When I put my b20vtec together I had a hard time with the timing. I’ll have to try this way next time. Seems like my valve springs are too stiff because every time I’d rotate the engine the belt would pop off. I ended up using a small pry bar on the tensioner to keep it tight enough so it wouldn’t jump although I’m sure that’s not the ideal way to do it.
Great video. I have a b18c honda motor im working on. I was changing the belt and installing a aftermarket harmonic balancer on the gearshaft. I didn’t have a problem lining up the cams, however, as i was installing the harmonic balancer, With the belt removed, I believe I may have moved the TDC of the main crankshaft off of its center. I cannot view the marks of the main crank because the aftermarket harmonic balancer now covers it and its far too difficult to remove now. I was planning on putting a stick in the spark plug hole to find dead center as it raises up upon moving the crankshaft, but I was concerned that the valves would be affected, so i removed the cams from its journals to avoid any valves from being bent and now im planning on turning the crankshaft (counter clockwise) measuring TDC of the camshaft in order to get it TDC. Question - Am I correct to assume that it’s important to get my maincrankshaft on TDC ? And if so, am I doing it correctly? Thanks. Any help is appreciated.
are u damaging the valves moving the cam like that???? please let me know i have a h series and mine jumped time need to know if i can rotate the cams safely
I spent 3 days trying to line up my lsvtec timing no matter what I did still is 1/2 tooth off.and I've timed a bunch of b series engines i finally gave up lol

Worth a shot!
Depending on what what head u use is gonna determine the exact timing belt part.. Not all B series have same length. Remember that
Its cool how you use the standard tools mostly when fixing coz most of us dont got the fancy ones
That's why I post this stuff!
U can take a honda motor out with just a handful of tools if u kno.

No, you'd feel it hit if you're turning by hand
@@hondaresource what do you mean, Got a h series was worried about moving cams,
Do you need to remove the valve cover ?
I would.
@@hondaresource I already have exposed cams so I was wondering
@@gotleche1894 it's much easier with the cover off
B18c1 I had to replace my distributor . How can I make sure I’m close.
I normally just put it about half way in the bolt slot
Thank you sir. I’m at TDC. So should I move it?
Hey does ur setup smoke im having smoking issues with my i ran new return lines an clocked the drain straight down.
It did a little because of the ring gap
Any way to set my dizzy timing up? B18c1
You will need a timing light to properly set it up
What did you use to take off the crank bolt! I cannot get it to budge. I don’t have air compressor. TIA
I use a Lisle weighted socket and a Milwaukee electric impact, but you can rent a crank pulley holder from the parts store.
How much would that cost someone? Engine is on a stand as well as Already have the timing kit with valve cover and harmonic balancer removed
$20😂
@@hondaresource appreciate it 😂 googles price had me buying someone a new set of enkei rpf1’s
If anyone tells you more than $100 they are getting you man.
@@hondaresource thanks for the info, it’s hard to find info sometimes. I just need to find someone in my area now, again appreciate it

Probably needed a water pump swap
@@JoseRodriguez-et6eu water pump is gsr and brand new when belt was installed
Wrong belt used.. Ls, gsr and Typer/b16 have different tooth count
I used gsr everything Acura oem parts.I ended up fixing it with adjustable cam gears
@@vtecsk8r yep, same here.
I replaced my distributor. How can I get it close without a liggt
Center it in the adjustment slot
