I love my Classic. I've had it a couple of months now and had so much fun. I've brought a boot awning so cooking undercover. I've put it down myself in torrential rain in less than 10mins. It's easy, comfy, cosy and left on the car I can go off at a moments notice.
Yeah. It’s a great bit of kit 😎👍
Some stunning scenery on that trip 👍
I’m glad you are happy with it; I must admit that I’d prefer a hotel 😂
🤣
This is awesome Dave, love it!
Cheers pal. Yeah I’m enjoying it 👍
That looks absolutely awesome, brilliant having a home from home and expanding on that freedom. I bought a boot jump for my van/car and just love the fact I can pull up and get my head down.
Nice one Dave cracking views of Scottish Highlands 👍
Big thanks Peter 👍
Nice one Dave. Roof tents are so practical and comfy... but yea they're REALLY heavy 🙂
I’ve had my eye on 1 of these for a while instead of kipping in the back of the volvo!
Love it mate. 🙌🏻
Cheers pal. Enjoying it so far ⛺️😎👍
I have a Roofbunk on my Defender, so much fun to camp with my Granddaughter, you will love it Dave 😎😎
Nice pics of Liathach and the triple buttress on Beinne Eighe, many years since I’ve been up those! Nick
Yeah, it’s stunning there Nick 😎🏴👍
That looks really good, more adventures here we go.❤ Hope your back is getting better Dave.
Thank you. I’m still on the painkillers and just trying to keep moving. Slowly getting better 👍
Looks great Dave - nice meeting you both too :) 👍👍
Was awesome to chat with you Murray. Just annoyed with myself that I didn’t get a selfie 🤳 😁👍. ATB
Brilliant Dave, the worlds your oyster now mate. 😀⛰🥾🏕️🚗
Pleased to see Allen on that photo. I sure miss his Lake District videos. Which only means that you moved up a rung or two.
There're not many who can combine great filming, stunning drone footage, information, a friendly waffle with a pinch of dry humour and perfect soundtracks to videos that make us want to see more. 🎉
Not once have I been disappointed. Keep them coming. Please.
Das war die ultimative Lobhudelei.
Oh right, the tent looks great!
🤣 moved up a rung or two 🤣👍
@@TheSoloSummiteer I could hardly say, your videos are the best, could I? That wouldn't be nice towards all the others.
Cracking and cuffed for you. Happy adventures. Cheers Sel and Tracey
Big thanks guys 🙏🏻
I'm expecting an ultimate handyman video for this installation 😂😂😂
🤣👍
It must be nice to afford luxury like that. it looks pretty nice.
Dwayne
Not even a Hiileberg ! 😀😀. Looks great Dave.
Watching a great number of your videos and the pack weights you’ve carried up those hills, I’m surprised you didn’t just stick some shoulder straps onto it and then chuck on your back😁 very nice.
🤣👍
👍
Oohhh... I sense a European road trip coming on 😁😁😁😁😁😉
Haha. Maybe 😁
“Hi I’m Dave and have a Tent problem” 😂 No red wine holder? Honestly, looks great and I assume for road travels as not portable. I only hear good things and seeing more of these at the Lakes Campsites. The thermal inner is a must for Scotland! Thanks for sharing your experience. Take Care!
Cheers Colin. Yeah, certainly not replacing my mountain camps with this. Just helps me out on the longer trips at short notice where I’m unable to get accommodation. ATB
Brilliant bit of kit Dave
Something new to try out, I can't see me ever camping on top of a car I like my tents to much but will be interesting to see how you get on with it 👍 ATB
I’ve certainly not got this to replace my camping trips. More to compliment them and give me more options when travelling distances. ATB
Nice Dave you lucky man.
Hi Dave fantastic roof tent. Only problem is driving the car up the side of a mountain 🏔 happy camping. Jc 😁👊🏻🇬🇧
😁⛰️👍
looks really good
Looks a quality bit of kit that Dave
😎👍
That looks the business Dave, I can’t afford a campervan atm so I’ve been considering one of these too. The mk2 version looks more aerodynamic than my neighbour’s original tent box with the cover.
