Thank you for the tutorials on practicing. I now practice alone and before making a drawing. So helpful to then apply learned techniques to a drawing. My raven and other birds are coming out better than I could imagine. Some success under the belt builds confidence quickly. Truly appreciative. Thank you. Moving on to some trees.
That's so awesome to hear. Thank you for sharing about y our progress, glad to know and wish you success!
By far the best UA-cam video about drawing trees with pen and ink, and I've watched many. 👑
One thing, though: "before shading it we want to set up the direction of the strokes because this will provide information about the directions that the leaves grow from, the stem direction that the branches grow" (01:53). It's the first time I hear/read this; it's very smart and makes lots of sense, but frankly I can't really see it for the leaves in the finished drawing... I would love some more details on how to apply that. I'll look at the blog.
Glad that you enjoyed the video. You'll find another example of line direction when looking at a leaf, the veins from the stem, in this blog post: longstrideillustration.com/how-to-draw-a-border-for-beginners/
Super comprehensive, easy to follow, nicely structured, just simple an clean!!! Thank you so much for the lesson :)
you‘ve helped me to understand techniques i‘ve partially been using unconciously that i now can use consiously thanks to you❤
Awesome, thank you! I really appreciate the kind words, and I know what you mean - sometimes it's just a matter of hearing-out-loud what we already know that makes things click.
Thank you for this video it helps a lot in my journey.

Bienvenue! Thanks for watching 😀
This is so helpful. I am starting to learn how to draw with ink. And hell, is this frustrating 😅
Thanks a million for your cool videos!
You're so welcome! And I hear you about the frustrations of learning pen and ink. It's not easy, and that's why this medium is so cool when we see it executed proficiently by the great masters. I aim to present a Master Study every 3rd video - so far these studies have had a huge impact on my learning, plus others seem to enjoy watching those too.
