You are a legend.. I was looking for my old halo books on the shelf and I had left them all leaning instead of standing straight.. resulting in warped books.. your method worked like a charm🥲 the crazy part is I just bought a heat gun a few days ago. Thank you so much for your video I thought my books were ruined🤟🤟
thanks for the tip. this worked for me using a regular living room heater. I cranked it up to max heating and held the books over for about 15 seconds.
I just tried a similar method on a bunch of warped paperbacks I own, after all it's just a matter of melting the glue and flattening the spine out, but will this method also repair spots where the spine cracked and is just completely bent out of shape? I've got a 50 year old Dune paperback and I was surprised because the glue took a long time to brighten up and become malleable, but I'm not sure if this is gonna help the spots where it's broken or where pages have come loose. btw, great choice of paperback. started reading Clive Cussler's novels with Raise the Titanic and already I'm hooked on pacific vortex and atlantis found.
Yes it's worth it to repair a $5 book for a few cents of electricity. People collect paperbacks even if they are less durable, and some have sentimental value. I found a lot like this from my father in a box. It's satisfying to fix them so they look good on your shelf and are more comfortable to read.

Does it work as well with a hairdryer?
Actually i don’t know, i’ve never tried it before but hairdryer might be powerless to melt the spine glue.
Yes, it does but it takes longer. Much longer.
four hundred celcius are you fucking kidding me?
Just subbed and Liked!👈🏼👍🏻💪
Unfortunately, there is also a big risk that leaves might become loose. I don't think this is worth the effort, especially on cheap trade paperbacks
Lol. I know I'm late to the party...but you're late to the party
@@pollatix Still useful imo for anyone seeing this and trying to replicate it
the book is worth to waste so much electric energie? i would rebind the book to a hard cover. but all in all ... thanks for that tipp.
