My wife and I watched your two videos back to back on the tv. She likes your cars. She wants me to have some. Thanks for that. Haha. Great job. You make it look easy. Can’t wait to see the whole train once this project is complete.
Lol thanks Mark! Hey they are nothing compared to those LRCs but they will hold their own lol. I have some Rapido NT transit Comet cars on order. They will be my first Rapido Passenger cars so I’m excited. But the Blue Comet should be a pretty train running on the layout.
Great to see progress on your Blue Comet train. The magnets work well to hold the roof, but still make it removable. The LED lights look awesome. The observation car is coming along nicely, that was a good call to modify a standard car into the observation car. Once you get everything done it is going to look fantastic on the club layout.-Tom
I watched that MarklinofSweden video on passenger car lighting a few weeks ago. That guy is an excellent modeller, and so are you, John. Holding the roof with magnets is a great idea, too. As usual, thanks for sharing. My Inglenook Sidings mini-switching layout is progressing. I finished hand painting the ties and rail, and am now working on the structures. I'm also experimenting with new weathering techniques and re-worked a Bachmann L&N GE 70-tonner as an ex-steel mill patch job leased unit, Michiana Terminal Services, Inc, MTSX 1 (inspired by your RSSX units). Your layout videos continue to inspire all my modelling work. Cheers from Wisconsin.
Thanks Andrew! It’s great to hear you are enjoying the layout and modeling. I will be moving soon so my time recently has been spent thinking of what’s next... it’s a struggle dialing in the next project. Thanks for watching, John
I’ve been looking forward to seeing more progress on this project and you’re doing an outstanding job as always with this! The paintwork on the cars is coming out really nice and the interior of the combine car looks really great. I appreciate you showing how you added the lighting as well as linking the tutorial you used, I’ll definitely have to try that method myself at some point with my cars lacking lighting systems. Overall, good luck on your work as this project progresses, it’s been really neat seeing this develop so far and I’m really looking forward to what’s to come down the line!
Thanks! It sure is a lot of fun seeing these cars come to life. For sure give the Lighting Tutorial a try and I would be happy to help with any questions on how they go together. All the best, John
Heya John, im trying to play catch up and see how the Comet project was going. I love the magnet Idea and the LED lighting looks like a perfect project, the way you did it. Great progress. Cheers Rob
Thanks Rob! The project is nearing completion. I should have another update out shortly then soon following a run video at the club with the completed train. All the best buddy! - John
Man your Blue Commits are looking great. I don't know if you heard about Model Train Technology but they have lighting kits from the wheels up at a pretty good price. I had a friend turn me on to them. Anyway looking forward to seeing more, Chris
Thanks! Yes the Riverossi cars look good although they are all the wrong car types and am extremely light, plastic wheels, and truck mounted couplers. It’s funny... one of the metal trucks on these kits is heavier than the entire Riverossi car lol they can be modified to run well though. Really looking forward to running the set as a whole. Thanks for the comment, John
Great project your working and doing excellent work...the Central RR of New Jersey would be very proud of your replication...will the first run be on your in-laws layout or your new layout?
I am so looking forward to it being complete! I think I will film a really cool video of it on the club layout. It has some great scenes that are close to that era and I have some cool ideas lol
What part of Florida? I am in Savannah, I have tons of HO, I would give you some of my kits if they fit your needs. Massive collection, including my dads stuff.
My BF suggested I bash the obs car instead of looking for a kit of it, glad it's working for you! Edit: Also what caps and rectifier are you using? I might try your lighting as well. Also lucky you for finding a Giacobini kit! I'm making my dining car out of a Blue Box steel diner.
I believe I added a link to the tutorial video I referenced in this or the last update video. I used exactly what he did and found it all in Amazon very cheap. I can’t remember off the top of my head and I am away from home for a week or so. Good luck with the build. I am 95% done with the dining car. I can’t wait to run the whole train at the club. I’ll make a video of that.
I really need to put out a video on the completed set… I just haven’t been able to go to the club to run it. I will do this sometime soon. Thanks for watching
@John2618 I was able to find a IHC blue comet loco that has had dcc sound added already. It is one of my favorite locos along with southern cresent limited.
Nice! The set i built is for sure my favorite piece in the collection. I still have a few finishing touches and then I will put out a final video of it running.

impressive work John.
Looking good John!
Wow these are looking great! What a great Ebay find, too!
Thanks Joey! Yes I have been looking for this kit for almost a year now. I’m excited to start this car!

Looks great!! Awesome job so far.
That is excellent work John! Can't wait to see all the cars being pulled by the locomotive on your new layout!
Thanks bud! Yes I am stoked to have the full train running. Should be a great sight.
Looks great, John! ...Claude
Thanks Claude!

Fantastic stuff. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Drew!
Wow those look flawless, great work. I really need to get an airbrush.
Thanks Ian! Airbrushing can be intimidating but once you start experimenting and build confidence in using it, I couldn't see modeling now without it.
I know the only way to get a custom paint job with a finish like you did is air brush. Once again you did a phenomenal job!

Excellent work! The Rivarossi AHM cars are based off Madison style observation cars. Hence the 3 axel trucks.
Thanks! ahhh that makes sense. Hopefully the observation car looks as good as the others when complete.
@@RailserveJohn For sure it will! Been following since episode one and can't wait to see what's in store next!
Very nice work John, the lighting and interiors in the cars looks excellent.
Looking forward to next update
Thanks for sharing, Cary
Thanks Cary! It is an exciting yet time intensive project. But I am very happy with it so far.
EXCELLENT work so far. This is going to look great when finished
Thanks Joe! It sure is a lot of work building these cars but seeing them complete is really beautiful.

Thanks Chris. We have some of their products on our club layout. Some really cool stuff. Thanks for watching, John
Hiya John they look tremendous, i think they will look awesome when finished completely
Thank you so much Digger! wow these are a ton of work but I keep chugging along lol
Wow, just wow!!
Thanks Heath! I have lost count on the hours spent on these cars but little by little they are coming to life. all the best, John
@@RailserveJohn That's what it takes, one small step at a time.
Wow those cars look great! They look better than Rivarossi in my opinion!👍

@@RailserveJohn Yep!
You could put a reed switch somewhere in-line to be able to turn the lights on and off
Thanks Nate! I have had an issue finding more self latching reed switches.

Hello sir! It's been awhile since we have seen anything on this project! Hope everything is going well!
Thanks. It is way overdue for an update. All of the cars are complete and running well!

I live in Central/South FL

Some day you will be a On30 modeler!
I love On30. One day I’m sure I will dabble in it lol
@@RailserveJohn your modeling is very impressive.
Any update on this train? Id love to see what it looks like now
I really need to put out a video on the completed set… I just haven’t been able to go to the club to run it. I will do this sometime soon. Thanks for watching
@@RailserveJohn 10-4! Ill be on the lookout for it, Blue Comet was my very first train set when I was a Toddler from Railking.
Sorry, you have to hold it in. Restroom. Being used for capacitor .
LOL Yes the constant lighting is way more important!
😂🤣😂🤣👍👍👍👍
Are you using different cars for the cnj blue comet and painting them? I cannot find but one car listed as cnj on their site
I’m using their CNJ coaches, Combine and Baggage. They do offer a Blue Comet decal set that I am using as well.
@John2618 I was able to find a IHC blue comet loco that has had dcc sound added already. It is one of my favorite locos along with southern cresent limited.

@John2618 what color did you use for the so-called sand color looks like a shade of cream
I mixed my own using a tan and white. I kind of “eye balled it” off of the Riverossi model I had.
