Cancel culture is always a topic for debate and in this video I give some of my thoughts on cancel culture. #rap #hiphop #cancelculture Socials linktr.ee/iuse...
Dababy got sent into oblivion. He can rap that’s a fact. But his songs were definitely starting to sound exactly the same and his brand wasn’t strong enough. Can’t name a single album of his. He just didn’t have staying power so when he got “cancelled” for the homophobia, nobody cared to save em.
Dababy killed his image after cancellation. He made all the wrong moves including trying to kiss random female fans and them curving him and videos of it going viral on twitter His public image before cancellation was that he's a real gangsta (killed a dude in walmart), top tier rapper (raps fast&has bars) and a great entertainer (funny music videos, viral moments) After cancellation his image got damaged and then he continued to break it down even further by dropping ass singing songs and getting clowned for it, selling triple cardboard and having other cringe moments associated with his name without any real Ws. He can still hop on a radio and spit a fire freestyle, you cant take that away from him but the public perception of him is much much worse at this point
DaBaby was never talented idk how he blew up his entire flow was a watered down version of Hoodrich Pablo Juan flow Creativity has a lot to do with it too when times get rough only those who are talented can survive
I would argue that for a celebrities, this principle would apply, but for regular people, you will see how their lives can be ruined , in the end cancel culture is about power...
Dababy is probably the only celebrity I've seen get his career wiped in one sweep bc of the idiot stuff he said on stage. But other factors can also contribute to the public not fw him anymore. Him trying to forcefully kiss his fans, hitting a lady when her phone bought in his face, the stuff he did with his baby moms, etc. The guy never really had a dedicated fanbase in the first place, at least in my eyes. And I used to listen to this dude a lot in middle school.

Kanye has been saying wild 'ish throughout his career bc of his bipolar and events that happened the past 2 years. People still love him. People still adore Chris Brown even after the stuff with Riri and other women, he's still thriving. People hate Nicki Minaj bc of her behavior towards other fem rappers, the media, blogs, etc. She still has one of the biggest and most dedicated fanbases out there. People still love Trey Songz. If you have a dedicated support system from your fanbase, there's nothing really to lose. (Unless it's from a financial standpoint)
Being "held accountable" would also suggest some grace and being given a second chance. And that is definitely contingent on the dedication of the fans these celebrities have.

What’s frustrating about this is that as fans of any entertainment should evolve to become more critical of the people they support, especially since fans are bankrolling them. I understand that the hypocrisy exists in terms of “they did do this, but such and such song is good”, but I think it’s time to grow beyond that. It’s an idyllic stance only because we’ve been sitting idle in this current state for a while, but really what “cancelling” is at its core is just being held accountable instead of being allowed to avoid consequences for said actions.
Problem is, everyone makes mistakes. But nowadays, people don't wanna let anyone go with things they even did 50 million years ago and even apologized, not that it matters. But fact is, nowadays people just love bringing people down

