You won't find a single EXO title track with same sound. They always come back with different sounds. You should check them more often 😁 also you can check the LIVE version of TEMPO to get an idea of their real vocals it's better than the studio version 😁
EXO can pull off every genre of music; thus, they're the fave of most music professionals in SoKor and a lot of Kpop agencies want their groups to sound like EXO too. A lot of them tried but no one really does it like the Vocal Kings of Kpop. Most EXO songs are experimental and non typical Kpop music. They do not follow trends, they set the trend...and they set the bar so high. i suggest, Forever, Going Crazy, Obsession, and their debut song MAMA.

Their b-side songs are even better than their titled tracks. A producer for this song is Marz (Paul Thompson). In kpop, music producers play an important role and are very well known among kpop fans. Some of the main producers for EXO are Kenzie, LDN Noise, Andreas Oberg, among others. EXO, Shinee, and NCT tend to have very experimental music and their producers tend to have several different genres within songs. I recommend Groove by EXO, it has a bossa nova vibe to it.

You gotta know, EXO is *the most versatile group in kpop* that I know, and since *all the members are amazing singers* (hence "The Vocal Kings of Kpop" title) other than being talented in other things, they can tackle any genres, and do it beautifully, flawlessly, and seemingly effortless. Their vocal productions in every EXO's songs are *top tier* along with the music production. Honestly, no one can do it like EXO! Whether it's releasing songs with the best quality, or dancing all those amazing choreos, or giving the best concepts and styles, or putting out amazing artistic visuals, or performing live with the best stage and the best live vocals, EXO is *the group* where you'll get all of those at once!

The song is called "Tempo" and the album is named Don't Mess Up My Tempo, so, the tempo keeps speeding up and slowing down. I think the change in tempo is also supposed to mirror the uncertainty and unsteadiness that EXO are feeling within the storyline in the MV.
However, if you read the lyrics, you see that the song is talking to a girl and they are telling her, "Don't mess up my tempo." And yes, part of the tempo in the song is created by the squeak of what is thought to be bed springs. However, as with everything EXO does, there are duel meanings depending on how deeply you want to interpret the song and MV. On the surface the song and MV is meant to be enjoyed by the casual watcher and listener like you would any song on the radio, but if you want to delve in deeper and explore EXO's storyline, then there is so much more going on.
As an SM Entertainment group, it shouldn't be a surprise that EXO are amazing vocalists -- hence the acapella part in the song. That is just what SM is known for. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing vocals and dance skills. That's just a fact about the type of people SM selects to become part of its company. All of SM's artists were first chosen for their visuals, vocals and/or dance skills, and even the rappers get intense training as vocalists. That is why SM is known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. And EXO is a perfect example of that.
As you are starting to discover, everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything, is connected in some way to their concept and storyline. EXO's MVs are kind of like a movie -- it's a movie that has been going on for the past 10 years -- since predebut -- and it has no sign of coming to an end any time soon. The one thing you have to keep in mind with all of EXO's MVs, and I really mean all of them -- including their sub-sub-unit MVs and a majority of the member's solo MVs. And because Baekhyun and Kai are involved, even SuperM's storyline -- is that they are all connected and they all tell a little more of EXO's story.
To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and it's how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept. So to really understand EXO, if you haven't already, you need to start from the very beginning and watch both of their "Mama" MVs -- EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese). From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers.
Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary. The group's concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. SM Entertainment has all of EXO's release dates and concepts planned out for years in advance, and it is all designed to be another chapter in EXO's story.
The aesthetic of the "Tempo" MV is centered around the color red because the setting is supposed to be depicting the members under the Red Forces' control. Without going into too much detail -- there is so much going on in EXO's "Tempo" MV that it's hard to grasp it all -- what fan theories think is happening in "Tempo" is it is showing the members of EXO all trapped in separate dimensions. Each of those rooms, could possibly be a different dimension and that is why you see the glitches and why you hear Xiumin and Baekhyun with that computerized voice, because they aren't all in the same place at the same time, so their voices are being distorted as they try to connect between dimensions, etc.
They also still could be trapped in different rooms within the maze, like what we saw them in their "Overdose" MV. For several of EXO's MVs we believe they are still trapped within the maze and they are continuously trying to find their way out. The maze seems to affect their connection to their powers and it clouds their minds and dulls their senses, so not only are they fighting the Red Force and X-EXO, but they are also struggling to break free from the fog the Red Force has them in. That's why you see some of the members just lazily sitting around and kind of blankly staring off into space at times.
Baekhyun is the one that is singled out in the MV and he is the one standing above everything looking down, so this is one example of where we think that maybe he is the only one who has avoided the Red Force's control and he is observing everything that is going on from the outside.
You see Chanyeol -- main rapper -- being interrogated by Chen with the inkblot test and that is thought to be the members trying to figure out who are the real EXO members and who are the evil X-EXO members created by the Red Force -- or who are the real members and who are the clones. At this point everyone is suspicious of each other and no one can be trusted.
As you may have noticed, halfway through the MV Chanyeol's eyes and hair change color, so some think that this is either showing two different versions of Chanyeol who appear in two different time periods or dimensions, or one is Chanyeol the EXO member and one is Chanyeol the X-EXO clone. Often, when you see a character in one of SM's MVs with blue eyes or different eye colors this usually means they are not who they appear to be.
The "Chess game" is thought to be supernatural EXO chess, and I don't think it's a game they are playing, but I think maybe it's something they are using to try to decipher a clue or figure out a way out of wherever the Red Force has them trapped at the moment. It's unclear right now what that scene is really telling us, but I have a feeling things will become clearer in the future as more of EXO's storyline is unveiled in future MVs and as SM's SM Culture Universe storyline continues to evolve.
You also see Sehun -- main rapper -- on the motorcycle in this MV, which I now think is connected to the scene where we see him driving a motorcycle in EXO's "Lightsaber" MV and sitting on the motorcycle in their new "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV.
In the very last scene, that is Baekhyun with that cube. I am not sure what that means, but I am sure it's foreshadowing something to come in the future with EXO's storyline.
EXO's Chinese member, Lay, is in this MV, but you won't see or hear him sing or dance because you watched the Korean version, and at this time, because of the political issues between China and Korea, the Chinese government only gave him permission to appear in the Korean version of "Tempo", but he wasn't allowed to participate in the song. If you want to hear Lay sing you will have to watch the Mandarin version.
Nothing in this MV is random or done just because, even the smallest of detail has been planned out to either connect to something to do with EXO's storyline from past MVs or it will become a key part to help explain something in one of their future MVs.

Also, EXO is pronounced as one word since it comes from the word exoplanet - a planet outside our solar system, the guys do sometimes have E-X-O in the lyrics of the songs though :P
They are a 9 member group, but you'll see a different amount of members and there are many reasons for that. I'm mentioning this in case you'll be confused in the future.
Each member has a distinct voice which is probably what I love the most about the group :P and each one of them does something different for their solo releases too

I totally agree with your comments! They are so different than anyone I’ve heard before. Their vocals & variations of melodies are exquisite!
They are also one of the very few artists whom I prefer to listen to live vs a studio recording (even with outstanding post-production).
They are AMAZING live performers! I highly recommend check out their live performances.

Adrian Mckinnon composed this song and I have to say he is one of my favorite composers. If you like the 'back and forth' like two sounds combined I would recommend One (Monster and Infinity) by SuperM. It's not EXO but the group has a couple of EXO members in it and I would be curious to see how you like the actual combination of two songs into one.
