Put the belt around the motor pulley & the tensioner pulley will apply the tension needed for the belt once u release the tension pulley. Thanks for watching Luis 👍
Sounds like the interlock switch is bad. It's the little black switch that the pulley arm pushes against when the belt has tension on it. If that switch is bad, it doesn't allow power to go to the motor. You would have to take the belt back off, pull the drum out, & look down at the bottom left side of the dryer cabinet about half way back or so. (The black pulley arm has the white pulley on it that you put the belt around when you installed the new belt). Once you see that switch down there along the edge of the cabinet move the pulley arm back & forth & listen closely to see if you hear a clicking sound when you move the pulley back & forth. If you don't, then you will have to test the switch. Put your meter on continuity & remove the wire connectors on each end of the switch & put your meter leads on each end. When you push the pulley arm to the left the meter should beep with continuity. If it doesn't then the switch is bad & you will need a new one. Hope that all helps. @@ApartmentMaintenance THIS looks like the solution to my problem.. just changed the belt, and now the dryer turns the drum and lights the fire while I hold the button, but stops when I let go. Thanks man!
@@steve66oh You could have a bad interlock switch. It's a separate part down now the idler arm that can be tested with a multimeter. Thanks for watching Steve660h 🛠️👍
Then it could be the start switch or the interlock switch. So your saying when you press start it will act like it wants to start then it shuts right off once you let go of the button? Try holding the start button in & see if it stays on until you let go of the start button. If it's not the start switch then it could be the interlock switch which is a switch the idler arm pressing in at the bottom of the dryer on the inside. Thanks for watching Sena's & subscribe to the channel 👍
Are you referring to the 30 amp fuse on the dryer itself? If so, the fuse you referenced in your comment is not the correct fuse for the dryer. Thanks for watching Digitalonlinebusiness & Subscribe to the channel 👍
There's an interlock switch at the bottom of the dryer so when there's tension on pulley from the belt it keeps the switch pressed in which closes the circuit & allows the electricity to flow through to everything. Once the belt breaks the pulley loses tension & is no longer pressing the switch in. Thanks for watching TheCheesBurgler & subscribe to the channel if you're not already 🛠️👍

Pushed door switch and hit start and the drum doesn't turn. Pulled the top off and find the belt is still in place. Any idea what else could cause this?
I would make sure the breaker isn't tripped & if it's good I would then unplug the dryer & check the fuse on the back of the dryer. There is a white 30amp fuse behind the cover where the power cord hooks up to the dryer. Set your meter to continuity & see if it rings out on each end of the fuse. If that's good, I would check the start switch & then the interlock switch which is down at the bottom of the dryer at the idler arm. You would have to remove the drum to check the interlock switch. Thanks for watching Vince & Subscribe to the channel if your not already. 👍
Sounds like it's the interlock switch down at the idler pulley. You will have to test for continuity on that part. Thanks for watching Jake & subscribe to the channel 👍
@@ApartmentMaintenance thanks ill check that out in the am, just had to pull my old ge he sensor dryer out of the basement and it hasn't run in about 3 years. When we moved into this house it had kenmore he3 washer and dryer and the circuit board crapped the bed on the dryer, good ole F01 error code.
My wire that feeds the pulley safety switch shorted when it got knocked off now it won’t work at all. It toasted something maybe the start switch or the temp sensor thing but for whatever reason the start has no power. Now I’ll have to go buy a dryer. I went in for a belt and the tensioner got knocked loose then knocked the switch wire loose and didn’t even realize it till I tried to use it. Now I’m probably fd.
It probably just blew the fuse on the back of the dryer. Unplug the dryer & take the cover off on the back of the dryer where the cord wires in. There is a white fuse right beside the terminal block where the cord is wired in. Thanks for watching whatfreedom7 & subscribe to the channel 👍
While your holding the small white button in, press the start button and hold it in while continuing to hold the white button in. You have to hold the white button first, then press the start button and watch the drum. Thanks for watching Elise & subscribe to the channel 👍
it could be the interlock switch which is a switch the idler arm pressing in at the bottom of the dryer on the inside. The idler arm keeps tension on the belt. There’s a switch at the bottom (on the floor of the dryer).
If the belt is fine that means the drum would be turning when you do the test with the door open & while holding the door switch in press the start button. That means you have a different problem than the belt. Which could be a few things but I would check the interlock switch first. It's the switch the pulley arm presses against to complete a circuit. If that switch is bad you will have the same issue but see the drum turning while doing the door switch test I mentioned. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching SnigglesOSG & Subscribe to the channel 👍
It could be the start switch, the interlock switch, or a bad motor. The interlock switch is located at the bottom right of the dryer. The idler pulley arm pushes the switch in when the belt is installed. If that switch is bad it will cut off as soon as you let go of the switch. Hope that helps. @@kelvinjasper1435 Did you check the interlock switch? It's the switch the pulley arm presses against. If that is bad it will shut off once you let go of the start button.
Our dryer has a similar problem, but it is the switch. If we pull the switch out a bit, then push it back in, it works again. We had an old gas dryer that lasted over 40 years with a single cheap to replace part that wen out a couple years ago. It worked great, but we had to replace it when we moved into a house with no gas hookup for the dryer. $500 for a new GE pile of crap that is extremely flimsy and is having problems after a single year. China has ruined everything.
They don't make them like they used to that's for sure! Made only to last a few years so we buy new! Thanks for watching MAGA MAN & Subscribe to the channel 👍
Check the interlock switch for continuity, it's inside the dryer at the bottom left side. The idler arm pushes the switch in to close the circuit when the belt has tension on it. If that switch is bad or if the idler arm isn't pushing the switch in, the same thing will happen as your describing. Thanks for watching Joshua & Subscribe to the channel 👍
Based on my knowledge of electronics, I would say that this video is not correct and does not make sense! I have a GE gas dryer with the problem that it won't stay on, and a believe it is caused by a faulty timer module! I will replace the timer module with the one from my identical GE dryer that I use for spare parts, and then I will post an update as to whether the problem was solved.
Update #1: Replacing the timer had no effect. I will now replace the "door safety switch". Update #2: Replacing the Door Switch had no effect. I will now look for other sensor switches.
@@ApartmentMaintenance Update #3: I don't know what happened, but a day or two after my original posts, the problem seems to have resolved itself. That's a good thing because I did not want to have to try to take the belt off and remove the drum. I had put the old timer module back on, but there is a different door switch on there now. I had also replaced a Teflon slider that had completely worn off.
@@ApartmentMaintenance Yes, you are correct. I bought a kit and eventually I will open it up again and replace all of them. Also, earlier today I went to use the dryer and it wouldn't stay on again, so I just taped the start switch on. I am afraid to try to take the drum out. I can barely fit my arm in there and I would have to practice and develop the proper technique for taking the belt off and putting it back on.

