This video explains the exact reason why I love this story. I haven't seen many stories where the psyche of a character is so developed and characterized. :)
This manga is one of the most complex storys I've read and i love it because it feels real when a fight starts we feel like we are in the fight . When the characters are doing investigations we investigate with them its such a great experience.
I think Haise is one of the best personalities because it really shows somber side of psychotical horror and how broken Kaneki really is, like White Haired Kaneki is fantastic and tormented but something about this hurt and broken kid just trying to be something to people, he knows that he has a past but doesn't want to know about it because he has a family now, a mother and father who care about him and kids who he loves, really gets to me. It feels genuinely scary for the reader and for Haise himself. Loved the video by the way, I like seeing people actually talk about the horror of the manga and not just how good it is.
It’s true, the anime cut some many things out to an extent where it just stopped making sense. Take Kaneki joining aogiri in the anime it just doesn’t make any sense
Do you guys remember the first episode of :re where urie starts eating himself to be able to fight nishiki? (I think it could have also been torso, I don't remember.) that scene was very metaphorical to me. Urie started eating himself so he can be better, and that to me showed how people over-do themselves, even if it means hurting them.
I find the ghoul and human conflict in this series very metaphorical, I mean in our world we have people that literaly have to commit crimes to survive, and a large part of society hates this people and want they to just die. Idk for you guys but for me this is very similar to the ccg and ghoul fight in the manga.
What we need to consider is that the crimes the ghouls commit is not just any crime, but the crime of killing other human beings. Since the humans still dominate their world, I find it hard to believe that they will find common ground since they have to accept that ghouls are allowed to eat their own kind. Even though they might get fed corpses or something, I believe many humans would be against giving away their own families dead bodies to feed ghouls. And I have issues believing that all ghouls would be okay with the humans rationing their food, since if humans are allowed free amount of food, then why does ghouls have to be controlled? Does ghouls have to contribute to society (working or smth) to get their rations of human flesh? Some ghouls will be extremely against being that controlled by humans, and maybe will go ham on attacking humans as a protest. And even if artificial flesh were created for ghouls to survive without humans, who is responsible for that? The humans? Will the flesh and meat be as easily available as actual humans are? Or if the ghouls are in control, how would that work? Also, people like Tsukiyama still exists, that would probably rather die than eat some dull substitute to meat instead of the special tastes he seeks. And yet again, those ghouls that dislike being suppressed for being ghouls, and would rather roam free in their stronger power and kill and eat as they like would be hard to stop in these cases. Sorry for rant, I just feel rather critical that they will find a common ground, at least with the few options I have come up with.
Sven Bengtsson I can think in another option, if the toxin liberated by Dragon can turn humans into ghouls than maybe it's possible for ghouls to became humans. But I get your point, not everyone would be able to forget all the diferences of the past and live in this new world or even change their way of living for a greater good.
You have to look at things from the ghoul perspective as well. Humans are not without innocent blood on their hands. The CCG are the other side of the same violent and murderous coin. Mr Mado and Arima exterminate ghouls indiscriminately wether the ghoul has killed humans or not. just imagine a family of ghouls who are law abiding and non-killing. they are living a normal life just like everybody else as humans in every way, the only difference is the food they eat (in this case scavenged from a suicide area). One day they happen to cross an investigators path and are mercilessly slaughtered for no reason other than the type of body they were born in. And to add to it their body parts are taken to be made into weapons. Imagine being the lone surviving member and witness to all of this. how do you think it would feel? Ghouls are so similar to humans I'm sure they feel the same pain and grief and anger from losing their loved ones and seeing their bodies mutilated and parts used for humans. so who's the real monsters? and i dont wanna spoil it but the food thing and alot of other stuff is addressed in the final chapter.
I compare it more to Veganism (and Im not a vegan) and the conclusion I take from it is it is acceptable to ghouls to eat us and it is acceptable for us to try and defend ourselves, the conflict is just what it is something natural and one part will prevail sometimes and sometimes won't like the relation we have to animals we eat
One thing I love about the manga is how there is such grey morality, that is actually the most scariest and frustrating part of the whole ghoul and human conflict. Both sides want to survive but the ghouls cant survive without humanity surviving and the humans cannot survive with the ghouls surviving (uta's tattooes are basically tg in a nutshell), not only that, we still dont have a proper middleman for this conflict, sure its ken kaneki but honestly what can he possibly do? V is a better middleman in all this than Kaneki. I hope Ishida never provides a solution and keeps it a. Tragedy.
Tokyo ghoul as a psychological thriller, horror Series is overall satisfaction. It is based on Berserk, but Berserk hadn't expanded on the psychological horror after the Golden Age arc
Have you read Tokyo ghoul void? Anyway one of the stories focuses on Hinami. Hinami at that point in time (after the Agori ark) was living whit Touka. But she was concerned about kaneki and him losing himself so she joined him and his group to keep kaneki from loosing himself.
I am DEFINITELY going to have some things to say about this in a minute. I'm hiding from that two-eyed Kaneki pic. There is something so WRONG about seeing him with both eyes, and that one makes it so so much worse... Warning: the following paragraphs get WAY too real for the You Tube comments section, but I needed a place to word vomit. Alright, finished the video now. I know this video was more of you gushing on how the series did it well and a recommendation to read TG for the psychological horror aspect. That for me, personally, has been one of the main draws to TG. As a person, I am both fascinated and horrified by the concept of insanity. I believe it may be because I had a family member who was beyond brilliant, but he was also a war vet, and he became schizophrenic. The same worldly, educated man, who knew Russian and bits of Czechoslovakian and had traveled all over Europe, destroyed the things he created and broke ties with his entire family. The way my mom tells it, he had some amazing artwork to go along with a small collection of poems my aunt managed to salvage. Those poems are the greatest connection I have to him--I can't even picture his face. The idea that someone so wonderful could lose himself is a very strange wound. At the moment, I am able to calmly write this, but even so much as visiting his grave will make me burst into crazy tears. Never mind reading those poems, which cut deep as works that I will NEVER match up to. Not like him anyways. Anyways, maybe that's the route of my fascination with this series--it is distanced enough from the kind of insanity he suffered from, yet close enough to the issue to remind me. It's always possible to lose yourself and just because someone has doesn't mean they lose their feelings. Kaneki is compelling because he is so relate-able to me yet so alien. He's the same age--like in the current series. There are things about what he's gone through that ring true to me, and probably a lot of other twenty-somethings. Haise had a lot of pressure on him to be good or better than Arima along with a lot of uncertainty. It seemed like he had everything he possibly could want--why was he unhappy? He's becoming increasingly aware of the injustices in this world--the ones that are not only legal but encouraged--and isn't really sure how to handle them. Especially when that mistreatment is geared towards him. So, because it was so easy to slip into his shoes for me, I take his personal struggles as my own. The levels Ishida has pushed him to have always astounded me. Kaneki is broken in ways that are far too real--but it wasn't the physical torture that left the deepest scars. It was the little things. Watching his fingers and toes regrow and knowing that was not natural. Going out of his way to protect the only person who gave a damn about him (at the beginning anyways), only to lose that person DIRECTLY because of him(we can't deny he legit thought Hide was dead). Having his entire worldview challenged and destroyed WAY too quickly in the most callous way possible. The very knowledge that you'll never be able to enjoy a meal with someone(human) you care about, when food is one of the most basic and important things in life. Realizing you are slowly losing yourself and scaring those around you. How uncomfortable he must feel in his own skin--how lost he must be, to have that barrier flung up between him and other people. He's actually alone. He's a monster to humans. He's a monster to ghouls. Without the people who love him, he would be gone. Kaneki is experiencing many people's worst fears, all at the same time. He didn't have a particularly strong outlook to begin with. He isn't the sort who is well adjusted or outgoing. Even now, he's being thrown into leadership positions he isn't ready for, with a lot of weight resting square on his shoulders. People keep stressing how damn important he was, but he just violated everything he stood for for the second time in his life. Again, sorry for the word vomit. Yes I did get too personal, but yet not. Because when I tell someone my favorite manga is Tokyo Ghoul and they give me a look, I just want to say all of this and more. I could go on and on. About the themes. About the appeal and the surprising level of hopefulness that exists in a series where the lead characters have to cannibalize to survive. But this is enough.

