@@SSJSonic05 eventhough the DC:EU was that bad, I think that the direction they were heading is still better (if it's true), than Snyder's original plan for the franchise. His plan was to make the majority of the DC movies Justice League movies. Every now and then, there will be solo movies of the JL members. The solo movies would be like how the MCU, pretty much self contained but was still connected within the same universe.
The MCU was successful because it had the audience wanting more Avengers movies, while not having a crossover fatigue. Some may argue that the same can be said about the opposite, but if you think about it, we're not constantly seeing every member of the Avengers. It's being paced out with every solo movie. Constantly having a global threat where it requires all JL members coming together to stop it will make the threat in the solo films as if it's not really a big deal.

Trying to put all that onto the big screen doesn't sound like the easiest thing to. A Green Lantern or Batman series alone could be it's own saga. WB would have to release 4 or 5 DC movies each year to touch on everything.

I think DCU is doomed. One of the problems of the DCU is the Snyder stuff, is too divisive, half the fanbase hate it, half love it. No matter what you do, a complete reboot or continue with the story Snyder set up, it always will alienate half of the fan base.
Also I feel like, the snyder stuff already burn some iconic moments of the comics too early. Mainly death of superman.
For the average viewer, Darkseid is to similar to Thanos, even more in the way the DCEU have traeted it. So even if i know that Darkseid was created before thanos, Darkseid in movies felt like they're just trying to imitate what marvel did. Anti monitor wouldn't be that much different, a cosmic level threat that requires all the heroes to get together to fight against. If anything, anti-monitor is less interesting for me.
Other than Snyder stuff, most DC movies struggle to find its identity, some movies is like they are not decided whether or not they want to continue with the DCEU or they want to be it's own stuff. Even if they somehow get to put all their s**t together at WB, I think it's too late because i think we already reached an exhaustation point around the superhero genre. I have many friends that no longer goes to watch the new superhero movie, even tho they are fans of the comics.
I would rather prefer they made some good stand-alone movies or leave the genre rest for a while, than watching other attempt to take the DCEU off the ground.

I think it's too late for DC. At least in the mean time. They need a group of top tier writers, including non other than comic greats Grant Morrison, Frank Miller, Niel Gaiman and a few great film writers and a very good executive producer.
It needs to be thought out, planned to be very elemental yet grounded. And it should take a few years to get together.
They should abandon the flash movie project for the time being, including any other projects, and focus attentions on the animated side while they restructure the live action cinema.
I like your ideas and you definitely laid out some good ground work. I particularly like the One-Shot series idea. It reminds me of the What If show Marvel is doing. DC's line of up of more adult content such as Swamp Thing, The Sandman, etc, are definitely a good direction DC should go. The Spectre would be a good host to it, much like The Watcher is to What If.

My idea for how to do a DCEU reboot would be:
WB should just change the title of the Flash movie to just Flashpoint then begin phase 1 of this new DCEU:
Superman For a Better Tommorrow: Taking inspiration from Geoff Johns "Superman Secret Origins" it would focus on Clark arrival at Metropolis, as he start working on the Daily Planet while, as Superman, he becomes the city's hero and deals with the pressure that comes with the role. The villains would be Parasite and Lex Luthor.
Batman Duo - It would be a sequel to Reeves The Batman, showing Bruce adopting Dick Grayson and helping him capture the criminals who killed his parents. The villains would be Mr Freeze Ventriloquist & Scarface.
Flash The Fastest Man Alive - It would showcase Barry Allen's origin, he developing his relationship with Iris and saving Central City from Gorila Grodd.
Zatanna - It would be a mix of Harry Potter with Indiana Jones Last Crusade, with the plot having Zatanna going on quest to find her father, who she belives was kidnap because he was searching for three mystical artifacts (the wheel, the jar and the bell). The main villain would be Felix Faustus.
Superman & Batman World's Finest - It would be the first DCEU crossover, showing Superman and Batman's first meeting, as the Man of Steel comes to Gotham and teams up with the dynamic duo to investigate Lex Luthor, who came to Gotham in order to sell weapons to Black Mask and his gang.
Wonder Woman Spirit of Truth - It would be a reboot showing Diana arriving at Man's World after one of her sisters receives a vision from the gods of a great calamity that is to befall the Earth. At first Diana have very feminist views on the world and most people don''t trust her, but, with the help of agent Steve Trevor and archelogist Julia Kapatelis, Diana is able to see the good of Man's World and earns the trust of the government after saving civilians from Giganta (who gain her powers from Ares, with him and Diana having a Spider Man and Tombstone type of dynamic).
Green Lantern In Brightest Day - It would showcase the origin of Hal Jordan, as he joins the GL corps and becomes partner of Sinestro, who slowly develops a respect for the rookie, much like the rest of the GL corp members as Hal helps them defeat Krona, the renegade guardian, and his army of Manhunters. The post credit scene would introduce John Stewart as lantern responsible for protecting Earth while Hal is out in space.
Justice League Secret Origin - It would have Martian Manhunter reuniting the heroes (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Barry Allen, John Stewart and Zatanna) to help him free his people from White Martians, who are planning to steal Earth's energy to save their planet and turn it into a paradise.
The final scene would have a Starro cameo, with the league showing up to stop them, revealing themselves as team for the first time to the public, with no one knowing about the heroes adventure in Mars, That's why the title is SECRET ORIGIN.
And of course, the post credit scene would set up Darkseid to be the big bad in the Justice League trilogy.

