Your videos are far & few in between but I love these videos. I started watching racing in 1993 and became a huge Jay Sauter fan when he drove that black and green 1 car on TNN ASA races
Glad you enjoy them! Would love to put more out, but like to focus on quality and tell stories that interest me; that and work keeps me busy for sure. I miss the TNN days, so much awesome racing in that era!
I’ll give you another idea for a video. Dave Marcis struggled for years from the late 80’s as an independent racer into the early 2000’s. He never had a quality fast car that could compete with the top 20 on regular bases. I always pulled for him at places like Bristol, both plate tracks to just finish so he could get a rare top 15 finish. Then came the 2000 Winston 500 when Richard Childress gave him a great motor for the race. Marcis qualified 9th, drove up and actually led lap 2 and ran mostly in the top 5 during the race until his motor blew around the halfway point… I was heartbroken probably worse than I have ever been to this day watching a NASCAR race knowing this guy would never prolly get this chance again & he didn’t. Either way, thanks for the videos about the small guys and a rare look at their careers
Jay was one of those drivers who looked, talked and acted the part. He was what a sponsor and an owner would want. However, he just didn't get the job done most of the time. He didn't win enough in the 3 truck, and yet again didn't impress much at RCR the 2nd time.
Kenny was a great wheel man His parents owned K&R (Kenny and Reva) Tool Rental in my neighborhood of Beech Grove (Indianapolis) He would've made a big mark in NASCAR if not for his untimely fatal accident that Friday afternoon in NH.
what i appreciate is that this series doesnt merely look at the highest finish a driver had without a win, but it instead looks at the race where they put the most together but came up short.
my main take away was mario hernandez lol. I looked him up and he only made one Busch series attempt ever, right here
He had a tough day for sure!
A real "never give up" scenario. Flat tire, one lap down, still managed to fight for a win and get a top 5.