One interesting thing about this series is that a lot of people have different opinions and evaluations of it, depending on their perspectives. The concept and theme that TG portrayed are hard to grasp, even more so when we can see multiple world views from various characters. And Sui Ishida himself, with his skillful use of metaphoric images instead of simply inserting straightforward words, almost put no subjective opinion into the series. Just present a picture, a situation, and then it's up to the readers. That's why I find it so much fun to watch TG analysis just to see how different people's interpretations can be.

Zaxor Von Skyler because he was just a blob of rc cells. He didnt have any control and it's still working even without him. I wouldn't exactly call it a kakuja.
Transaesthian very good possibility. After all his body has changed and that was shown after he saved Ayato that he turned back to normal. He'll probably show a full kakuja when fighting the new Rize.
The real reason how Tokyo ghoul mastered psychological horror is because of rize's gap from her boobies. It scares the shit out of us and makes us go mental.
I'd call it a good series up until Kankei gets he's white hair. After that it goes off the rail - It lost its focus. There were too many characters the writer didn't know what to do with(Touka is the best example). When The writer tried to conclude a character he would show a sad flashback right before they died horribly. Which got repetitive. I like the idea's, the sense of odd ball famliy in part one. But then in a effort the make the main character more interesting and apealing to edge lords. They made him a try hard tragic badass. How's got split personality. and When he gets mad he goes Kankei or beast mode. U know this sounds alot like Naruto. The psychocial element, and Nuance of right and wrong, eventually got drowned out by all the stupid fights, which looked cool, but had no constancy to how much punishment a ghoul could take. Fights eat up its world building and character focused narrative it had at the beginning. Also. Re has way to many time skips. Part 1 ends horrible, with a character we barely know taking out the mc, because he's Need to see the far less interesting perspective of the CCG. Berserk or Goodnight punpun are legit master works with Horror and character, not the cluster fuck that is Tokyo ghoul
Apologies for this video being a bit all over the place, also prepare for me repeating words constantly.
Love you.
Dresrosa good news the anime is going to be 24 episodes its been confirmed.

he sounds so different in this video
How do I get the thumbnail art now when the link is dead? Sadddd
I GOT A FULL SCHOOL WEEK BREAK TODAY BITCHES
almost 10 sup Dress
omg kaneki is the same personality type as me INFP
Thoughts on the 3rd season being 24 episodes?
Pretty average right now, Ill wait and see how far they really want to go regarding the final 12 episodes.
Re is having a second season in October
The anime is completely shonen-like, so they kinda missed the point of TG anyway...
Matsumae you need to read the manga
facts masterpiece manga
Unrelated but was dragon Kaneki a full kakuja?
Zaxor Von Skyler nope
Proof?
Zaxor Von Skyler because he was just a blob of rc cells. He didnt have any control and it's still working even without him. I wouldn't exactly call it a kakuja.
Sterling Hinton he might have a full kakuja now, after being removed from that kaiju
I am... A Ghoul.
Reads the title... Immediately busts out laughing and how little I can take this seriously😂😂😂
Wtf korean captures?Where are tbe english ones
Parasyte the maxim?
A psychological manga? yes. Horror? It stopped being a horror anything post Aogiri raid arc. Please
