thank you, the fact is tempo song was created especially for exo even if another agency asked to be given a song similar to tempo, the songwriter would refuse because they made it's only for exo,and the perfect acapella of the sung tempo is the single most beautiful acapella in kpop music (boy group),next i recommend exo "MAMA" it's exo's legendary debut song

The song is called "Tempo" and the album is named Don't Mess Up My Tempo, so, the tempo keeps speeding up and slowing down. I think the change in tempo is also supposed to mirror the uncertainty and unsteadiness that EXO are feeling within the storyline in the MV.
However, if you read the lyrics, you see that the song is talking to a girl and they are telling her, "Don't mess up my tempo." And yes, part of the tempo in the song is created by the squeak of what is thought to be bed springs (LOL, not a toy). (The underlying theme of the song is a tongue and cheek reference to sexual innuendo.) However, as with everything EXO does, there are duel meanings depending on how deeply you want to interpret the song and MV. On the surface the song and MV is meant to be enjoyed by the casual watcher and listener like you would any song on the radio, but if you want to delve in deeper and explore EXO's storyline, then there is so much more going on.
As an SM Entertainment group, it shouldn't be a surprise that EXO are amazing vocalists -- hence the a capella part in the song. That is just what SM is known for. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing vocals and dance skills. That's just a fact about the type of people SM selects to become part of its company. All of SM's artists were first chosen for their visuals, vocals and/or dance skills, and even the rappers get intense training as vocalists. That is why SM is known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. And EXO is a perfect example of that.
The aesthetic of the "Tempo" MV is centered around the color red because the setting is supposed to be depicting the members under the Red Forces' control. Without going into too much detail -- there is so much going on in EXO's "Tempo" MV that it's hard to grasp it all -- what fan theories think is happening in "Tempo" is it is showing the members of EXO all trapped in separate dimensions. Each of those rooms, could possibly be a different dimension and that is why you see the glitches and why you hear Xiumin and Baekhyun with that computerized voice, because they aren't all in the same place at the same time, so their voices are being distorted as they try to connect between dimensions, etc.
They also still could be trapped in different rooms within the maze, like what we saw them in their "Overdose" MV. For several of EXO's MVs we believe they are still trapped within the maze and they are continuously trying to find their way out. The maze seems to affect their connection to their powers and it clouds their minds and dulls their senses, so not only are they fighting the Red Force and X-EXO, but they are also struggling to break free from the fog the Red Force has them in. That's why you see some of the members just lazily sitting around and kind of blankly staring off into space at times.
Baekhyun is the one that is singled out in the MV and he is the one standing above everything looking down, so this is one example of where we think that maybe he is the only one who has avoided the Red Force's control and he is observing everything that is going on from the outside.
You see Chanyeol -- main rapper -- being interrogated by Chen with the inkblot test and that is thought to be the members trying to figure out who are the real EXO members and who are the evil X-EXO members created by the Red Force -- or who are the real members and who are the clones. At this point everyone is suspicious of each other and no one can be trusted.
As you may have noticed, halfway through the MV Chanyeol's eyes and hair change color, so some think that this is either showing two different versions of Chanyeol who appear in two different time periods or dimensions, or one is Chanyeol the EXO member and one is Chanyeol the X-EXO clone. Often, when you see a character in one of SM's MVs with blue eyes or different eye colors this usually means they are not who they appear to be.
The "Chess game" is thought to be supernatural EXO chess, and I don't think it's a game they are playing, but I think maybe it's something they are using to try to decipher a clue or figure out a way out of wherever the Red Force has them trapped at the moment. It's unclear right now what that scene is really telling us, but I have a feeling things will become clearer in the future as more of EXO's storyline is unveiled in future MVs and as SM's SM Culture Universe storyline continues to evolve.
You also see Sehun -- the other main rapper -- on the motorcycle in this MV, which I now think is connected to the scene where we see him driving a motorcycle in EXO's "Lightsaber" MV and sitting on the motorcycle in their new "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV.
In the very last scene, that is Baekhyun with that cube. I am not sure what that means, but I am sure it's foreshadowing something to come in the future with EXO's storyline.
EXO's Chinese member, Lay, is in this MV, but you won't see or hear him sing or dance because you watched the Korean version, and at this time, because of the political issues between China and Korea, the Chinese government only gave him permission to appear in the Korean version of "Tempo", but he wasn't allowed to participate in the song. If you want to hear Lay sing you will have to watch the Mandarin version.
Nothing in this MV is random or done just because, even the smallest of detail has been planned out to either connect to something to do with EXO's storyline from past MVs or it will become a key part to help explain something in one of their future MVs.