How did you put tension on the belt?
Put the belt around the motor pulley & the tensioner pulley will apply the tension needed for the belt once u release the tension pulley. Thanks for watching Luis 👍

I had this exact problem and just got done changing the belt. The drum now rotates, but the problem with hitting start is still there. Any ideas?
What if its doing this but the belt is not broken?
Then it could be the start switch or the interlock switch. So your saying when you press start it will act like it wants to start then it shuts right off once you let go of the button? Try holding the start button in & see if it stays on until you let go of the start button. If it's not the start switch then it could be the interlock switch which is a switch the idler arm pressing in at the bottom of the dryer on the inside. Looking for video on how to replace to CCMR 30A Fuse
Are you referring to the 30 amp fuse on the dryer itself? If so, the fuse you referenced in your comment is not the correct fuse for the dryer. Let me know if that is what your referring to & I can give you the correct part number & location of the fuse so you can replace it. Why does the dryer shut off though? What senses the drum isn't spinning?

@@neverknowsbest. Just pull it straight off to remove the knob.

My dryer works if I hold it down but when I press that small white button inside nothing happens. What do I do?
While your holding the small white button in, press the start button and hold it in while continuing to hold the white button in. You have to hold the white button first, then press the start button and watch the drum. Thanks for watching Elise & subscribe to the channel 👍
my drum was spiining ,,,i replaced start switch & same thing,,wont stay running?????ANYONE
it could be the interlock switch which is a switch the idler arm pressing in at the bottom of the dryer on the inside. The idler arm keeps tension on the belt. There’s a switch at the bottom (on the floor of the dryer).
What if the belt works fine?
If the belt is fine that means the drum would be turning when you do the test with the door open & while holding the door switch in press the start button. That means you have a different problem than the belt. Which could be a few things but I would check the interlock switch first. It's the switch the pulley arm presses against to complete a circuit. If that switch is bad you will have the same issue but see the drum turning while doing the door switch test I mentioned. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching SnigglesOSG & Subscribe to the channel 👍
If the problem isn't the belt, what else could it be? It spins if held down
It could be the start switch, the interlock switch, or a bad motor. The interlock switch is located at the bottom right of the dryer. The idler pulley arm pushes the switch in when the belt is installed. If that switch is bad it will cut off as soon as you let go of the switch. Hope that helps. @@ApartmentMaintenance right on! It's flaky... sometimes you have to machine gun tap it to get it to stay running... sometimes it starts on the first try... sometimes not.

Don't blame China, blame corporations and govt who made the decision to take our manufacturing overseas.
I changed the belt yet it still doesnt continue after start
Check the interlock switch for continuity, it's inside the dryer at the bottom left side. The idler arm pushes the switch in to close the circuit when the belt has tension on it. If that switch is bad or if the idler arm isn't pushing the switch in, the same thing will happen as your describing. Thanks for watching Joshua & Subscribe to the channel 👍

What’s the bulb wattage etc.

Hey Donnie, hope your doing well. It's been awhile! Thanks for watching as always 👍
👍
@@ApartmentMaintenance Update #3: I don't know what happened, but a day or two after my original posts, the problem seems to have resolved itself. That's a good thing because I did not want to have to try to take the belt off and remove the drum. I had put the old timer module back on, but there is a different door switch on there now. I had also replaced a Teflon slider that had completely worn off.
@@rareTVbrad It's a drum slide, 2 white & 2 green. Should replace all 4
@@ApartmentMaintenance Yes, you are correct.
Thank you for the informative video. 👍🏻
