  • Polonnaruwa, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is rich in well-preserved archaeological treasures. Polonnaruwa served as Sri Lanka's second capital following the fall of Anuradhapura in 993. The site encompasses not only the Brahmanic structures constructed by the Cholas, but also the awe-inspiring remnants of the magnificent garden-city designed by Parakramabahu I during the 12th century.