Travis scott's career literally survived (and was seemingly unaffected by) 10 people dying at HIS festival, all because the music was good enough for a lot of people. Now he's back to selling out arenas like nothing happened, and he's bigger than ever on streaming platforms
That’s because people realize that what happened was tragic but TRAVIS wasn’t the one who pushed or caused it. Can’t hold him responsible for the actions of other people.
tbh it wasnt fully travis fault for that. he got some allegations though and ppl hating on drake cause of his allegations but still bump travis as if rubi rose didnt confirm that travis was into her when she was a teen
I recently found out CB wasnt cancelled like that when I went to buy tickets for his concert it was already sold out 🤯 lol like damn breezy i thought i was gonna be able to slide to the show 😅😅
I saw the thumbnail and title and instantly knew the message of the video. Which is correct. You only get cancelled if you weren't that great to begin with.
I think he self sabotaged. Because he wanted his Fanbase to be thugs. But it was women. And I quit streaming him because he was always cussing out and abusing women fans. He dissed Meg. And Danni got on every bodies nerves.
Thank you!!! That i diot never realized that women liked him before he started to abuse women!!! His core fanbase could've been women, and he could've marketed himself as a "ladies man" but, he wanted to appeal to dudes, and be a thug.
I mean people were already getting tired of da baby. A common theme was that his music was getting repetitive as far as his flow. Add the fact that he was never cemented as a great and never really did anything inspirational for the culture and this is what you get 😂
No joke. This man was dropping music videos left and right, all sounding the same. Pumping the same trap music for over 4 years straight. There were MEMES about this guy just copy and pasting the same song 💀 I'd never forget the JoJo Siwa line
@louisinese Yeah. I've seen his Like That and Get It Sexxy freestyle and they're not so bad. He can rap his ass off, I just wished he didn't do the stupid stuff he did
I feel like cancelling as such only really sticks if you're either small-scale enough figure for your community turning against you to completely destroy your base of support, or your fanbase really is that uncommitted despite the larger scale of your exposure. The former can be genuinely concerning in how it is sometimes leveraged against very small creators from marginalised groups to settle petty scores-if you've ever hung out in certain predominantly queer online spaces, you know how this dynamic can play out-but when it comes to bigger artists, it's extremely difficult to dislodge a powerful person whose work or persona is truly beloved even if what they've done is heinous, so the people who tend to see consequences are, well, people not a lot of people liked to begin with.
I’d reframe this and say that some people are just far too talented and far too tenacious for cancel culture to have an effect on them. Donald Trump is uncancellable, as is Chris Brown, as is Ye, as is, Travis Scott, Logan Paul or Doja Cat, Morgan Wallen etc. After their scandals people said they were over but they still thrived. People thought Travis was over after the Astroworld tragedy but a few years later he’s selling out stadiums 🏟️ people thought Logan was over after his ‘suicide forest’ scandal..but a few years later he’s making more money than before the scandal even happened. We have multiple cases where being “cancelled” made ‘XYZ’ celebrity MORE famous rather than less, (and everybody loves a comeback story)! So yeah, you may get cancelled, but you can always rise from the ashes, come back 2 years later, and be bigger than ever.
Anyone else remember Daniel Caesar, he was huge years ago but when the audience turned on him is when he had a little slump. He still hugely popular, but he would’ve been bigger
A missing element of the thing with DaBaby is him aligning with Tory Lanez. DaBaby is known for having a large female fan base. Supporting an abuser of women tends to alienate some women…
Dababy is just a shorter version of offset. From rhyme scheme to the flow. Hes short sighted. After i saw him try to fight his own homie/artist. And dababy is boring.
Dababy could have just said "yo guys my bad i said some nonsense", a lot of issues could be solved if the person dindt double down on their bs, your leg is not falling off if you say "i said something i chould not have said"
Cancel culture doesn’t exist, many artists fanbases could care less about the crimes an artists commits. Chris Brown has a huge female fanbase despite him commiting several crimes against women, he keeps dropping music which they love. Playboi Carti choked his pregnant girlfriend and his fanbase still support him as they don’t care about the crimes. Dababy never had any good music after the homophobic remarks which is why no one cared when he stopped getting huge features. Tom Mcdonald fanbase actively likes his music and support his views (he’s a rare case due to how many people like him fall off within 2 years when people find a new person to listen to.) There’s countless times where an artists loses all support when they go against their own fanbase values. There was this upcoming rock band years ago who had a huge lgbt+ and woman audience due to their music and how they were in concerts, but when it was found out they were predators is when the audience stopped listening even though they were making the same music as before
Tbh i just feel like this mf thought he was untouchable and acted like it, people don’t like that. Not only that but from the moment dude started wearing diapers n all that bs people just thought he was corny
Kanye west should’ve been cancelled at his peak just like Dababy Now it’s too late, he’s already too powerful and the damages are already done. He is worse than Dababy and his time will come, everything will be exposed.
He really juss took his foot off the gas cuz that situation that led him to here look at lil baby he not dropping anymore even if he drop rn people gon say it’s trash but why stop literally
I dont think its fair to compare Dababy to Chris Brown, Kanye, Em, or R Kelly because they already had amazing careers and were booming long before cancel culture was a thing. I can guarantee if R Kelly was to come out today he wouldn't go 20 years without a problem even after we have the evidence (we had the evidence back in 2000 for this man)
I hope he reads this. I think he's only trying to make a video from his own perception. Da baby wasn't yet cemented in the game.. he can't make a hit now because people don't care
Tyler the creator is another artist that was facing a lot of heat early on into his career because of all the stuff he was saying. At one point he even got banned from the UK, but he is good at what he does and put genuine effort into his craft and evolving as an artist. The fans saw that and stuck around. Dababy had an even bigger blow up than tyler yet his career crashed an burned in a few short years because his brand just wasn't very strong, so no core fanbase, and he made no signs of actual evolution. He stuck to the same formula and it got old fast. Also, he did a terrible job at damage control and only made things worse.
I think the whole cancellation thing is really just a question of whether or not you're replacable in the industry. The second DaBaby started talking I knew he was cooked. The reality is to executives who don't care about the music that you've got DaBaby, Lil' Baby, Babytate, and Babytron. That's 4 artists named Baby. And his flows are starting to sound samey? Even without the controversy bro was asking to be replaced.
Been saying this! Used this exact example (Dababy). If your music is actually good people will always rock with you, some will stop listening but there will always be enough. Kanye, MJ, CB are all good examples, they could never get cancelled unless they did some R.Kelly level shit. DaBaby was never good he just got hella promotion from Spotify/apple music at the peak of Rap as pop music
Da Baby definitely got cancelled, there’s no way around it. But He got cancelled around the time people were getting tired of those SpongeBob type beats and his non switching flow. It was a mix of both
So long as you have a core fanbase you’ll be good. Dababy sadly didn’t have that, he was like a glorified 24k golden aka had big songs and a lot of streams but no strong fanbase
CB is always crying cancel culture which is bs. If the world actually cared about women he’d be back in W.V. and we’d never hear another R Kelley song played. There’s no such thing as cancel culture.
Tyler the creator another guy too lol I loved odd future back in the day but as an adult I do realize they said some insane shit lol dude got banned from an entire country but he has a strong fanbase
Even before the homophobic shit, I just stopped listening to his music because it's all repetitive and near-identical to one another. The memes of him were funny though until they were killed by his comments.
There may be an outlier or 2 that I don’t know about, but I’d say the vast majority of the time cancellation only actually happens when the work you put out is bad/gets bad or if you’re straight up convicted of a crime
🤨 Brother, what type of projection is this? You do realize that the GP weren't fw him way before the rolling loud incident, right? It wasn't just women. Do your homework. People got tired of music, and his flow was boring. Almost every time you heard about the guy, he was in some type of altercation, not the music. His pop collaborators and brand deals condemned his behavior and weren't working with him no more, it wasn't just all women. Dababy gave half-assed apologies after the rolling loud and legit wasn't trying to save face.
People in Chicago were selling bootleg copies of his sextape during and after the trial in the early 2000’s. It took two trials, a 6 part documentary, decades of abuse coming to light and an interview with Gayle King for this man to finally be convicted and people will still plug his music. If anything R. Kelly is the best example to his point