Hire Paul dini to be the new Kevin feige. Step number two soft reboot and hire another actor to play Flash you're going to have to have Ezra Miller be a variant and cut some of his things out. The new Flash actor will be the main Flash and hopefully Patterson would be there as Batman. You just tell the director hey man from the Batman you have nothing to do with our Justice League movies

If I was magically in charge and rebooting everything to make a cinematic universe it would be something along the lines of:
    Phase 1:
Batman: this batman would focus more on the detective side of things, we'd skip the origin, the joker would be around but not the main focus, maybe even open with batman capturing the joker (cause batman's role in the justice league will be the leader and the one who has years of experience), the main villain will be the riddler, think the batman but with batman actually beating the riddler at their own game by solving the riddles and doing detective work. Also in the process of solving this mystery batman uncovers something that might lead to a bigger conspiracy. Also in this film and other films brace Wayne scenes will also show them using their wealth to help the poor (that way you don't have the normal problem of rich guy beating up poor people rather than not helping them not be people).
Superman: I would play on the immigrant aspect of Superman, for that I'd cast a non white actor, have people unsure about were to trust them and also have Superman question if he should save the humans, as everytime he does there's always another problem and media (maybe run by lex Luther) keep making him out to be the bad guy, with Superman finding his reason to save people the hope that they can get better based off of people like his adoptive parents and Lois and Jimmy, etc. I don't think that the villains are that important to the plot.
Green lantern: space cop movie, hal Jordan either starts out already a green lantern or it gets covered very quickly, this will basically be the guardians of the galaxy of the cinematic universe, hal learns that he's mentor sinestro has made a yellow lantern ring (insert joke in the script about the obvious villain name and how did no one see it coming).
Flash: a young flash who is new to his powers has to fight captain cold and his team of villains, think a more light hearted goofy tone.
Wonder woman: basically the first film with two big changes, ares doesn't show up in the end (cause that was stupid) and the love interest doesn't die (yet).
Justice league: I'm thinking the main villain could be zod, first act is all the different characters piecing together that the invasion is coming (batman finding clues, green lantern being sent to investigate activites near earth, Barry has star labs researching something that detacts the invasion, etc), also we meet modern day wonder woman and she's retired and given up on humanity but is convinced to join the fight by the other heroes.
    Phase 2:
Batman 2: court of owls, batman has been looking more into the bigger mystery and eventually uncovers the court of owls and has to team up with the joker, who the owls captured, to uncover and stop their conspiracy.
Superman 2: due to zod's invasion lex Luther has continued to make the public distrust Superman but after putting his life in danger taking a kyptonite blast from metallo to protection a family live on camera (maybe ironically lex's news camera, also lex is behind the attack in the first place) Superman proves himself to the public.
Green lantern 2: other lantern corps are introduced in this story, with the main villains being the red lanterns.
Flash 2: reverse flash is the main villain
Wonder woman 2: set in the cold War her and her husband have been working with the government all through WW2 and onwards saving the world several times but on this mission to stop nuclear war Wonder woman is betrayed and her husband dies, this leaves her disillusioned with the human race as people would actually rather end the world over differences than find peace.
Aquaman: something like the first film, I'm not really knowledgeable about that character.
Martian man hunter: again nit super knowledgeable but they'd be cool to have.
Nightwing: introduce the character, maybe hint at their existence in the other two batman films. Basically him trying to find his own identity away from batman. Don't know much about their own rogues gallery so not sure who the villain would be. Also maybe use it to introduced some other teen titans, maybe beast boy and cyborg (who could be being experimented on).
Justice league 2: doomsday: basically the death of Superman story, all the characters introduced so far fight doomsday, lose and Superman defeats them but seemingly dies in the process but unlike in BvS we've spent time with this Superman so actually care when they die.
    Phase 3:
Supergirl: originally sent out with Clark to protect him she got sent off course and finds herself on earth only to find that the child she was supposed to protect has grown up and died saving the world, she now has to find her own purpose in life and figure out where she fits in with her new world.
Batman 3: the joker working with bane sets all of batman's rogues gallery loose on Gotham. Ends with the tired batman fighting bane completely unprepared and being broken and crippled.
Green lantern 3: war between the various lantern corps errupts and hal learns of the blackest night prophecy.
Teen titans: with Superman gone and the events of nightwings previous film, dick grayson forms the titans with starfire and raven joining the team
Zatana: not knowledgeable about the mystical side of DC but would be cool to introduced sone of those characters, you could have Constantine and doctor fate involved in the film, plus maybe raven.
Flash 3: the flash accidentally travels to another earth and meets a different flash
Wonder woman 3: now set in the present day Wonder woman now with her faith in humanity restored by the justice league has her own solo adventure.
Justice league 3: blackest night: everyone verses black lantern zombies, everyone ends up with different lantern rings and the discovery of the white lantern rings allows for Superman to return, this also leads to batman being healed. Also at the end Supergirl secretly still has a red lantern ring.
    Phase 4:
Superman 3: Superman finally has his confrontation with lex Luther who is now running for president. Also yes lex gets to wear his armoured suit.
Flashpoint: we all know this story. This also could be a way to recast any actors who want to leave at this point.
Batman 4: the killing joke, I probably won't have batman kill the joker himself but this will end with the joker dying (maybe have harley snap and kill him) and batman contemplating retirement.
Green lantern 4: this will cover red lantern Supergirl.
Batman beyond: it would be cool to see it in live action.
Justice league 4: darkseid or crisis, depends how well things are going, as crisis would be the end story.

