Even though I've been using After Effects professionally for 12 years I still got some dope ideas from this video about using combinations of effects that I hadn't thought of. Cool! ...and thanks!
As an AE noob I reeeeeeally appreciate you putting the time into give us a run down of what it can do. Gives me multiple places to explore, experiment and - as you say - have fun! Cheers 👍
I appreciate you taking the time to leave such a sweet comment! Man, the support and positive vibes are always welcome 😁! Looking forward to what you end up making, feel free to tag me so i can check it out
Whenever I use curves I think of Andrew Kramer. Originally, he said, “I knew a guy who didn’t like curves, he liked levels, and now he’s dead!” That was hilarious.
Steve Thompson Levels = Color Correction Curves = Color Grading Levels are needed for more technical adjustments like correcting and curves for bigger stylistic adjustments.
I've just moved from basic video editing to VFX, this is the second video i have watched on my first steps to VFX! This has not only highlighted FX i should be aware of but also gave me insight as to what is possible on Ae. Thank you man! I am subbed and look forward to seeing what you can teach me.
Halfway through this video and even though I'm familiar with most of these effects, it's a great refresher to get my mind in the right creative space. Really well put together video and dope effects! Thanks man! I'll check out your other videos!
LEVELS vs. CURVES! Levels gives you the mathematical numbers of your color adjustments. If you look at the "info" when you move your mouse cursor over any part of the preview window, it gives the mathematical number of each color/pixel. When compositing this is the ONLY way to match colors and luminance levels with 100% accuracy. You can also use those settings to reproduce exactly in any other program. Curves is more about the artists interpretation and feeling. Its AWESOME, but it's like the visual version of mixing sound without looking at the waveforms and scopes. It's based on feeling rather that accuracy. Also, if you've ever tried to adjust color settings over time with keyframes on curves, you'll know how jacked up that gets real quick... Levels is math based, so it adjusts with keyframes without any popping or skipping in light or color values like curves does. Just a few helpful distinctions between the two!
Ive been a 3d designer for the past 6 years and just now im starting to dive deep into de AF world, this list is useful AF (as fuck, not after effects) thanks man
I am a 3D Guy myself. Trust me, making the Postproduktion of your 3D Scenes in AE is a real gamechanger. Have a look into a buy Plugin called: Frischluft. Its an easy to use depth o field tool witch safes you ages of rendertime (z depth pass).
Thanks Mike! Glad you enjoyed the video and hope you know that your comment made my day! Looking forward to sharing more dope effects and tuts with you!
Great list... After Effects is a monster program with so many bells and whistles, so narrowing down a list is not easy, but you did a good job. Great channel BTW, you have a new sub.
This is the best AE learning video I have ever seen. I've been using AE for years and have been too scared to click on half of these effects. Thanks so much for your quick and simple explanation of each.
Just started my after effects journey and found your vids. Thanks. I tried video copilot, but all the vids are out of date and i couldnt follow along so now i am here. Hopefully to stay, thanks
Glad these vids help Joshua! I started on Video Copilot but definitely found those vids to be out of date by now. Happy to make relevant tutorials for ya 👌🏾
@Black Mixture maybe i missed it, but do you have any videos on what build of pc you are using? I am a disabled vet on a fixed budget. And have been using my MSI GF-75 laptop for all my work. It has an i7, and the GTX 1050. But it seems so slow, when using blender or after effects. I have watched a ton of videos on pc builds but i am just curious what you started with and where ypu are at now. Once again, thank you for your great videos.