I was just having this conversation with my mom and older brother about how cancel culture doesn't exist. Like the more famous you are, the less likely you are to get canceled, especially in the peak of your career. I was talking about Chris Brown and Diddy, like after the winds die down nobody will mention Diddy and maybe some brands won't work with him but he'll still be rich and still work behind the scenes. Everyone talked about Ye getting canceled by losing his Adidas contract like he ain't still famous, rich, and doesn't still have a huge fan base
understandable but we know sometimes the media is very picky about who they cancel. its hella celebs that should n in jail rn😂 n the media praise them. den u got mfs dat just say stupid shii n ppl rather easily cancel dem

I recently found out CB wasnt cancelled like that when I went to buy tickets for his concert it was already sold out 🤯 lol like damn breezy i thought i was gonna be able to slide to the show 😅😅
Not cancelled just blacked balled from mainstream media
Nobody was mad at him for dissing Danni it was due to comments she had already made😂
FRESH AND UNFIT CHARGE $4000!! 😂😂😂
The fact that the video length is 20:21😂😂😂
I mean people were already getting tired of da baby.

The Travis Scott selling out stadiums is wild because I couldn’t tell you one Travis Scott song 😮
That is what the video is saying it's just a humourous click bait title
Did you actually include Donald Trump in this?🤦🏾♀️ What is Trump's "talent"...grifting?

A missing element of the thing with DaBaby is him aligning with Tory Lanez. DaBaby is known for having a large female fan base. Supporting an abuser of women tends to alienate some women…
Dababy is just a shorter version of offset. From rhyme scheme to the flow. Hes short sighted. After i saw him try to fight his own homie/artist. And dababy is boring.
I never listened to dababy but after the homophobia thing I’m not going to on purpose
Dababy error was asking for forgiviness
i felt bad for him he had protentional
Dababy could have just said "yo guys my bad i said some nonsense", a lot of issues could be solved if the person dindt double down on their bs, your leg is not falling off if you say "i said something i chould not have said"
@@dominosglezerwe seen his full potential dudes heat was dying down that rolling loud situation just accelerated it
@@chrisville004 yeah also that shooting Allegation he had
No... his error was doing in the first place (along w/ all the other crap he was doing).
Tom Mcdonald fanbase actively likes his music and support his views (he’s a rare case due to how many people like him fall off within 2 years when people find a new person to listen to.)
There’s countless times where an artists loses all support when they go against their own fanbase values.
Kanye west should’ve been cancelled at his peak just like Dababy
Now it’s too late, he’s already too powerful and the damages are already done.
He is worse than Dababy and his time will come, everything will be exposed.
I don't think Ye killed someone plus he made graduation

He really juss took his foot off the gas cuz that situation that led him to here look at lil baby he not dropping anymore even if he drop rn people gon say it’s trash but why stop literally

