Same here that’s why I wanted one so bad! With that said, if the price was the same I would chose the c7 but since the c6 is cheaper it is the better “bang for the buck”
If given the money? The C7 for sure. Just a better driver for everyday use. But if I were on a budget, the C6Z can't be beat for what it delivers. Besides, the C6Z has been a personal favorite of mine since its release. Just wish I had one is all.....some day perhaps.
I'm a C6 guy. When it comes to electronic nannies less is more. My opinion the C6 has the best of old school and the best of new school without getting too far into either category.

Yes I have been trying to describe the c6 experience and this is well put.
The aluminum frame C6 's are truly special.
A light weight, hydraulic power steering and MPI fuel system.. A huge plus on C6.
I wish C7 had those advantages.
Having your cameraman buddy come in and share his point of view is gold. Having someone who’s never been in a c7 going straight into after the c6 to give a unbiased pov of the differences they notice can’t be overstated.
I totally agree. I try to give different points of view often and his was definitely awesome to have on hand!
Having driven your C6 Z and my C7 Z I definitely prefer the C7. I really like the C6 but I felt like it lacked that instant power. The interior being older was also a factor for me. But I still loved it.

C6Z is a truly timeless design; perfect balance of muscle & beauty. The seats & tech can be upgraded for reasonable $ 3LZ level = More leather. No better value on the planet!
Agreed. The aftermarket available for the C6 is the biggest reason why I grabbed one. A lot of my complaints with it are easily fixed.

Wasn't aware the C6 offered a camera at all. Easy fix either an aftermarket receiver, even a forward camera. The C6 Ls7 just needs the valve guides addressed. Or go HCI and 390 gears. No surging from big boy cam and more instant power over the stock gears. Easily get 600whp and be in the high 9s once the driver mod catches up.
I've got a C5Z and a C7Z 14 years apart, both very different cars of course, both are fun to drive. The real complaint for me on the C5Z is the seats, not very comfortable compared to the C7Z. Of course the C7Z is more refined, handles excellent. I highly recommend the C7Z.

1st thing I noticed and tell anyone who asks is the difference between the two is like The Flintstones and Jetsons.
The technology of the Z06 is amazing and it's a beast and a true race car.....insanely powerful and fast!

@@bluevette2230 I’m a owner of 2012 GS, obviously I’m going to say the C6 generation is my favorite. I’ve driven a couple of C7 (Stingray, Grandsport) they are very nice with the new interior and modern tech touches. But the C6 GS is by far the best bang for the buck, you get everything in it that a true sports car offers for less money. That fat rear end and the gill air vent on the side is just awesome. The removable top is the jewel of the GS , I get it’ that people talking about the power and performance of the Z06 and the ZR1, definitely impressive if that’s your thing. But the C6 GS looks way better than the base C7. I get so many compliments when I’m out in my GS , more than when I drive the C7’s That’s important to me is the daily appreciation and compliments i get. Honestly though, I’m a Corvette guy, all the generations are great.I hate that we have to debate the best generations Corvettes are special, and the C6 GS is definitely a special model with whatever trim level you get.
I bought an 08 C6 convertible and some of the first mods I've done are the intake and a revesol steering wheel. I have a full kooks 1.875 long tube headers with X pipe and corsa sport mufflers with 4.5" quad tips that Just need to be cerakoted and installed, a ceramic coated elite engineering 3/8" exhaust tunnel plate to help with the heat soak and to stiffen up the car, along with some heat barrier I'm going to have put all around the torque tube area. Then it'll be off for a tune. Can't beat paying under 30k for as much car you get with a C6, plus you still get round taillights too! 😂

I recently drove a c6 grand sport and a c7 stingray. The c6 to me felt more like a pure sports car and the c7 more like a grand tourer.
The C6 Z06 is such a perfect car. The 427 LS7 paired with a manual and lightweight just screams perfect. I have a 2019 C7 Grand Sport and although not perfect definitely has a great powerband with refinement and balance. Not the fastest but no slouch by any means. The LT1 is a blast to drive hard or just for cruising with the roof off.
The C6 Zs Achilles heel is the valve drop issue which will never make it the perfect Vette

If you get a C6 Z06 with a 4lt package you get a vastly improved interior.

I've been told by a very good friend who races and is an instructor, that the C6 ZO6 is the most visceral Vette he's ever driven. It's a true driver's car in that it has none of the nannies that the C7 and C8 have. He has an '06 w/150k on it and still takes it to the track.
As to your C6, it still has the factory dual-mode exhaust, doesn't it?

All C6 Z06s have the dual mode exhaust. You can pull the fuse or get the Mild to Wild controller to regulate.

I think my main concerns with the C6 Z06 would still be present in the C6 ZR1.

Man.... idk I was a c6 guy my whole adult life since they first rolled off the line. As first I hated the c7. But it grew on me. I'm finally financially ready to buy one. (I despise payments so I put back a car payment every year for the last 8yrs for one. The value dropped alot recently... so now I can afford to buy a c7 z06 cash... so... idk what I want now

The 8 speed auto was the "better" of the 2.
The C6 Z06 was, and still is, a more track worthy vehicle than the C7 ZR1. True, the ZR1 has all the power in the world, sticky tires, stiff suspension, etc. It'd still be more troublesome around a track than the older C6Z. You do have to take some sacrifices between the two though. In order to truly get a good comparison between these two is to take them to your local track and see just what both of them can do while at the limit. I'd love to see that actually. Great video though, lots of good info there.