More exo yay! Glad you loved this song, it's one of my fave title tracks. Tempo is so unique and does an amazing job showing off the members' voices/overall talent. As for the storyline, exo's lore is an event and every music video, solo work, teasers, literary everything contributes to their storyline, so don't be too hard on yourself for not "making sense" or being confused by everything hahaha I've been into kpop for over 15 years now and I've been following exo since their first teaser and I even get confused sometimes, so no worries, you can just enjoy the talent and appreciate the visual aesthetic of the MV c:

Literally the most iconic EXO song for me imo. Broke so many molds, and yet sounds amazing and works so well.
The one who turned back was Baekhyun, he always played the double agent - spy role in their MVs, the one who saves them in their fight with the Red Force.
In this video, they are trapped in a cube and their clones took the control (another proof, the distorted voices),you can see at one point a white ,almost transparent wall with their shadows behind it , that's the cube and Baekhyun is seen at the end walking out with it in the hand.
Actually baekhyun is re-entering the red cube, it says in the teaser!

Ahhh soo happy you did Tempo! There's nothing in world like EXO's harmonies hah. Your interpretation of lyrics was spot on once again but I remember watching your other reactiom few days ago when you mentioned concept of aliens coming to earth to protect us from evil haha that's actually EXO's concept. Like beings from exoplanets with superpowers that came to earth to protect humans from evil called Red Force. When you see something red in EXO's MVs basically you are seeing Red Force trying to steal exo powers and destroy exo themselves too in many ways. Since Tempo came before Obsession MV we didn't know about exo evil clones created by red force but watching Tempo MV i can see that yes evil clones were probably glitching (except one member called D.O. but we think it has something to do about his power which is Earth/Force). What is interesting that this MV was filmed like they are trapped in a cube and before they dropped Tempo MV there was game created by company for fans that had to put codes in and get members' teaser photos. In beggining of the game it was said "Speed loving bikers enter the fragment of frozen time as they log into the red cube. Solving given puzzle is the only route for all to escape. However, the bikers are unable to resist the temptation and reenter the cube." Well basically the9y were probably heading right into red force's trap and you can you in MV that there's people, hands in back of the white cube trying to get out. We are thinking that's real EXO being trapped. But nothing is confirmed yet lol EXO's MVs are veeryy detailed to the point I also wanna add out that both in obsession and tempo mv, when playing chess, most prominent figure was knight which moves on chess board in L shape (EXO-L lol as their fans). I don't know how many people noticed it haha anyways I won't bother you with more info it's already too much. In their Overdose MV, there was a vision of this that D.O. have seen when he was holding a cube box. The white walls with silhouettes.
Tempo is a masterpiece itself. It’s crazy that 80% of the beat was made by EXO’s vocal. If you try to listen the instrumental ver, it’s just so unique and the acapella part is totally silent. And the squeaky sound is from the bed :))
You mentioned them being like all for one and one for all in the "flexing" part, well exo's motto is "We are one"😂

