You should never put the screw in the valley of the corrugated iron, it’s more likely to create a leak in your roof. Only install your screws on the high ridge of the iron.
@@dimitrisl9085 he probably won’t untill the screws wear out🚫, it’s more likely bc the water travels down the valley. Not really that much worse though unless the roof will be holding water. Their pitches seem like it won’t be that much of a difference if any.
Moss is a Forest sponge - good Choice, especially in the Pacific North West! Looks very cool on the roof when it's finished too 🙂 Excellent job on the tutorial...it's like you used to be a teacher.
Dude you would have been the best teacher teacher to get in school for sure! Keep the tutorials coming man, so well explained & you keep it light..Wish your channel existed when I built an off-grid cabin near Whistler 4 years ago..pretty crazy actually I just finished your 'Art of Visuals' podcast & your cabin building start up summarizations sounded like such a similar journey..Anyways I've been working on a travelling action sports/design studio School Bus Conversion..Last year we hit 5 states & raised money for conservation while skiing, surfing, filming etc.....Maybe this year when we roll through the PNW our team of stand up lads can help ya prop a wall up or hit up a surf! Cheers homie! Keep it rad -Eric Beckstead
My favorite thing is your drama and dramatic pauses, ("it's just resting" pause...) special effects (green tinge on ur face & the hexagon effect in another video) and humor (wind & rain simulation, etc...). It reminds me of Neil Patrick Harris' delivery ... Pretty sure I'll never employ the practical knowledge you share but I enjoy these videos regardless. Altho I do love geometry , esp sacred geometry. Your groovy doors and the constellation woodwork at desert cabinland are amazing.
You guys are the literal best. I’m just blown away at what funny, amazing people you both are! Seriously, I feel lucky to be watching this so early, give it time...y’all are gunna BLOW up. (Not literally, obviously.)
Hey thank you so much for this video! We live in Germany trying to build up a similar project like you did with cabinland but of course here everything is much more complicated with all the building regulations and stuff. Nobody shows you how to build a mossy roof with chicken wire here but now we know and we'll giv it a try ;-)
Beautiful but only one important question...doesn't this moss when it collects water, put a lot of weight on the roof rafters? Could that be a problem? I wanted to do this to my roof. Please answer. Thank you.
Mike Holmes says that the vapor barrier goes on the warm side of the insulation.... so, like, under the roof insulation. Moss roofing - very interesting!
How have the roofing screws that you used on the chicken wire held up to rain? I'm nervous about how well the gaskets hold when they are on the wire and not the flat surface of the metal roof.
Zinc strips on asphalt or cedar shake roofs will keep moss or leichens from growing (it kills it) so how does your zinc plated sheetmetal roof not kill the moss?
Question: I've always always wanted a moss roof on my house. If I wanted to add one on a preexisting house, should I remove prexisting shingles or should it be safe to add a metal-wire-moss top layer?
I had to wait until 6:30 before he explained why he was putting moss on the roof. That should have been in the first 1 minute. Guys have to remember that nobody understands why you're doing something until you tell them or its a common occurrence. Putting moss on a cabin roof isn't a common occurrence.
well the moss isnt put in for the purpose of protecting the roof its there for the look because they build woodland cabins. it just also happens to protect the metal. most of the people on this video are viewers of their channel and are watching because they already want to moss their roof.
I know nothing about building anything so I'm curious why you say he's and idiot and it's a scam? Not asking sarcastically but honestly would like to know

Nicholas Tan we’ve heard... an interesting topic!
@@Cabinland did you ever have any water issues ?
@@dimitrisl9085 moss is kinda waterproof to a point

Any tradesman who screwed custom orb of like you did in the valley, isn’t a tradesman. Even over screwing on the ridge can leak.
I think it helps that you're a teacher. I feel like I'm in school, but with the fun teacher. Love these videos!
I’m at a moss for words .. great job
Excellent. We’re gonna need to use that one
Cabinland it’s your to do with what you pls .. 😃
Putting the chicken wire under the screw gasget leaves a small opening for water to leak. Another sealer should be used in conjunction of the gasget.
freaking wicked stuff dude, love how enthusiastically you explain this. I'm now totally inspired to make mossy houses!
I’ve never been so excited for a UA-cam notification 🤩😍 BEAUTIFUL!!! You two are killing it, thank you for sharing!!
Emily we’re so happy to hear you say that and to know you’re out there caring!

I will adhere to your instructions. You're the Moss.
I’ve always loved moss and now you’ve shown me I can love it so moss more! Fern Babies Forever! 💞
I didn't even notice that 9 minutes passed while watching that! So fun.
Lookin good man! Wish we had those deep dark woods, but KY is mostly just snakes. Can you do a snake roof?
Nherdvous Medusa Cabin
You make learning fun.
I try!
Hahaha this made me laugh so hard, awesome self explaining personality. Can’t wait for the next thing you think you know, and actually prove to know.
ANAK Creates I think I know how to do things a lot... shouldn’t have to wait too long 😂

LOVE THIS‼️‼️ I will be doing this on my Micro Tinyhouse ‼️❕

Thanks man ! Looking forward for more !
Another Great Video and nice lesson!
It seems like water would slowly find its way under those screws. Interesting

❤️'d this video...I have moss from the pennsylrainia grand canyon growing on my kitchen window sill 😊

Your mossy cabins look so dope
the wind and rain simulation alone was worth a sub
Excellent video
Love this. Thank You
I came straight here to say you need to put your screws in the hills of the corrugated, not the valleys. Unless you want a leaky roof

Nice tutorial! These mossy roofs are stunning.
amazing!
I miss you guys come BAAACCCKKKKK 😞
Hahahaha I love these so much
If someone did this with deer fence since it’s cheaper-do you think it’d work?
Hexagons are the bestagons
Lovin’ the channel... wish I had a sweet a** cabin like yours lol... keep up the awesome work! Btw where is sara? She should be in all ur videos... 😁
Anyone have thoughts on doing this on a dome??
genius!!
wanna know what kind of moss is that?
and is it strong on cold weather?
i wanna use it for my cabin . what a good idea.
Omg 😆 you are hilarious lol I love y’all
Is a moss roof good on a brick tiled roof if it's naturally growing on it or will it damage the tiles??
I heart cabin 💖
How does the moss roof do under 2' of snow conditions though on a pitched roof
Would snow build up and freeze overnight then pull the moss off when it falls down with weight?
How well does the moss work at shedding snow?
Awesome video! Enjoying you charisma and energy! (But where’s Sara?)
I’m here!
the best
Would silicone over the screws help theyre shelf life and leaking
That sense of humor you're so funny and brilliant! Sarah is so lucky and you're lucky having Sarah too. Fave couple 😍 so hot
Aw, Thank you!
you should write a book cabins for dummies
Would this work in snowy areas?
How would this work in hotter places? Once dried it's still ok?
@cabinland please, please respond on this one, and maybe what about direct sun on the roof? Thank you very much
Does it get super heavy when its wet?
So 😎 cool
7:17 It's just resting on it.

Qvc but moss
Regular chicken wire rusts. Expensive chicken wire or hardware cloth is galvanized. Just saying it will fall off your roof in a few years.
I’m sure this dude sold me molly in the 90’s and then talked me into a no-homo hand massage
