There is a lot underground, but it's not a Putin thing... it's cold war thing. While there was a pause in the 90s, once the gov't got back up on their feet, they didn't exactly abandon many of the projects that were being pursued. Some got repurposed and maybe instead of a secret research facility, we got something else, but none of this is really new. This is standard Russia.
We used to have entire cities that didn't exist where they were doing either R&D or produced something awful (my aunt worked in one of them). I would assume a lot of the things that they don't want seen simply moved underground, so if entire underground military sites turned up, it would not surprise me one bit.

I only miss the Russian subtitles, on this one, as I'm sure many Russians would find this interesting as well.

@@p_serdiuk That there is enough material in Russian about it, is not something I can confirm or deny.
But to be honest, subtitles for every video on UA-cam in every language would be desirable.
It would promote cultural exchange and better understanding towards other cultures.

Yeah but translation is sadly still an unsolved problem in AI. It's enormously hard to do well. We'd need something like GPT-6 to really implement it.

I prefer Finland's approach. The underground bunker is designed to accommodate the entire city population (not just the 3-4 most powerful men and the military) and you can access it at all times (you can even rent a space to play football lol).