I not heard a lot EXO discography but Tempo is my favorite song from EXO and Love shot.
I just want to keep pointing out and maybe reminding people that *EXO is TOP TIER artists* in every way! From their music, the production is always intelligent, unique, and just beautiful, but also so enjoyable to listen to. From the vocals, they're not called *The Vocal Kings of Kpop* for nothing, ok?! In every EXO's song, the vocal production is always *insanely BEAUTIFUL!* And the main reason is because all of them are *amazing singers* and they're proud of their talents, and producers know and acknowledge their talents, and so they always "show it off". I've been a fan of kpop for 17years, and EXO is *the only/the first* kpop group I know that is actually very focused on the singing parts of their music, on this level of goodness! (And by now, it's a usual thing when it comes to SM artists, I guess. And of course, actually before EXO, there was TVXQ from SM who was really good at vocals too as a group, but they weren't at the level of EXO, mostly bcuz they only had 5 members. But to have 9 people being amazing singers in one group, and *3 of those are some the most insanely incomparable best singers* in kpop? It's basically unheard of. And it's only EXO who will always be *that* group). And that's why, if you pay attention, EXO's songs are more melodic compare to other songs by other groups, especially the newer ones. Even with the rapping parts, EXO's is more melodic compare to other groups, too. And it's all, again, bcuz their an actual *singing group.* And again, if you pay more attention, most EXO songs are *hard* to sing. If you're a singer, you'd figure this out. Not only their notes in every song is tough to do/follow, and not only cuz it's a group song so their singing can overlap each other's so it's hard to sing, but also, their songs are always full of adlibs from *every* member. And you know when you try to sing a song, you sometimes want to follow the adlibs too? But it's almost impossible with EXO, cuz the amount of adlibs is just overwhelming, you cannot follow them all. And more than that, some of those adlibs are a bunch of *high notes* that need very good singing skill and techniques to even *try* to follow. But somehow, they always just *sound so good* and not "too much". And then, add the fact that they do harmonization like it's nobody's business. Again, if you pay attention and compare, EXO is *the group* who gives *rich harmonization* in every song of theirs. Harmonization is their meal, and they're not afraid to do it, cuz they're *really good* at it. It's just heaven in your ears. And then, even with all the greatness that they serve through their music, songs, and vocals, they give you the best performances, too! From their choreography, to their stage direction, to their stage presence, to their way of serving the mood and concept of each song flawlessly and seemingly effortlessly (since they're all great actors too). And their *videos are always top tier* in production, concept, and storyline, too! *You basically get served in every way with EXO.* They're visually pleasing and they're heaven in your ears. And again, they were the first group who started doing all of that. And if you're reminded of another group that did the same thing as one of those things that EXO does, let me tell you, they must have followed EXO's steps! EXO has been such an *inspiration* for all other (younger) groups in kpop. A lot of them actually "copied" EXO's "formulas" in different ways, even if EXO isn't "the most viral" kpop group today. Still, they're the ones who were the inspiration, the one who paved the way, and the ones who other groups look up to, even to this day. And it's also becuz *EXO is the most authentic group* I've ever seen in kpop! They don't follow trend, they create them! They don't do what's viral, they always do their own thing! They can get inspired, but they don't copy! They don't make "easy" listening music just to sell albums, they give amazing quality of products, they express themselves as artists genuinely, and they're not lazy in doing it all! They thrive in and are proud of making great things, instead of selling a huge amount of "low quality" albums just to get money. They're amazing artists, and more amazing people.
I'm so glad that more people are listening to EXO more these days, and realize that they're just simply amazing. Not knowing about and not enjoying EXO is one of the biggest lost anyone could ever have.

To say that in EXO someone is better and someone is worse is simply IMPOSSIBLE because absolutely every participant is unrealistically talented, this is literally an IDEAL GROUP. Every EXO group and solo album is on a completely different level to this day, even after 10 years of career. I am absolutely not afraid to say that EXO is a real K-POP, now there are countless groups in the fourth generation, but they absolutely do not stand out in any way, trying to focus more and more on the West and POP music, thereby becoming monotonous and disposable. EXO is the only band in the entire K-POP industry, by the way, to this day where literally every member sings amazingly, including rappers and dancers. Minute popularity does not determine the talent and legendarity of the artist, because even after 10 years of his career, EXO songs are literally sung by the whole of Asia, because EXO is the real K-POP. I will never stop admiring this amazing band, even if 40 years pass, let a billion more bands like bts be released, they will never surpass EXO because their music is timeless, this is what defines the legendary artist.

