this is why i love stargate. its a serious show but it can give us these meta joke moments and still dont break canon XD it has the right amount of everything.... unlike the last two shows. universe and origin.....
These 2 shows were pretty much the nail in the coffin. It is saddening to see that the show I grew up with, just slowly died like that. But that is just how things go. Nothing stays forever and maybe that is even a good thing. New room for new ideas where the old ones are buried.
@@goofygoober779 yea i liked the concept of sgu but it felt like a daytime soap opera. every episode someone's was in love and someone or more died. for a limited crew it felt like they killed more than what should have been on board. oversights like that was just to much. lets hope the new show amazon is working on they fix sgu.
@zerodawn09 Universe was trying a little too hard to be Battlestar Gatelactica, but honestly watching it after the fact it's not like it was a bad show. just very different in tone from the other shows in the series. I think it would have gone over better if it had been running in parallel with another, more conventional SG show.

I'd also recommend checking out Raised by Wolves - the first episode (directed by Ridley Scott btw) got me hooked so far... Westworld is also good imho (it is sci-fi, not a space one though).
There's been a several years gap since SG/BSG for good SF/Spaceoperas shows indeed, but as listed above it's back ! I would add The Orville and Lost in Space. But i'm having difficulties with the new Treks..
As mentiones expanse and altered carbon are ok. But raised by wolves, the boys are typical nowdays bad shows, west world first serie was ok, but next ones were again pretty bad. Still king of worst scifi shows ever is star trek discovery.
Watching this reminded me of my scifi TGIF. I couldn’t wait for Friday’s to come sooner. I miss stargate sg1, Stargate Atlantis and I know it wasn’t everyone’s favorite but also Stargate Universe. Oh I heard about the Emmerich and Devlin reboot, but I though it was dead as I really didn't hear much about it lately. I though SG1 producers were also rebooting the series, and didn't hear anything. I just noticed next year it will be 10 years since the SG1 finale.

BSG rip off is definitely the most accurate summation of that show. I started watching it and couldn't get three episodes into the first season. I love BSG but SGU felt like it was trying to be something it wasn't.

I just finished watching Stargate SG one for the first time about a month ago now I’m on season four of Atlantis I don’t know how I didn’t watch this when it originally aired!
It's done, I enjoyed it, got tired of Atlantis, the ancients could make a ZPM that would last 10,000 years, but those morons would deplete a fully charged one in minutes in one episode, where as three powered Atlantis during it's war and up to the point SG personnel arrive?
One would assume they have some means to recharge them as they are not heavily drawn on - or there was some component on the city that isn't known about that feeds them energy they had not turned that on so they only drew - it might be simply down to miss-use too I expect.

You realize that the one that lasted 10,000 years was doing one thing and one thing only, powering the shield to keep Atlantis safe beneath the ocean. Whereas the Atlantis crew were using the ZPMs to actually power a large portion of the city for hundreds of people, use the shields, the weapons, fly the city etc. etc. etc. The Ancients themselves abandoned the city because they couldn't fight the Wraith even with their ability to MAKE and RECHARGE the ZPMs, and you're pissy because the humans don't have the same knowledge the Ancients do, and are struggling to survive with barely charged ZPMs, and then using the fully charged ones to POWER the bloody city and all it's weapons and protective features!? Instead of JUST it's shield to HIDE like the Ancients used it for those 10,000 years you're so impressed with??

I made an example, if it lasts powering shields holding back water for 10,000 years then it would go at least 100 years under the conditions of the show, it got old fast, boring!