I actually had a great discussion with my friends way before Marvel even hit phase 2 of their universe about some ideas DC/WB could take and run with very successfully, and I wanted to share one piece of that here- I think Blackest Night is actually a fantastic end goal to aim for a phase 3 position. It can offer so much to the screen that Marvel hasn't begun to touch on - permanent character deaths that can actually be meaningful to stories, which will get the extra weight of their reappearance bc we'll KNOW these characters, we'll be as invested as our heroes. The blip on marvels side of things created this really interesting, world shaping event that laid the foundation for the next generation of heroes, Blackest Night offers a similar yet marketably different sort of event, that also allows for exploration into the impact on the larger world or universe. I don't like going to Crisis stories bc there's simply too much going on, too many characters, too much comic nonsense to follow around. At best, we'll get something close to a Dr Strange 2 effect where we get exposed to lots of cool things and ideas but never get deep into them. I could honestly make a video explaining my thoughts on all this too bc I really feel comic fans and new fans alike would enjoy what my friends and I were suggesting, as long as there's unifying direction for the films over all then individual directors can be allowed to do character driven stories like Joker or The Batman, and I believe it would pay off dividends

Like like his hand was four stilettos and a thumb! Basically they were supposed to be crawl like weapons functionally, but even that was messed up because the blades were all Lateral with his hand. Like each finger's blade edge touched the other's blade edge except for the outside of the index and pinky fingers.

Funnily enough I personally find Superman and Batman to be two of the least compelling characters in the DC universe most of the time, but only because these two characters are just always WINNING at everything. Those stories where they show their emotions and where they struggle, that's what I want. Both of these characters have the capacity for great empathy and compassion. If they can show us these characters like that, then I think they'd have a solid foundation to build their own universe on. But if they can't make Batman and Superman compelling, then I don't think anything else they do afterwards will matter.

The only concern I'd have is just how difficult it is to humanize a character like Superman, as the sacrificed career of Brandon Routh can probably attest. That being said, I did like the approach that Warner Bros. had with introducing characters with the Justice League movie, and I think that if it worked for the general opinion of Aquaman or Flash, then that could be a way in for a Green Lantern as well.
Alternatively, I wonder if starting with a Justice League movie that already shows an already-formed league and ends with the heroes going their separate ways would work as well. It would show the landscape, who the heroes are, how they function, allow room for a villain that isn't universe-ending, and that sendoff could serve as a lead-in toward individual story arcs.

