7 MUST TRY FOODS IN İSTANBUL, TURKEY! | What to eat in Istanbul? INSANE Turkish street food Tour 2021
Another bomb video! Everyone check out their Patreon so we can see more feasts like these!
Thank you so much Zachary!! ☺️🙌 This video was definitely a budget stretcher but we had a few nights of instant noodles after to compensate 😀 hope you guys are well! ☺️❤️
Definitely bro
you shouldnt eat that much midye (mussle) because it contains lots of heavy metals
Turkish food is the best! Do you have plans to explore the Asian side? Food is a lot more affordable in Kadikoy.
We have actually left Istanbul now and our off to explore even more of Turkey 😍☺️
Without a shadow of a doubt that Turkish food is the BEST in the world. It so scrumptious, It allures your senses in every bite. The portions are plentiful and it makes you feel full.
In france and switzerland, they offer you two bites and they call it a meal. And their food is lousy ....
I from in Turkey. Thank you nice video 🇹🇷♥️
Thanks so much for watching! 😍x
welcome to my country. Thank you for your nice opinion on Turkey. We would like to see more people like you in our country.
Thank you so much Ozkan, really appreciate that! 🙏❤️🇹🇷
Good lord. Everything looks incredible. Any regional breads and bakeries are always my first stop. 🥖🥐🍞 Simit is one of my favorite breads. Good thing we walk a lot as travelers. 😉 Manti looks fantastic too. Wonder if there are meat substitutes. Perhaps potato, for vegetarians or vegans? Baklava has got to be a top 5 pastry in the world. Done well, it’s a memory, not just a food. Side note, Turkey is the third largest producer of pistachios in the world. Explains the use in many foods. The “God I miss Mexico” comment did me in. 😂 I feel that. Fantastic job as usual, y’all.
Thank you so much Brian, over the moon you enjoyed it! ☺️
Us too! 🍞There were actually Spinach Manti 😋
It is so strange re Pistachios becuase, we are used to them being quite pricey but yeah they are on everything here (which is AMAZING ☺️)!
Hahaha, we filmed that part about 5 times becuase we kept laughing 😅🇲🇽
I loved this ! The food look amazing and so filling , I also loved the streets and the architecture! Just gorgeous! And I so enjoy your interaction , you always make me smile ❤️ thank you 😊
Great video! I love seeing the foods you eat on your travels! Trying local food is the best part of travelling in my opinion 😄
Thank you so much Emma! We TOTALLY agree! 😋😋😋
Just an FYI, the "flour", or Sahlep is made of a special Orchid only found in Turkey. To prevent extinction there is a ban on export of Sahlep. You should have also tried the hot Sahlep drink, perfect for chilly weather.
Also the "Burnt Milk Pudding" you ate (17:00) is called Tavuk Gogusu which literally translates to Chicken Breast. Boiled chicken breast is added in to the pudding to give it a fibery texture.
Really interesting, we didn't know it was only grown in Turkey! Thanks 🤗
Uzbekistan = Turkey :) We are the same peoples. All Turkic from Central Asia.
Very true ☺️ we LOVE Uzbek cuisine too, can't wait to visit and try more 😍😍😍
@@MattandJulia Hope your channel picks up more and more. All the best guys.

We definitely will 🤗
love this video guys!!! Turkish food hmmmmmmmm
Thank you so much @Fromtheheart videos really appreciate it! 🙏❤️
Your video is great, guys! The recommendations are good but next time you get there don't forget to also try beyran and katmer. Both are absolutely incredible!
Thank you so much Vlad, we will definitely check them out! 😃
Julia’s looks after she tastes the food are so good to watch, haha. Thanks for the video looked great!
Hahaha, expression is key 😀
Everything looks so delicious. I would feel the same way about the ice cream vendor awkward.