Thanks for the reaction video. Yes somehow Tempo MV has meaning connected to the EXO superpower theory. Theres no exact theory release by SM but it was base on the observations of the fans and the similarities and connections you will notice on their MVs and teaser. You will become a detective here 😊. I remember reading something about baekhyun being a spy coz he was the one who first cloned when he was cornered by red force ( call me baby teaser ). You will notice that he is also the one who releases the members in MONSTER MV ending and the one who didnt fight the RF Robot in POWER MV.

aaaaaaa I get such a happy kick out of watching you enjoy exo content, I'm a bit late to this so ppl have probably already explained to you the entire exo verse by now but I wanted to add in my own interpretation since I used to spend hours discussing concept theory with other exo-ls since exo have such an intericate story/concept and it's been set since debut. Long story short, they're from exo planet and they each have powers (their debut song MAMA lays out the presmise pretty well it's like a movie, can't wait for you to check it out) the exos were forced to come to earth because an evil red power took over and kidnapped their queen/metaphorical deity (aka MAMA in korean means Queen) and they've been fighting this /red force/ ever since! they've been overpowered by the force, manipulated, tricked, weakened they even forgot abt eachother and had mk ultra experiments done on them (Monster concept) and their whole concept aesthetic is them being stuck in different simulations/dimensions controlled by the red force except there's always hope of them finding the queen and reuniting through love/music/remembering they're One (their slogan) and also through remembering their powers (kai can teleport through these simulations his name means /to open/ and also /the key/. Here they seem to come together when in reality they're seperated. Each member is that man with the helmet experiencing that simulation, they somehow managed to break through at the end but not entirely from the red force only from that specific simulations (it's levels upon levels of traps think inception dreams levels). I won't go into anymore theorizing and I'm sure others have their own interpretation but if you've read this far, thank you and I hope you get to enjoy more exo content in the near future.

Hi! My take on EXO's MVs is that the theory are somehow linked. It's like in this MV I think they're still trapped by the Red Force(?) & they're trying to fix (I don't know what) so that they can escape. Sorry now I'm confused. Actually, you need to have background knowledge of EXO whole storyline to be able to make correlation and reference for their MV. It's because their MV is never just a single story. It's continuing with other MV, teasers, concert, VCR, even some Photoshoot. It's confusing yet mind-blowing. Hi DG Reacts! So, your concern about making any sense or not is definitely normal for someone who just started watching and discovering EXO. It’s definitely NORMAL and not a BAD thing. Understanding and analyzing EXO’s concept and all take a lot of time and a lot of IQ, I would say hahaha. But, for you to at least understand bit by bit, my advice would be for you to start from the VERY BEGINNING-what I mean by that is start watching their concept story first then dive into their debut song/mv up to the latest MVs (I hope I could say latest ones without ever thinking that EXO is on a hiatus), in short, you should watch in chronological order or base from their released dates. By doing that, it’ll be much easier for you to understand and analyze things, storylines, concepts, and all that EXO has to offer.
I hope you can continue to discover them more because people are sleeping from their talents. EXO wouldn’t be considered as a LEGENDARY group for nothing. Anyway, just enjoy your journey with EXO. Stay safe always! In the end, we are ONE. EXO! Saranghaja!

Tempo is my favorite exo song, it's so unique and interesting, the more you listen to it, the more you notice. Plus the mv is beautiful and very artistic and symbolic, which i love. I also love the choreography, ever since i watched the very famous kai fancam where all the details are easily seen and it made me love the song even more since it compliments it so well

The portal you mentioned kinda make sense,...If I am not mistaken there was a VCR shown in the exo concert where they were racing riding their individual cars and something, and then suddenly there was a portal appeared which transported them into a new place of some sort.

If you already knew about their concept, that they have alter egos or X-EXO like in obsession mv,....some exols believed that the exo members you see in tempo mv are actually not the real exo members, but the X-EXO themselves that's why they were glitching. And which makes sense, because they were being interrogated here, the exo members are suspecting each other on whoever are the real and not. I forgot the other infos, but that's some of it. And ohhh anything that is red or suspicious tha is red are most probably the exo's enemy which is the Red Force. (Red force is in the form of androids as we seen in the lucky one mv, the robot in power mv, and in tempo is the red cube (puzzle cube piece) in the background, x-exo which are the clones made by red force)