    • @Merione
      @Merione 2 роки тому

About humanizing Superman, here's my pitch in the context of a larger interconnected DC universe. It's a character arc that is meant to be built up over multiple movies. It's not perfect and it needs A LOT of work to smooth the edges, but it's just an example that came to mind while watching the video. Take it as a proof of concept, and sorry in advance for the long post.
Start with a couple of more "traditional" movies in which you just see Superman being Superman, saving people and beating bad guys with his unbelievable powers. These should be your typical superhero movies, with lots of action and fireworks, to captivate the audience. Then, you go to a smaller, more character-based movie in which Superman stars to learn how his actions are affecting the people of Earth, and specifically that humans are starting to rely on him to save them. Have a movie showing people who start acting carelessly and endangering themselves without thinking about the consequences of their actions, because they know that Superman will come and save them. Have him running around to save a bunch of people from dangers that they could have easily avoided if they had just put some thought before acting. And by the end of it Superman starts questioning whether his actions are actually helping people to grow and become the better version of themselves or if they're just becoming spoiled and weak. This concludes Act I.
At this point, and here you could have a connection to a larger DC universe, you start introducing a new mysterious threat. It could be anything, as long as it's something on the Justice League scale, big enough that Superman can't deal with it alone. This is the part with the most freedom when it comes to the plot, you could do anything you want, really. He meets the other heroes, interacts with them, maybe you could have some conflicts between them too (I truly want to see a GOOD Batman v. Superman movie...), have them fight some lesser bad guys, you name it. But at the same time keep building the core conflict within Superman, with people becoming more and more carefree and reckless, some even start worshiping him and call him to help with petty things like saving cats from tall trees or whatever, all because he keeps true to his morals and keeps helping them no matter what, sometimes even at the expense of himself and other benefits or greater good that he might want to achieve, and you show him becoming increasingly fatigued by all this. More often than not, this truly becomes an obstacle for him, actively getting in the way of his work as a superhero and tiring him both physically and emotionally. But eventually this big threat is gonna come, so the team is assembled and here Act II ends.
And finally, for Act III, you have the big finale: a couple of movies or even a trilogy of films just focused on all the heroes trying to stop this big threat, something like what they did with Infinity War and Endgame for the MCU. Here you have all your big crossovers, all heroes coming together for the biggest fight of all, and each one of them comes with their own struggles and character arcs that have been built in previous movies. And, in the middle of all this chaos, Superman finally breaks. He not only has to deal with the big bad guy with all the other heroes, but he also needs to worry about people who keep endangering themselves, who keep being irresponsible because they can't understand how heavy this pressure is becoming for him, with this increasingly bigger and bigger "expectation of being a superhero" that's been building from the start. He's visibly in trouble, he's about to be defeated and many of the people who had worshiped him as the greatest superhero of all are now turning on him as well. It's all going south for him very bad. But then (and the specifics here heavily depend on the context of the actual threat that he's facing), he realizes that being a superhero doesn't mean being a babysitter for the whole planet and his powers aren't meant as a substitute for people's own responsibilities and growth. He can't take this burden alone and starts asking those same people that he once helped to help him back. He becomes a leader, and people start following him. Sure, he and the other heroes of the Justice League are the superheroes, so they get to fight the big villains, but I imagine a scene in which he can rally everyone to do their part and they eventually win also because Superman was able to put aside his foolish need to always be present for everyone who's in danger and, by doing this, he empowered everyone else to take the opportunity to be a hero in their own way.
That's what I think Superman should be. He's already "Super"-man, he has nothing more to learn when it comes to becoming stronger or punching harder than before. If you try and create a story in which Superman is too "weak" to defeat a bad guy and so he needs to have some kind of "upgrade" by the end, then you've already destroyed the core idea of the character. He doesn't need to become any stronger than he already is. If anything, he needs to learn how to share this strength with others and empower them as well, and this could be one good way to do it.

    Wonder Woman
    The Flash
    Green Lantern
    Martian Manhunter
from there they get their own movies and set up other characters to introduce into the world. You can then lead up to crisis on infinite earth's and then introduce the multiverse. Then you can cast whoever you want as any character you want because all of it will be connected.

He also gave the star wars universe some rejuvenation when he dropped the Mandalorian, after the disappointment most of us felt from the last trilogy, where they made Luke Skywalker a mopey little twat instead of a Jedi badass. In my opinion Favreau has a knack for Directing and Producing these types of endeavors successfully in a way that us lifetime fans can really gravitate to. Nobody is perfect but this guy crushed it in two Major Franchises already. Couldn't hurt to see what he can do for DC.