Thank you Pat! 😊 For sure, I thought it wouldn't be as awkward as I imagined, but it definitely was 😅
Actually those tricks etc isn't something touristic at all as i was only five years old when i first met one of those guys. He played with me so long i was yelling and screaming anymore and he wasn't still giving me my ice cream while laughing like a lunatic!! I guess he liked the scene of a little boy yelling at him but ofc it was very annoying for me so i started walking away while saying i didn't want it anymore. Then he instantly ran after me and gave my ice cream while apologizing, lol. I learned an important lesson that day😁😁
@@MattandJulia Thats a traditional thing for those icecream vendors from that city (Kahraman Maras), only that type of icecream allows them to do those tricks, its bonding very strong and doesnt melt fast, even in the city they have a kind of a festival for that icecream and they performing how strong it is by towing trucks with ice cream rope (Very thick ofc ) or trying to cut icecreams by cleaver or axes.
Your vids are great guys.. I just enjoy them while sitting doing nothing haha. Btw the thing that you called as syrup is sherbet which is made by sugar and water😊
Thank you so much Elif! So glad you enjoy them! 😍❤
My favorite part is in the outtakes, when Julia turns it around on the ice cream guy and waves around the money so he can't get it🤣
Wow, great video. I live in Turkey and I think you really choose the right dishes. Turkey's kitchen is very large and really only 1% of this food :)
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it, the cuisine is incredible! 😀 What else would you recommend? 😊x
@@MattandJulia They are a lot, but among the most popular flavors, I Recommend the following. My top 10 list is here; 1- Lahmacun 2- İskender Döner 3- Yaprak Sarması 4- Pide (Minced Meat - Cheese - Or Spinach) 5- Hünkâr Beğendi 6- Adana Kebap 7- Cağ kebap 8- Kuru fasulye 9- Çiğ köfte 10- Turkish delight.
Thank you soooo much for your recommendations!! We've bookmarked this for our next food video 🤗☺️
@@MattandJulia Great, I'll be looking forward to it.
@@MattandJulia You guys can try "Bomba" too, means bomb. Its filled with chocolate with a very thin dough. Its from İzmir but i think you can find in pastries! ( turkishstylecooking.com/nutella-bomb-recipe.html )
My beautiful city, thank you for this amazing video, I need to do like yours video in my city =)
Thank you very much 😊
Travel to rize-çayeli is so beautiful and food too , the signedness
We really want to get to that north eastern part of Turkey, all depends on funds😊 x
And now I've caught up! Really enjoying the series guys. Keep it up.
Thank you so much Maelwys! So glad you enjoyed them all ☺️ we will 🤗💪x
Delicious food with good presentation
It was all really nice 😊x
Very nice video, subbed!
Thanks so much, welcome to the channel! 😊
🙋🏼♀️ Video çok güzel ❤️
Yum to all !!!!!!!
I really enjoy the different food vlogs. So glad to see you had tea to drink with the baklava. ( ❤️baklava) normally I have water with meals and snacks. I wasn’t sure what you drink or what other countries serve for beverages with meals.
I think it depends on a person really, what they prefer to have. In Turkey we noticed that people drink a lot of coffee 😊I prefer to have water too, tea if it's something sweet and I don't know why...but I like to drink coke when I'm having a burger, that's the only time I fancy it 😀
Istanbul is a wonderful city...
Mouth watering food apart from super market deserts the rest looked something I would thoroughly enjoy yum
Haha, the supermarket deserts were good too 😉 it was awesome food 🥰
In the end of last amazing fun ice cream 😅
Amazing 👍👍👍
Thank you very much Huseyin! 😀
Ouh dear foodies i loved vlog tooooooooo muchhhh 😍😍😍
Thank you so much Muhammad! Really appreciate it ☺️🙏
I would love to see these again but after Ramadan guys
😍😍😍😍👍👍👍👍
Baklava is amazing, my local Turkish restaurant makes their own…the choc & pistachio ones are my favourites
Great Turkish coffee. Breakfast is varied. Bon appetite . Good evening❣〰
Thank you very much! ☺️
woow what a cute couple. you are amazing guys
Thank you so much! We really appreciate it! ☺️🙌🏼♥️
You should also try ESNAF LOKANTALARI. (Restaurants where Tradesman / Small Shop Owner eat )
Oooh, sounds really interesting! We will check it out! ☺️ Thanks! 🙌🏼
@@MattandJulia I recommend Kanaat Lokantasi in Üsküdar - the Asian side. You can never go wrong with it, it’s been there for a hundred years!
