@@terraseamapping823 I definitely know what you mean. I've had pretty good success with my collection so far with only a few problems internally here and there
I love that you guys use the prequel style lightsaber fighting as a clear reference point. That is how lightsaber combat is supposed to look and it was what George Lucas always wanted to do but couldn't in the 80s due to technology. Great work man!
I'm Brazilian, I imagine the work it must have taken to put the special effects of the lightsabers clashing and everything else, congratulations for your work man
The lighting at 2:24 was awesome. I like how these duels emulate the prequels’ spiny moves, even if they can be a bit impractical at times. The best balance would be to just not have spots where the person spinning leaves their back completely open long enough for their opponent to easily hit them, like most of the Battle of the Heroes. The only issue I have with this duel is when one person turns and jogs away. They’re leaving their back completely open so their only defense would be creating distance. They’d be running as fast as they can to create that distance, lengthening their stride and almost jumping to evade any attacks. Aside from that, I love the sort of visual storytelling without any dialogue these duels have, and, in regards to the production, they’re relatively more impressive than most actual Star Wars duels.
I've seen people legitimately try to defended spending moves because their entire sword training came from Revenge of the Sith. Like, they don't know anything about swords, they just grew up watching Star Wars and think that that's how swords work. I of course challenged them to a duel, and they said yes. Every time they tried some crazy spending attack I would nonchalantly thrust my saber forward and they would be defeated. Every time. Spinning doesn't work.
@@Bored_Overthinker You actually got it spot on. All of our "sword training" and choreography knowledge came from watching the prequels and especially Revenge of the Sith over and over again. As the years and duels have gone by I'm definitely considering making them more realistic (less spiny moves etc)
@@Bored_Overthinker Of course, as with all things, there are some exceptions to spinning where it can be beneficial. Those moments are so few and far between that you can argue they’re negligible and it’s more of a moment where spinning may not be advised but is just acceptable, but there are times. You ever see that video of the dude in a bunch of duels dual-wielding, spinning, and rolling around like he’s in Dark Souls but actually dominating all his fights?
Nice choreography, but editing, music, and there is no emotions or dialogue. Why would I care for either duelists? There are things the movies does greatly better.
These modern light sabers are awesome. Makes perfect sense to use them in the movies since the light reflects on the characters and set. Cool duel this must’ve taken a lot of practice. Hilarious too folks in street clothes not Star Wars costumes. Really cool.
I had always heard they were fragile. Either they've gotten a lot better or those are two exceptional light sabers. Cool video. I like they way you did consistent cuts to look like you were just changing for a better angle, but probably it was to allow you to film short segments to get the moves ready. Would save a ton of time vs having a long drawn out scene.
That transition from the tree at the end was some damn smooth editing. I thought for a second it was just going to show the other side of the tree but bro straight up just teleported to a whole new location. 10/10 editing. Also, love this kinda shit, we need more of it in today's media. Not enough GOOD Lightsaber duels. Hell, I wouldn't even call whatever happened in the 3 newest movies DUELING. It was just the main characters flailing their Lightsabers around like twigs instead of a deadly beam sword that could decapitate you or sever a limb with a single strike. And don't even get me started on that crap Kylo did to Finn in their fight. I don't care if he was wearing some kind of heavy duty armor, bro should've gotten gutted like a damn salmon for taking a hit like that from the back. That or it would've completely evaporated his spine.
G'day it's Steven from Down Under Very cool Great effort and well choreographed. Love the light saber reflections on multiple surfaces The force is strong with this one.
i like how in each moment one starts to stand out over the other and vice versa, is noticeable how the purple one start the fight attacking him with agression as the other easily tank his attacks with a really good defense and start to attack him back, with more strong and powerful attacks, making the one in purple starts to destabilize and start losing and run away to take some air and get himself together, and also putting the red one in a trap! CAUSE NOW HIS GOT THE HIGH GROUND BABY, and getting the light saber back, he start to ack with more powerful attacks, making the red one start to losing his balance, then the red one start to put himself togheter and defend the attacks, but the purple one is now too strong and he then finally hit him in and finish him off 👏 beautiful
And to think that a 3 minute video on UA-cam of all places is better the entire sequel trilogy thats made by Disney, a multibillion dollar company is just insane
Amazing fights as always but less jumpcuts would do this so much good. (Ik its difficult asf to do so much in one shot but it would do so much good for the fights. Makes it more immersive)
That was totally Epic, dang that was fun to watch. Makes me want to go buy a light saber. I love sword fights and always wanted to do a film shoot like this. Well done indeed!!!
great choreography. What are your thoughts on ranging, timing, using the lightsaber more like a rapier and targeting the attacker and not the weapon. like in real sword technique and tactics?
The choreography itself is really good, though it is a bit unrealistic (not that Star Wars itself isn't unrealistic) You guys do a good job of making it look like you are actually trying to hit each other and not just waiting for the other person's lightsaber to connect so you can do your next move. Idk if you take constructive criticism but I recommend standing further apart from each other. Distance is super important in a real sword duel, and a lot of times when an attack is too close it leaves the attacker wide open, which can make the defender's actions look less believable if they don't act on it. (That's why Anakin loses his hand in Attack of the Clones, he was aggressive and got too close on the offensive) Overall I'd suggest watching some videos on real life sword techniques and why they exist. A lot of Star Wars copies real sword techniques without really needing to, because lightsabers have no weight and don't need big windups. Winding up would only be necessary to telegraph an attack to fool the opponent. If you want to add some flair to your attacks, try to make it appear as if you are going to do one thing but then attack from an unexpected angle. You can get some really cool and interesting shots by doing this.
This was an entertaining saber battle, pretty well done. One thing I did notice was the fight should have been over much sooner. The blue saber user does this spin flourish after every move, essentially leaving himself completely open as he spin/swings is backwards everytime. Looks cool, but was overused, IMHO.
