  • @skipmiller8309
    @skipmiller8309 10 днів тому

    To be fair, the wheel speed is no fault of the motor and has everything to do with the number of turns. The more turns equals less RPM's. Naturally the Injora is going to have more wheel speed because of less turns. It would have been nice to see two equal motors with the same turns go head to head. Both motors are getting great reviews. The Injora 55T is doing great as well.

      Thanks mate! Listed as non waterproof on Injoras website however brushed motors typically don't have any issues running submerged in water! There is the little capacitor board on the back of the motor that may be subject to corrosion but a squirt of corrosion x would take care of that. I've not seen a water sealed brushed motor yet, they all let water inside! You need to dry them out and lube the bushings after a good puddle run!

    Do you think overdrive in the front and stock in the rear would help the climb?

    • @havikhobbies
      @havikhobbies  Рік тому

      Yes, you wouldn't loose wheel speed in the rear but rather gain it in the front at the expense of low speed control. It's all a big trade off! And what works best for you depends on how you drive your rig and what you need it to do. I'm more into crawling rather than trailing so I focus my build around slow speed control. Thanks for hanging out!

    Is it real that the Injora Motor kills the stock ESC? My Defender still runs on the Titan 180 with Low Speed Gearing from Traxxas, it crawles very good so far. Greetings from Germany

    • @havikhobbies
      @havikhobbies  7 місяців тому +1

      I've never experienced any issues with the Injora Pro 48t with the stock Traxxas ESC, but like you I only run on the low or crawler gears. I suspect that users that have experienced issues are probably running stock or high speed gearing! I don't tend to push the truck very hard in a bind either which can be very hard on electronics as well. Thanks for watching mate!

    • @havikhobbies
      @havikhobbies  7 місяців тому

      I've never fully submerged my Injora 180 motor, but I don't hesitate to run it in wet conditions like a rain, snow, mud etc. I interpret the IPX6 rating as "highly water resistant" but not fully water proof. I hope that helps? Sorry I couldn't be more definitive.

    How do these motors compare in speed to stock motor and stock gearing? Or even the stock motor with low range gears?

    • @havikhobbies
      @havikhobbies  Рік тому +1

      It's been awhile since I've bothered with the stock gearing because I don't do any trailing. Both of these motors are faster than the stock 87t and have more torque regardless of the gearing. My opinion is these faster motors work best with the low range gears. For crawling I would choose the low gears and probably the Injora Pro. For trailing I would probably go with the low gears also, but opt for the MoFo Big Block! Although I wouldn't trail a Trx4m and would grab my FMS FCX24 due to the 2 speed transmission, but that's another story!

    • @jakedavid8187
      @jakedavid8187 Рік тому +1

    • @havikhobbies
      @havikhobbies  Рік тому +1

      The net effects will be the same as a more pronounced overdrive of the front axle. If it's a negative or positive will depend on what you want out of the truck! I personally prefer a more subtle overdrive effect for general driving. You may prefer more depending on your terrain.

      @grandmasteraj855 Рік тому

      I think they make a 9% od ring gear

    • @havikhobbies
      @havikhobbies  Рік тому +1

      Yes they have the 9% and 16% overdrive. The 16% is not very aggressive IMO. Yes leaving the rear axle ratio stock and overdrive in the front will net the same pulling from the front characteristics, however your essentially gearing UP instead of down so it will affect your slow speed control. You need to decide what is more important to you, speed or control! It's more challenging to have your cake and eat it too with brushed motors!

Both of these motors are faster than stock and really need the low gears if you intend to spend a lot of time at slow speed. The FMS -FCX24 has a similar problem when you install a lower turn motor, but it is the included battery that causes it to cut out. The lipo battery has a current limiter aka PCM inside the battery pack, replaced the battery with one that did not have PCM & fixed the problem.