Mantiiii the best
We are definitely in agreement 😀
Good to see you have enjoyed... A small correction though, they do not put FLOUR in ice cream, a type of FLOWER, from orchids named salep... :)
Thank you very much :)
The last dessert kazandibi is soooo yummy 🥰
It was awesome! So different to anything we have tried before 😍
@@MattandJulia the melted cheese, syrup.and crunch 👌😋
The Turkish taco is more of a burrito. Looks good
YUUUUUUUUMMMMM!!!!
😉😋❤️
I love watching your culinary adventures! I was wondering if either of you have any food allergies?
Turkey and Chilli 😁👍👍👍
Woooow so good good
Thank you so much Selim ❤️
Nice vlog, you managed to describe the taste of different treats very well and your selection is quite good. But I wonder why you seem to focus on just only one area of Istanbul? The city has so much more to offer in different neighborhoods, such as seafood along the shores of Bosphorus. Your list of recommendations might change if you give it a try. Enjoy your time in Istanbul!
Thank you very much Ahmet! Unfortunately we were tight on time and money but we will definitely explore more when we return 😊❤️
You should come visit North Sinai. Lot's of food and sea life there
Thank you so much for your recommendation, we would love to 😊
Bon Appetit
!
teşekkür ederim 😊
Salep or sahlep added to ice cream is a thickening agent made from the tubers of orchid. I'm not sure if you tried the chicken breast-pudding. Unless you know ahead of time you'll never guess they add chicken breast strands to thicken it.
oh yeah we did try the chicken breast pudding, loved it :) and we absolutely adore Salep! 🤗
@@MattandJulia In the winter they add salep to hot milk and it's sold as a hot beverage.
I'm turk but this foods is so gooooooooooood. Respect from Turkey for Turkey and you (bruh)
Thank you so much mate! ❤️
Excellent video guys!!!! I laughed so much when you said "ohhhh another fool I have to entertain🥴" hahahaha it was funny ok😅 Greetings from Greece, you can join us too 👌❤️
Thank you so much Freddo, really appreciate it 😊 Haha, we are sure they must think that 😁 We would love head to Greece! 😍🇬🇷❤️
@@MattandJulia ❤️❤️❤️
WOW baklava, love it. Where I live it's a shop that have it. Did you miss to eat köfti?
i've read "donkey-milk soap" - call cleopatra, immediately!
i like food vids...especially street-food - please keep going on!
Haha, she's on her way to sort it out! Thank you very much 😊
Stuffed Mussels! yes
Wow I want to go Istanbul 🥰🥰
It is an incredible city, and a real heaven for foodies 😍💕
@@MattandJulia thank you ♥️
nice video
Thank you very much Ali! 😊
Next time, you go to the Beşiktaş breakfast street for traditional turkish breakfast experince👌
Thank you for the advice, will do 🥰
Hi, I found your channel while researching Georgia (I'll leave for at least a decade of travel next year, permanently if I'm able to follow your youtubing footsteps)
If you go back to Istanbul, I know there is a restaurant specializing in ottoman era food, including royal cuisine. I simply cannot remember its name, but its there. Could be something for you two to look into.
You must go to a restaurant which specialises in fish and mezes by the bosphorus. Try Raki with it too. Preferably a place with live music and a great athmosphere.
Thank you so much! We will be sure to check it out when we return to Istanbul soon! 🙏🏼
At home I serve the kind of food I know the story behind
13:30 thats tantuni on a whole other level as i know them
It was a good one, we read online that the place we got it is a highly rated one in Istanbul 😊
Normally eaten as a tantuni wrap(dürüm), there was a special version in the video. It is famous in Turkey city Mersin
Welcom to turkey🇹🇷
thank you very much 🤗❤️
Ohh a cute couple (I guess) in my hometown . I am happy to you liked our cultural meals the traditional tastes .Also you made me hungry . I am going to eat menemen as soon as possible.