The C7 ZR1 will demolish the C6 Z06, the C7 ZR1 is the second fastest production car around VIR.
@@gaddyify Wrong, it's not always about power. Even the C6 ZR1 wasn't any faster around a track then a Z06 C6, only advantage was top speed.
what type of transmission the C6 generation has when it comes to the manual, I know C7 has Tremec but what about the C6 gen.
Depends on the year, they all have Tremec btw. The 06-07 had the T56 trans while the 08-13 got the TR6060 (which carried over to the C7 btw).

@@z-ra Yes indeed. They added a 7th gear to the C7 but the overall trans is still the same. GM wanted the extra gear for highway cruising so the new LT1/LT4/LT5 could turn a lower RPM for mileage reasons.

It feels a tad tighter in the C7 but nothing serious.
C6 is like a recliner with foot room for a 10' human. It's actually crazy! I'm 6'2 and have never had so much foot room. Telescopic steering wheel helps this out immensely.

There’s about 150k difference in the price
C7 z06 to C6 z06 is about 20k to 25k right now.
The late model 2012/13 c6 interiors with the leather wrapped interior and updated steering wheel and seats will age better than a c7 interior. c7 is trying to hard to be luxurious and has some chinsy areas that will not age well. Yes the later years c6s weigh like 50 lbs more but still much lighter than the c7s. the zr1 is pushing 3600lbs lol
That being said, the c7s biggest advantage is the stiffer frame for sure and the e-lsd is unreal at keeping the car straight.
I’ll disagree with you on that one… the c6 interior layout in general is nothing special and doesn’t have much that sets it apart from the other GM interiors from that era

Not everyone wants a lot of distractions while enjoying a beautiful experience driving,

I think you have ls your mid saying the C7 is more “ferrariesqeu” than te C6. Ave you ever seen a Ferrari? Ferraris ave smooth gradual body lines. Ferraris are art. I prefer the C6 because resembles a Ferrari more. The C7 is all chopped up and way too aggressive looking. More like a Lamborghini and I despise Lamborghinis. I am a Ferrari and McLaren guy.
LS7 is the King of all! You can’t compare that analog beast to any other Corvette, not even C8 Z06. It’s just a McLaren F1 for America. Who knows how to drive will definitely agree with me, and for all the rest, there’s plenty of other cars out there you can choose from, and let that car drive by it self without having you involved. No hard feelings but if you don’t agree just go and check out one of the C6 Z06 in your area.
Just make sure to have heads upgraded. Way way to many broken valves, engines destroyed. Should have been a recall!

Absolutely love my C6 ZO6, you can pull a fuse to make the exhaust louder. Also 65mph in 6th gear 1350 rpm and aprox 31mpg.
Check out "mild to wild" kit for C6 Z06. You can remotely open/close two butterfly exhaust ports when you like. Be a hoon, pick up wife and chill by click of a button. Cheap and easy :-)
The C6 Z06 is the Raw Driver's car. Analog, legroom, and Naturally Aspirated. Only need seats.
Didn't know that the C6 Z06 was also a fixed roof. I knew about the C5 Z06. Interesting
In 06-07 GM had a recall on roof. Lamination would fail and roof skin would fly off at around 100 mph. Doah! So if you buy one ensure it was repaired.
I still dont understand why no one isnt posting the FACT the Z06 with the Z07 package is faster than GT3 and Lamborghini Huracan STO, and both are track focused cars. This is huge news that we have lap times to compare the cars. So many You Tubers were completely wrong about this car that its almost funny. I didnt even expect it to perform this well. The info is there on fast laps Monticello North course, and its weird there seems to be a embargo on info already there.
Their were several upgrades by 2012/13 in the C6 that you missed, example wheel size, lights, etc.

@@HorsePowerObsessed 2012, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 gets a new seat design with larger side bolsters, along with a new steering wheel and extra padding in the armrests. A new nine-speaker Bose sound system is added to the available features list, along with several customization options. The Z06 can now be had with the ZR1's Performance Traction Management system, while both models are offered with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires for improved handling. Tire wheel-285/20/ZR19 (front) and massive 325/25/ZR20 (rear) Cup tires are barely DOT legal. Head lights are HID.
Headlights were always hid but that’s cool about the wheel size being different later on.

This video is so bais.... As I thought it would be, say couple positive things about the C6, but more so bashing it...
But because I own a C7, I'm going to put it on Mt. Rushmore, not to mention it's. Zr1 compared to a C6 ZO6... SMH
Both cars are GREAT cars, for their TIMES, it's as simple as that, no need to bash one just because it's older, one day that C7 zr1 is going to be a thing of the pass too, remember that
I own both of these cars so I’m definitely it “bashing” either of them. They are both awesome cars and for the difference in price the c6 is the best bag for the buck which I talked about in a previous video.
I agree also, this video is so bias for the C7. The C6 is a great corvette, and the upgrades are expected in the next generation. What person can’t see and expect better technology in new models regardless of any vehicle. All corvette’s are beautiful and designed and performed for the generation that they were built. Why knock the previous generation. It’s a pointless video to show of something about upgrades that most people would know and expect. Their both awesome corvettes and so was all the other generations. Video was too bias!

It’s always some joker bashing the previous generation, the newer generation is expected to have better upgrades and technology, that doesn’t mean one should devalue the older generation. I find criticism of the past generations so lame and unnecessary. There’s never going to be the best, not if mankind has anything to do with it.