Out of all the rap commentary channels I watch your definitely the best🙌
I never liked Dababy anyway 🤷🏽♂️, but from what I did hear it all sounded similar
This isn’t really true for some others tho such as playboi Carti
Tyler the creator is another artist that was facing a lot of heat early on into his career because of all the stuff he was saying. At one point he even got banned from the UK, but he is good at what he does and put genuine effort into his craft and evolving as an artist. The fans saw that and stuck around. Dababy had an even bigger blow up than tyler yet his career crashed an burned in a few short years because his brand just wasn't very strong, so no core fanbase, and he made no signs of actual evolution. He stuck to the same formula and it got old fast. Also, he did a terrible job at damage control and only made things worse.
Cancel culture existed going back to the 90s. Go look up Sinead o Connor pope controversy from 1993
@@devanshepard9118 this and the satanic panic
Kinda sounds like you're conflating success with virtue.
These comments mostly suck. This is a good funny click bait title.
Been saying this! Used this exact example (Dababy). If your music is actually good people will always rock with you, some will stop listening but there will always be enough. Kanye, MJ, CB are all good examples, they could never get cancelled unless they did some R.Kelly level shit. DaBaby was never good he just got hella promotion from Spotify/apple music at the peak of Rap as pop music
da baby was only lit cus of covid jus like nba 2k20
Da Baby definitely got cancelled, there’s no way around it. But He got cancelled around the time people were getting tired of those SpongeBob type beats and his non switching flow. It was a mix of both
Definitely makes sense in DaBaby's case
They want to say or do "edgy" stuff but then act like snowflakes when the public property reacts. The 1st amendment doesn't care about yout feelings.
So long as you have a core fanbase you’ll be good. Dababy sadly didn’t have that, he was like a glorified 24k golden aka had big songs and a lot of streams but no strong fanbase
Having 864 views in 1 hr
Bro fall off😂
CB is always crying cancel culture which is bs. If the world actually cared about women he’d be back in W.V. and we’d never hear another R Kelley song played. There’s no such thing as cancel culture.
Solid points
Chris Brown is not a "victim" of cancel culture. Hw consistently does whatever violence he wants. Some care, most don't
Hitler was the biggest dictator
inside of donda 😂
Tyler the creator another guy too lol I loved odd future back in the day but as an adult I do realize they said some insane shit lol dude got banned from an entire country but he has a strong fanbase
R Kellys penmenship is untouched. His melodies are crazy. Vocals deadly. You cant touch that.
Even before the homophobic shit, I just stopped listening to his music because it's all repetitive and near-identical to one another. The memes of him were funny though until they were killed by his comments.
There were dome interesting points in this video. Especially the R.Kelly one and did not know Ye is independent artist and not on a record label.
I stopped listening to dababy for sure when he was supporting that leprechaun who shot megan. But I was already on my way out when he hit a women.
PAY COOKING YET AGAIN
There may be an outlier or 2 that I don’t know about, but I’d say the vast majority of the time cancellation only actually happens when the work you put out is bad/gets bad or if you’re straight up convicted of a crime
i think you're forgetting dababy's main audience were black women. black women are greatly affected by hiv/aids, they "cancelled" him
🤨 Brother, what type of projection is this? You do realize that the GP weren't fw him way before the rolling loud incident, right? It wasn't just women. Do your homework. People got tired of music, and his flow was boring. Almost every time you heard about the guy, he was in some type of altercation, not the music. His pop collaborators and brand deals condemned his behavior and weren't working with him no more, it wasn't just all women. Dababy gave half-assed apologies after the rolling loud and legit wasn't trying to save face.
As a black woman this is nowhere near the reason black women was mad at Da Baby. We are no more affected by HIV\ AIDs than any other group of women. 🙄
"His account got banned in real life" 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
Good video. But Justin Bieber did the same thing (not the style of photos) but charged a lot for meet & greets on Believe Tour

His music was always trash anyways
@@tacianoborges6210if R-Kelly is trash you really don’t know music.
People in Chicago were selling bootleg copies of his sextape during and after the trial in the early 2000’s. It took two trials, a 6 part documentary, decades of abuse coming to light and an interview with Gayle King for this man to finally be convicted and people will still plug his music. If anything R. I don’t Think getting cancelled is all that bad. Baby’s still a multi millionaire, still gets do make money doing what he loves and is still famous. Sure he’s not mainstream anymore, however without a doubt the man is still winning. Heck he even got a Club Shay Shay interview a few months back. Man being cancelled sounds great to me. 😂
From what I understand, his money is dwindling. That $10M he made didn't go far.

Nobody defends R Kelly, liking the music isn't a line of defence for his actions. It's simply still enjoying the music. This should be obvious.

Also cancel culture kinda died out in this last year or so. It’s easy to say it’s not a thing now but from like 2018-2022, it was definitely THE thing

I’ve always thought of it this way. As a celebrity your literal job is to be liked by the masses. If you fail to be liked by the masses (cancelled) then you are bad at your job
This is what ive been saying about da baby, he didnt fall off because of the things he said, the fell off cause his music wasnt good
