What level of ketone should we be aiming for ?. And does this target change based on the time of day ?. My current level is 4.0 should I be aiming higher ? I’m at this level without MCT .

MCT oil is really high in fat and calories. No matter what the diet is telling you, the only way to lose body fat is to have a calorie deficit. And adding an extra 200 cal a day in my coffee seems to me like it’s a recipe for weight gain.

So you’re suggesting taking MCT oil during a fast? MCT oil is really high and fat in calories, so taking MCT oil during a fast would break your fast. And just add unnecessary calories that you would have to burn off in order not to gain weight.

Caprylic acid (C8) and MCTs come in capsule forms which I really like for portability, when using them away from home. An extra bonus is that capsules slows absorption a bit, being somewhat easier on the gut.

LevelUp Clean MCT (C8) capsules, Amazon $35 for 280 capsules. C8 (Caprilic acid ) generates the highest keytone levels of the MCT oils. It is most economical and effective to make my bulletproof coffee with a pump bottle C8 oil. But, I like the capsules for work to reduce hunger and get me through until my first meal at lunch. Just pop a couple of capsules with water or coffee, no blending, no fuss! C8 provides quick keytones to feed the brain, reduces hunger, and probably reduces inflammation throughout the body. It helps me stay in a semi-fasted state which really helps me stay at the weight I want to maintain. Lots of benefits!

ive just starting taking mct from watching these videos by thomas and i like it. im doing a ketovore for weight loss and i eat my meals between 2 and 4pm. ill take the mct after the meal like Thomas suggests and it helps to get through the last part of the day when most people get tired. and it boosts my energy to get home and continue projects. if i take too much mct after the meal lik2 gulps ive noticed ill be all jittery and roll around in the bed and i have a hard time getting my brain to slow down and sleep. but if i just take a sip of mct its just right. i think during eating our hormones rise and it knocks us out of fasting and after the meal the mct kind of sets the stage to jump into fasting again sooner. without mct maybe it would take 4 hours to reach the same state that would take an hour when consuming mct after a meal. so maybe we are getting the earlier stages of fasting done sooner and getting more time with the more powerful later stages. this is how i understand it from watching these videos

From May 2019 to Jan 2020, I was on Keto. Watched a ton of Thomas's videos, and implemented many of his Keto advice and recommendations. I lost 99lbs on Keto, went from 365lbs to 266lbs. Went from a waist size 54" to 48".
It's wasn't easy, but I was positive and really motivated. Most importantly I was very committed to not breaking out of Ketosis.
Fast forward to today. A lot has happened in the world and in my own life, and not for the good. I gained back all the weight I lost and and packed on more weight too.
I'm not motivated like I was the first time back in 2019. I hated myself for failing and gaining all my weight back. I have tried many times to get back on Keto, but I have never lasted longer than a week at a time.
I want more than anything to regain that driver, determination, and commitment; but I struggle every time. I would give my reasons, but it would sound like excuses and no one wants to hear that.
For my health and for my wife and children, I need to lose this weight and become healthy, but I struggle to get things going.
    Can you help me, Thomas?

Kinda the same with me. Oct 2020- June 2021, I lost 83 lbs. A few things happened (my birthday, vacation, a little bit of stress) & I gained back 20 lbs of my weight. Plus I already had 15 more lbs to go before I hit my goal weight... I'm trying to get back on keto & I'm not as motivated as I was when I started last year. So I'm working on losing the 35 lbs.
I think it's more mindset. Keep yourself busy. That's what I'm trying to do to get back into my groove because I know the outcome & benefits will be great.

MCT oil and L-carnitine are antagonists, so taking too much MCTs could deplete your L-carnitine and vice versa. So, keep in mind to keep the balance of those 2 guys.
Basically, every single item in nature, has its antagonist, like Vitamin C and glucose, or Zinc and Copper, Chlorine and Iodine, Nicotine and Vitamin B-12, etc....that's how it goes....