Thank you so much! Hope you got some Menemen!🙃
@@MattandJulia not yet but I will 😋
Kokoreç is number one ☝🏻
We love it so much!!!
food looks amazing but being diabetic i would not be able to have it great video again thank you give me a kebab any day lol steve
Thank you very much, really glad you enjoyed it 🤗❤️
God I'm hungry now😋
Haha, sorrrryyyyy 😉😅
If you are still in Istanbul, I suggest you go to Ozkanak, which is a restaurant located in Taksim. You can find there a million times tastier rice pudding and burned pudding than you bought from the market.
Thank you so much Bülent! We have left Istanbul but we definitely save the name of the restaurant for when we return ☺️🙏🏼
You can also try the food in the SYRIAN shops in Istanbul
You won't regret it.
Welcome, ❤️
Thank you very much Hortlak!❤️🇹🇷🙏🏼
Watching at 12am really what am I suppose to do at this time order a pizza 😂😂😂😂😂
hahaaha, we are sorry! 😃 did you order a pizza? 😂
Yes double pepperoni pizza 😂👍👍😂 enjoy ur journey!!!!
Hhaha, thanks!!
Nice video. Thanks. Please make a movie for more.
Thank you so much, new videos 3 times a week :)
Beautiful Couple 😍
Thank you very much, so sweet of you! ☺️
Very sweet couple.
And of course 100% ;-)
🙌🙌
Good 😍😘👍👌⭐⭐⭐
Thank you very much Faiza ! ☺️♥️
Turkish ice cream made from goat milk which also effects it's both taste and stiffness. And actually those tricks etc isn't something touristic at all as i was only five years old when i first met one of those guys. I learned an important lesson that day😁😁
Also we call walnut baklava poor man's baklava as it is much cheaper and less tastier than pistachio baklava. If you didn't try pistachio baklava you definitely must..
Haha, bless 5 year old you, we both would have done the same 😂
Yeah, pistachio > walnut every time 🙃
Great video! Just have to point out the spicy Turkish sausage you had for breakfast is not pronounced Su-kook, it's Su-chook. the c with a tail is pronounced as Ch :)
Thanks so much ☺️ no worries, thanks for letting us know!
Actualy its sucuk(Turkish) or sujook ,sounding using English equivalent.ch sound iş only in words like çalışmak. Ç=ch as in cheese or checslovaki
Great video and great food. But when you will eat the best turkish street food the you must go to Gaziantep, Urfa or Adana. Its better the in Istanbul.
Thank you very much, we REALLY want to head to Gaziantep especially, all depends on money 🤞😊
The best food, the best city!
Yeah it is so awesome! We adore Istanbul!
Nice sharing new friend here stay connected and stay safe thanks 👉🔔🔔
Thank you so much Afghan food! 😊🙏🍲
kahvaltı means "before coffee" first eat turkish breakfast after drink turkish coffee
How interesting! Thanks 😦🥰
Afiyet olsun. Sadece bir düzeltme yapacağım. Sucuk düzgün bir şekilde söylemi hakkında. Türkçede Sucuk yani bunu Rusçada en yakın söylemi ( Суджук ).
for good food, you must go east of Turkey Adana , antep, hatay
Yeah ilwe really wanted to, especially Gaziantep, but the lockdown scuppered then plans unfortunately, but we will be back 😍
Quick info: Salep is not a type of flour from wheat. Its original version are collected from wild orchids.
Yes we know 😊
..Well Done .
Thank you very much!
@@MattandJulia Thank you so much.Thank you so much.
Thank you so much.
Guys, salep is actually made by orchid flowers..
Yeah, it's flour made out of flowers 😊 we are aware
Will you come to Pakistan 🇵🇰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
At some point for sure! 😊❤
🌼🌷