Maybe alt reality, but “Brightest Night” would entail a last handful of White Lanterns fighting the entire universe of Black Lanterns (sort of a cosmic White Lanterns DCeased? But including aliens gives it an black/dead FLOOD type feel)
And Blackest Day would entail the Black Lanterns winning. Maybe once everything is black, some start evolving to something new. Maybe they get “infected” with white life energy somehow.

Outside of the "DCEU," I would love to have a Robin set of movies. The first Robin movie would be Dick on his last mission with Batman, wrestling with who he is, becoming Nightwing, and having a fight on his own. Jason being taken by the Joker, killed, and coming back as Red Hood. I don't know much about Tim. Then Damien's origin and him grappling with the League of Shadows but fighting alongside Batman. Then, for the final movie, they all come together and fight someone, or a group.

Rebooting on paper sounds good, but it also could be A poor move to make. What if Aquaman 2 and Black Adam make huge amounts of money. You also got Batgirl coming from the pepole who are making Ms. Marvel and you got Blue Beatle. Rebooting could backfire on them.

    What I would do is:
    1. Cancel every upcoming DCEU movie. Like, all of them. Black Adam, The Flash, Shazam 2 (which I was actually a background extra in, but oh well), Aquaman 2, and Batgirl.
    2. Use The Batman as a jumping-off point, and prioritize Superman and Green Lantern projects set within that universe.
    3. After Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern, reboot Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Maybe make Shazam an HBO Max show.
    4. After a lot of heroes have been introduced and fleshed out, THEN do the Justice League. And try to make it feel bigger than the Avengers.
    5. Make sure every franchise has a distinct tone and feel. Batman is dark and gritty. Superman is bright and hopeful. Green Lantern is big and epic, like Star Wars. Aquaman and Wonder Woman have strong fantasy elements. Shazam is pretty much just a comedy. That's it. You can have all these characters share a universe, AND have distinctions that separate them from everyone else.

If I had to fix DC I would start with a reboot. Personally I love Batfleck so I'd bring him back, but if I couldn't bring him back then I'd go with Year 1 Batman. Superman, I'd pull from All-Star Superman, Michael Bendis Superman run to showcase Superman just handling everyday problems in the blink of an eye, and I'd include braniac as the villain which would also introduce Supergirl. Wonder Woman I'd pull from the 1st movie and part of geoff johns and Greg ruccka stories. Cyborg can done correctly could be good, but I'd pull from the Teen Titans show and make him more accepting of how he is instead of writing him like a tormented character.
The flash needs to be light hearted fun too.
Aquaman I'd pull from rebirth, and I would do john Stewart green lantern.

Exactly. Superman has had similar arcs, although his stories aren’t always just US based but also humanity as a whole.

Aquaman rises from the sea like a god and marches to the UN. He's causing mayhem and people think he's a villain.
People call Supes. And they fight.
After a while, S realizes that A just wants people to stop destroying his domain, so they team together against the UN to reduce Ocean pollution and/or pay damages.
There's some kind of other threat that they team up to stop. And it ends with them becoming friends and Lex Luthor profiting off of the entire situation. Maybe the movie ends with him becoming president thanks to the B plot

Good video but that's only part of the problem. Honestly, even if comic writers crafted DCEU the results will be the same. The problem is DC comics and their obsession with Batman and Superman. Everything revolves around them and their side kicks or their villains. An article even called DC comics, "Batman comics" because they counted total over 20 comics tied to batman and his family villains (32 batman and batman related comics if memory served me right). Its monotonous and boring. It's thr reason DC comics had lay off half their staff last year. This carries over into movie theaters.... How many times are we going to hear the same batman and the sams villains told over and over again in movie theaters.
By the way, that last batman movie was not great. It was OK. A friend of mine was so irritated at the film that he swore he would never go to another batman movie again 🤣😂. It's the same story line being redressed. The only reason it did well is because of its staunch fan base it (franchise) is not really gaining any new fans.
DC comics need to develop little known or new characters like Marvel do (ie guardians of the galaxy, even iron man etc now the new wonderman coming up) . Characters not tied to or better yet with little ties to batman or superman or even flash. Peacemaker was a good start look at how phenomenal it did.

WB should reboot completely, or maybe just start off with Robert Pattinson’s Batman, but the new DCEU needs its own Feige, like Bruce Tim and/or Paul Dini to decide the shape the new DCEU takes. It needs to be story-driven not on what a director wants to do.
WB also need to stop creating multiple movies of the same character played by different actors, all it does is divide fans and gives them a reason to complain.
