Blind Guardian has a grown fan base for more than 2 decades in Germany/Europe and they always made the crowd be part of their song ...so that is the result.
It was so much fun. Thank you for watching.
If i remember correctly, they have their 40th anniversary in the next few years
At least 3 decades ago...I bought their 1990 album Tales from the Twilight World...and I know many did it too, at least in Europe (we know metal)
Saw a react to The Bard's Song & Valhalla and instantly hit the thumbs up. Greetings from germany (of course ;) )
Thank you so much!
Instant thumbs up, as I suggested them a few weeks ago ^^ And you even call me by name :-D They are from the german town of Krefeld and are a staple of german metal for over 30 years... fun fact: You can measure how good a live concert of them was by The Bards Song... the less Hansi sings himself, the better was the concert. Just saw them last year on their 30 year "Somewhere Far Beyond Album" anniversary tour, and it was just epic!
EDIT: I also hoped that you would pick this video when I suggested them for the double dose of BG... Every band has that one special song, and for BG, it is the Bard´s Song... and with Valhalla following right after that, you get a dose of what they usually sound like.
I´d love to suggest another german band to you.... FEUERSCHWANZ (=translated Fire Tail, and I am not sure if this band name is meant in an explicit way or not)... They usually do comedy medieval metal and most of their songs are in german, but they recently released a CD with cover songs, but in their very own, special music style... the music video that lead to this CD "Die Sieben Todsünden" (=The Seven Deadly Sins) was a cover of Manowar- Warriors Of The World, abd I would love you to react to that one... ua-cam.com/video/-rKOoM7S6mw/v-deo.html
We could tell the crowd loved them and both of these songs.
Thank you for watching and for this suggestion. We have added it to our list.
@@Ossey1976Yes, their band name is absolutely meant in a explicit way. Just research what the bands members call themselves and there's no doubt that everything is meant absolutely explicit.😂
here be what hansi be sayin
Before the song:
Crowd: 'Guardian! Guardian! Guardian!...'
Hansi: We're always happy to soak up the Wacken experience. [Crowd: 'Guardian! Guardian!...] I would love to let you shout for longer, unfortunately we have little time left. Of course we want to spend that with music. I think, most of you will know what's next. [crowd cheers] Has been legendary here many times. I feel like you will top this today. [now english:] Let's sing the Bard's song (in the forest)
Between the two songs:
Hansi: [english]: 'You're fucking crazy!!!' [switching to german:] 'Wacken, I hardly dare to say: You are even more awesome than usual! We had a great time up here, we always enjoyed coming to Wacken. At some point it's time to move on. This time is now. We'll see each other somewhere.' [switching to english:] 'Let's get crazy for one last time!'
After Valhalla, commenting on the crowd singing and clapping: 'Looks great, sounds great. I think Magnus [guitarist] has worked enough, we can now put Frederik [drummer] into play. Therefore, you should turn your volume up [lmeaning: sing louder]!' [Crowd keeps singing 'Valhalla' to the drums]
[Getting really hard to understand at this point] 'Keep going, yes [...] give me everything [...] mega [...] the last three [...] now, again [...] sing/knock us off the stage"
ya gotta love a 80,000 person sing along
Thank you for sharing all this wonderful information.
The crowd was actually chanting "Guardian" - it has a better cadence than the whole name. You should check out "Violent Shadows" (one of their newest songs)
Also - if you haven't heard a new group called Jelusick, you are missing out. "Reign of Vultures" is a good place to start
Thank you for watching and for these suggestions. We have added them to our list.
I'm glad you lik it.
At the age of six Blind Guardian was my introduction into metal. My father was a fan of Blind Guardian himself and since I've always been a sucker for any fantasy stuff I instantly loved it.
The song was "Mirror Mirror". Together with The Bard's Song and Valhalla it's one of BG's three signature songs.
It's quite different from those since its from their concept album "Nightfall in Middle Earth" which was a masterpiece itself. Their albums always had magical sound to them but this one's still absolutely different.
Sadly their former drummer Thomen (the Omen) left the band several years ago. Since then their newer songs are missing the magic I loved in their music. Even though Frederik is an amazing drummer as well Thomens cymbal work was outstanding.
You should check out his playthrough of "Thorn" on his own channel. No need for a reaction. Just check it out and feel the magic.
For a reaction I recommend to you the above mentioned song "Mirror Mirror".
And now to another topic.
I'd like to introduce you to some German power metal bands.
Even though I listen to a lot of stuff, power metal from Germany is somewhat special. Especially the big choruses are usually remarkable.
Here are some suggestions:
Orden Ogan - Gunman (2017 - the definition of "a big chorus")
Helloween - Forever and One (1996)
Rage - Back in Time (1999)
Gamma Ray - Valley of the Kings (1997)
Powerwolf - My Will Be Done (2022)
Avantasia - The Scarecrow (2008)
Yes, thats a lot... I'm sorry.😅
That is a lot, but no need to apologize. Thank you for the information and the suggestions. We have added them to our list.
Sacred worlds, And then there was silence , Nightfall are also great Live performances. I believe I was 15 or 16 first hearing this band back in the 80`s and although there were weaker albums in all those years they are still my favourite german metal band by far to this day!
Thank you for watching, commenting, and for the recommendation. We have added them to our list.
Guardians and Wacken...a Livelong Love Story.....in fact, the Bard's Song became the official Hymn of Wacken over the Years.....more than 30 Years Wacken now with about 95 .000 every Year!...Our German Heroes !
Thank you for watching and for your comments.
BG has been my favourite band for decades. Long live the bards.
Thank you for watching
Great reaction. Greetings from Germany. 😊
Thank you so much!
