In 1997 during Dale Earnhardt's mysterious lapse at Darlington, Dillon substituted in the car. He also made another Cup start at California in 1998 in the RCR 31 for an injured Mike Skinner. He was also a routine test driver for the team. That Detroit Gasket 72 sure looked nice though
Great video Zach! I absolutely love this series. Side Note: Mike Dillon also ran one cup race in 1998 at Fontana, substituting for an injured Mike Skinner in the #31 Lowes Chevrolet. He finished 35th, eleven laps down(He also drove in relief for Dale Earnhardt after his mysterious blackout during the 1997 Southern 500. He brought the #3 home 85 laps down in 30th).

This was such a bizarre race. The power outage was wild, and TNN did an amazing job to get it back going. Also its so strange how Mike Dillon & Ed Barrier were the 2 best cars! But overall, Mike Dillon was one of the worst drivers ever in the Busch Series. He mostly had rides because of Richard CHildress. He was not very talented and wrecked a lot. He got ride after ride and never did much with it.
