.
@@Sjonathan91 You get a temp one when you complete the class which is 4 hours long or less, then they mail you one you usually get it in a month or more
In some states, your best bet is to get some sort of certification. If not build experience. Try to get employment with a company that has a lot of security assignments and start from the bottom, like ECP/front gate security ir as a doorman.
@@Toro78did you have experience? All the listings I’ve seen on their site so far say a minimum of 6 months or 1 year of security and customer service experience is required.
Tenants NOT tendants.. Also walking around...I'd use the word patrolling. And yes customer service is #1. I don't know what a radio holder is but radios usually have a clip on it. And for a report....yes you make note of everything. That's what you are expected to do. It's called a Daily Activity Report. (DAR) sounds like this guy is complaining but retracts a bit. No helpful information given. And shouldn't use foul language when promoting the company that you are employed by.
Lmao all these questions from other people thinking this is a good job and might try it its actually fuking not I been doing security for like 5 years and I know what I'm talking about and I can give you the bad reasons of it and different company's different states but here's the thing the company does not give a damn about there employees nor care about you are just a number to them if you want work they'll give it to you work you to death just to cover there ass for filling up sites so they can get promoted but I do admit security is easy easy job and easy money but that depends on what site or areas they put you on so don't expect people in the company to care about you remember you you are just numbers to them 😉 as for me I'm quitting this job to pursue the military that's were all the benefits is at .

@@Bambino762 Now I know why so many cops and guards don't know the law if it is not the employers responsibility to teach them how to do their job.
Agreed, stepping stone. You still doing it?
What's wrong with having a career with AUS? I know many who are doing really good and don't even have much education. Besides that, a career in corporate security will pay you more than law enforcement and you won't be risking your life everyday.
Is orientation just reading bro ?
How much did you make per hour? I just got offered a position at a local mall for $17 an hour (Unarmed).
I do the guard class tomorrow
are you still working for them? update
I work in a homeless shelter for allied universal but I don't like working in the shelter been doing it for about a year so iam going to ask if they can transfer me to a different place because I am not a fan of standing for 8 hours a day or 16 hours if someone calls out so I am going back to working in a office building were you can sit down watch cameras sign people in and out building it's more laid back
Wish you the best
@@Toro78 thanks
Update ?
It’s a chill job if you in college
Exactly it's not meant to be a career
All the way facts
I worked for allied in Minnesota and the experience left a bad taste for me due to me having a fellow officer threatening great bodily harm or death and HR gave him a slap on the wrist and two promotions.
LOL u should have STRIGHTED HIS ASS OUT FROM THE START DEMANDING RESPECT OR PUNCH HIM IN HIS ADAMS APPLE LOL
Then he should have been picking his teeth off the pavement🤬. I have zero patients for that shit.....I could care less about my job
Dawg I got fired from allied and I easily made 1.5 to 2k a week and now I’m stuck making 500 for securitas don’t quit man
It all depends on what position you're working for. I was literally a mall cop making 18 while armed security or higher end locations you can make more
I make 22.50 working armed security at a factory best job ever and I get to where awesome equipment security is so awesome
oh nah lmaooo
Your explanations are very vague.....
For anyone who's seeing this the process goes like this so it's direct to the point and not redundant.
1-going to the office for an interview. Tip: only claim that you have an open availability if you truly have an open availability don't say you have an open availability just to get the job.
2-job offer you either accept it or not
3-if you choose to accept it they will set up a date so you can start a 1 week classes (Florida).

Same with Brooklyn
I hate being a security guard...wasted 3 years for nothing. No benefits and no respect...its not worth the bullshit you have to put up with for $20 an hour. Join the military...it may not be perfect but it's worth it. I can't wait to get in.

Let me help you don't work for Allied. Ever. I worked at the Boeing Everett account as an Armed Patrol Officer. This company will steal your overtime.
Punctuation is a must, and you obviously don't know how to use it.
What do u mean by steal you’re overtime I’m wondering cause I was offered a job by them for 24$ an hour as a flex officer around tacoma area
What're the requirements for the job? Have you ever worked or been exposed to a hospital environment? They recently bought out my company
In my position you basically just need to meet the basic requirements. There's no complicated thing you need
@@Toro78 ok, thanks
Thanks for the video I got a interview with Allied tomorrow
Where at mind me asking
Hey man I'm starting security unarmed soon. They put me in a really bad place with high crime rate and I'm honestly scared. Can I request a different location or do I not have a choice? Also, I am on my 90 day probation period so do you think that's a bad look for me if I dont' do these locations?
I believe you can request a different location after 90 days, you shouldn't worry about wanting to change locations because you don't feel comfortable or safe its completely okay and understandable. Your safety should always be #1 and if people don't understand that they aren't a good employer
@@Toro78 Omg. your comment is the world for me. Totally changed my view point and outlook. Thank you so much for making an impactful difference in my life and taking the time to write that.
This is gonna be an unpopular opinion but I wouldn’t worry until u have something to worry about. Typical they ain’t gonna mess with u. The beef is with the cops not security guards most likely nothing gonna happen to u
Allied universal is a joke. Security is not worth the hassle. Most companies will force you to pay for all that nonsense. Sadly to say, all security companies are the same.
Yep
Yes.
This video help me going to a hiring event for them
I worked for Allied in a NYC shelter. Worse jobs ever. I ended up quitting and became an EMT. Less of a drain.
Brilliant idea.
Hey just got hired here In Washington as well for a flex officer position starting at 24$ an hour but I’ve heard they don’t pay people the full hours they worked
That is a good pay, better than many college graduates sadly.
Sheesh I'm sorry they treated toy like that. Sounds like you did everything that was needed and still got screwed over.
@@Toro78 most definitely.

Do you have to have a car to work as a security guard? Looking for a laid back job but don’t drive at the moment

For my site it was just a saliva/swab test.

Good thing about a guard card is that there will always be security jobs... realized it during the panademic.
I love working stadiums and concerts. There fun.
I recently realized when dropping off my kids in high school that even security for a school district would be good pay and much needed now a days due to no one being allowed on campus because of covid
I’m just wondering, how do applicants do when they have no prior security experience? For instance, my only job experience is at a fast food joint.
Some security companies can help with since their is no prior experience required