I just suggested this to another channel...but glad you picked it up! I do recommend checking out the band's original video for The Bard's Song (a Bard, being a musician/poet/actor/entertainer of Medieval times) it's almost an acoustic performance...but you'd be able to hear the words clearly.
And Valhalla, being, basicically, Viking Heaven...what a catchy song!
Blind Guardian have been around for decades...but I'm not sure if they sing exclusively in English, or some in their native German. Their lead singer, Hansi, can be heard as a guest singer in the super group, Ayreon (singing with Nightwish's Marko Hietala ) on the song, River Of Time (remastered video for that on Music From The Heart channel)!
Thanks, Amy, for this information and for these suggestions. I have added them to my list.
Was there that faithful night in 2016 at Wacken. It was epic. While leaving for the camp ground Vallhala was heard all over the area. Can't wait to attend Wacken 2024 where Blind Guardian is once more one of the headliners. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you for watching and sharing your personal story. Very cool.
Like the Bard's Song and love the crowd singing it.
We certainly enjoyed it
Blind Guardian - Traveler In Time live pls
Thank you for watching and for the suggestion. We have added it to our list.
Oh yes ! Traveller in time live is amazing !! My favotite!
Great reaction :) was living in the US south for a year, loved Tennessee. Stay happy adn healthy, best regards from Germany
Thank you for watching and for the encouragement.
Guardian was founded in the 84 as Lucifers heritage, they changed their name in the early 88 with the release of their first Album "Battalions of Fear". Of the original members only Andre Olbrich (Lead Guitar) and Hansi Kürsch (Vocals, on the early albums bass aswell) are left, although Markus Siepen (Rhythm Guitar) has been around since 87.
They are one of the first Powermetal Bands, having been founded the same year as Helloween who are considered founders of the genre (as they released their first album in 85, while guardian took 3 more years for their first album).
They changed styles quite drastically through the decades, starting close to speed metal and transitioning more and more to symphonic metal, culminating in a full orchestral album in cooperation with the Prague Symphonic Orchestra, called "Legacy of the Darklands"
They commonly include pop culture in their songs. Violent Shadows is influenced by Brandon Sandersons Stormlight Archives, American Gods is influenced by Neil Gaimans American Gods (obviously) and the album "Nightfall in Middleearth" is a full on Lord of the Rings album, albeit they included LotR already in their first album with the song "Majesty"
They are my favourite Band, i saw them twice last year, once at the Summerbreeze Open Air where they were followed by Heaven Shall Burn, a Metalcore band who are nearly as old as Blind Guardian and have famously covered Valhalla, the crowd continued singing Valhalla for an hour, as it was the closing song, in the hopes that Heaven Shall burn would open up with their cover. (They didnt, but Marcus, the singer, came out ahead of the concert and sang along with the crowd for a bit).
There obv. are also sum smaller controversies, for example Hansi had a project "Demons and Wizards" together with Jon Schaeffer of Iced Earth, the project was promptly when with Schaeffer was part of the 6. January capitol attack, last year. (I should make it clear that Blind Guardian and Hansi have distanced themselves quite clearly afterwards, so did Iced Earth who kicked Schaeffer out of the Band)
I can give more info, afterall, i really like them, but i already info dumped more than was asked for.
Thank you for watching and for share all this great info.
They've been defibrillating me in bad times since about 1998. I'm thankful for them. If you like JRR Tolkien's works, you'll find a lot to like here.
Thank you for watching and for your (very interesting) comment.
Just a small correction: They were actuallu yelling "Guardian! Guardian!", not the name of the second song.
Thank you so much for helping us out with this correction. And thank you for watching.
Blind Guardian is a German metal band from Krefeld and Meerbusch, formed in 1984.
Thank you for watching and for sharing this information.
I'll never forget hearing blind Guardian on a Festival. Or rather not hearing them, because they couldnt make it in time. To fill the slot the crow sang their songs without a band anyways
Thank you for watching and for sharing this experience. It had to be a disappointment.
thanks , very nice
Thank you for watching and commenting.

Thank you for this suggestion. We have added it to our list.
Easily one of the best live band ever.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
AGREE!
the bards song is just one of ther oldest hymns they allways do those two songs as finishers they are just awesome songs and some times the crowd wont stop singing for minutes
That has to be so much fun. Thank you for sharing this with us.
@@grandparentsreact it is i had this experiance multiple times and i still enjoy it
Hansi Kürsch are one of the best live metal singers Ive heard.
Great band, great reaction.

Hallo from Germany
Well, Hey! Thank you for watching with us.
Hi! Great reaction! 👍🏻 I would recommend to place your display a little higher. Right now it seems like you have your eyes closed all the time. 😉
Have a nice day! Greetings from germany! ✌🏻
That is a good idea. We will plan to implement that going forward, but we do have videos completed that are scheduled 30 days out, so it may take awhile before you see the change. Thank you so much for watching and for the helpful tip.
@@grandparentsreact My pleasure! 👍🏻 30 days!? Wow, you are hard-working out there! 🙂
@@pallmall1991 Sometimes we have to file a dispute (an application for release of copyright restrictions) and the holder had 30 days to respond. On those, we set them 30 days out to go live. We are working hard and currently have 2 videos a day scheduled for the next two weeks.
@@grandparentsreact I see! That's a lot!!! Respect! I hope it pays off in some ways! 🙂
somebody check grandpa's pulse to see if he's still alive, like 0 reaction
You have both of us laughing over here. LOL.
If you want to hear something different from the Metal genre, try "Null Positiv - Wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer!" It's in German, but I think the voice of Eli Berlin alone is worth listening to this! It's not typical Metal, but more of a Metal ballad!
Thank you for watching and for this suggestion. We have added it to our list.
