    Good video!
I have a 2016 Equinox LTZ 2WD with the same 2.4L. It has 155,000 and doesn't burn oil. I live in Florida so the PVC valve and line condensation never freezes. These engines are problematic. You really need to keep up on your oil changes every 3-5,000 miles. Remove both VVT solenoids every third oil change also and check the inlet screens are clean of sludge. I am very happy with my Equinox and as a shade tree mech it's easy to work on. This car kicked my ass one time. The car started and stalled after 2-5 seconds. No check engine light and no codes. I replaced the fuel pump and both variable valve advance solenoids and it still stalled at start. I disconnected my MAF sensor forward of throttle body and it ran and set the check engine light and code for sensor since it was disconnected. I pass that on so it doesn't kick you ass. God Bless take care

Thank you for posting. I found the hardest job I had to do was replacing the AC actuator that requires you to remove the dashboard to replace. I was able to get it installed without removing the dashboard. My daughter with her small hands was able to access the three screws. Note this took us like over six hours. We didn’t do it in one day. But I was able to save over $1080. Just in labor. There was no way I was going to video it because of the language I used when my daughter wasn’t around. It would have taken a lot of audit

      Those actuators are painful!

Do you have to replace the AC actuator to do the transmission fluid? Have a 2013 Terrain with 100k miles thinking of doing the transmission oil if its easy.

No the actuators are under the dash. The trans job is all under the hood.

@@joescola7498 Oh so it has nothing to do with this video or the transmission fill?

  • @Physics072
    @Physics072 2 місяці тому +2

You should probably do it in this order
    1. Remove drain plug
    2. Remove side level plug (will let air in and drain faster)
    3. Put bottom drain plug back in
    4. Fill from top with funnel till oil comes out the side plug.
    5. Start car shift gears a few times. Add fluid if need, excess will just flow out the side level hole
    6. Put side level bolt back in
    7. Put fill cap back on. DONE Drive it away.

Great video! Always looking for ways to keep my terrain from self-destructing, as it was built to do lol. In theory, changing the fluid more routinely, after a few oil changes, may keep the filter in better prolonged condition by chance, and the service looks easy enough.

Great Video! My son bought a used 2010 and it now has a 100,000 miles on it. Not sure why they have filters internally when you can't get to them. Why not place an external filter, like an engine oil filter to replace during every flush to make it simpler. I know we can't fix stupid in the engineering design, but the manufacturers have their reasons to keep their production line going. I keep my vehicles too! Just sold my 1999 Chevy Suburban in 2023 for some extra spending money. 289,000 miles and the engine still ran like new and the trans was rebuilt in 2003 due to the limp mode activating. The guy who rebuilt the trans, took the limp mode out and I never had issues with it all the way to 2023. Flushing and changing all fluid regularly and doing preventive maintenance will save you thousands of dollars in the long run. ✌😁

You can easily install an inline filter to extend life. It has a standard pleated filter as well as a magnet to trap ferrous metals.

Great video especially on the newer transmissions. I am use to the old pans and filters, now a days I take it in to someone I trust and have it done.
    Thanks,

    Correction:
The Terrain is the sister car to the Equinox. Also lots of these engines fail due to the extended oil drain intervals and the piston rings fail. The engine burns oil and the timing chains stretch and the valves hit the pistons.
Thanks for the info on the procedure to drain and fill the transmission.

I hate when they don't put dipsticks on the transmission. So, the bolt at 8:45 is the level you want the fluid at?

That is correct, I really don't mind when there is a fill level plug, some don't even have that and then it's a put in what drained out situation and that I don't like. Thanks for watching

Thay all had lots of miles on them my boss had the two rebuilt. The two i put a new seals in and two i had the transmissions rebuilt an one i put a used transmission in it.