I’m the same with the van Robin. It’s early days yet but have had 12 consecutive nights in it and it’s brilliant. ATB
@@TheSoloSummiteer Can definitely see me getting one, been a few times I’ve wanted to head up north the night before for an early start but car camping is a faff 😄
👍
Awesome bit of kit but!! What happens when it's pissing with rain? You climb up the ladder wet and soaking the inside of tent internals.. A proper roof tent with a zip on annexe is needed especially one where the ladder is inside. These tents are great for nice weather only.. Health and happiness to enjoy your purchase 👍👍
It’s irrelevant as I only go out in good weather 🤣👍
@@TheSoloSummiteer Kinda limits your use then. So you go camping today in the sunshine and stay inside the tent the next day if it's raining!!🙈 You'd have been better off sleeping in the car and saving yourself £2k..😂🤪 👍👍 Best wishes to you and your's..
I understand what you’re saying David. At the end of the day it’s just another tent and I’ve had many a night in wet weather in my tents, even a few in this one. It’s just a matter of being organised. I’m not a camp site camper so don’t think I’ll be bothering with an awning but who knows, time will tell. My biggest concern is finding out where I can pitch up on my travels without using camp sites. It may not work out for me but I just wanted to give it a try. ATB 👍
Hi Dave, wrap some cloth over the metal ends of the bungee,if wind gets hold of them they could crack your windows
Cheers Steve. I really don’t think they will come off and they’re above the height of the glass 👍
Well done mate. Cracking idea and actually a really enjoyable video (seeing you at home base camp). NB. Was lifting the box on the car roof what led to you doing your back in??. God Bless.
No Chris. I did it opening my car door having just got back to my car after a mountain camp in Glencoe. Although that was after 12 nights consecutive in the roof tent. And driving 1500 miles in under two weeks. And completing the Everest Apex event the weekend before 🤦🏻♂️
@TheSoloSummiteer You're a legend Dave. You put the rest of us to shame. Take care and hope you're starting to feel on the mend.
Need some sort of hoist in the garage if the car fits in with the roof tent on to get it of and on when not using it
That would be great Steve but car won’t fit in my garage
Good bit of kit that is, like that! 🙌🏻
Like you say though, bit pricey at £2.2k…😬
Although looks like your getting some really good use out of it already, Dave. 👍🏻
Yeah. Had 12 consecutive nights in it already 👍
Aye. Seem great quality 😎👍
Bored Man Outdoors got one a few months ago Dave
Ahh. I’ll check it out David 👍
What will they think of next? All the best Dave!
Nice one Dave. So when are you taking air bnb bookings🤣
😁👍
Wow Dave looks great i have been trying to sway my mrs into getting one before your vlog now i really want one they do make slightly larger ones , i was wondering why you picked this one above the others ? apart from price ,and sone of the otheres are a bit lighter 50kg . brill vlog as always ,
and your last two vlogs have been great , though both looked hard graft to get to your locations
looking forwards to your next outing tent or tent box .
Glad you enjoyed it. I wanted one that was the same footprint as the car and quick to set up. The Classic 2 fits the bill. It also folds away nicely into the hard shell; a bit like a roof box. The others are bigger and fold out at the side of the car which I didn’t want or need. ATB 😁👍
Only thing that concerns me about these is the weight of the roof box plus two adults, I have a 2020 CRV and the max roof load capacity is only 75kgs on my car which really is 11 stones max which is nowhere near enough capacity to be safe, I feel its exceeding the weight for the roof rails we decided against a roof tent for this reason , but I wish you lots of happy trips away in it.
Yeah, the dynamic roof capacity on the CRV is 75kg. The static capacity can be up to 5x this. I’ve changed my roof bars and it’s really solid. How do you find the 2020 CRV? I’ve been looking at them myself, the hybrid ones. ATB
@@TheSoloSummiteer its the Hybrid AWD I have, its OK , huge boot ,lots of storage cubbies its not particularly economical as I hoped on the Motorway great around town, changing it in January thinking about a Toyota RAV next time, Hondas servicing is overly expensive for me as the car ages don't bother with the AWD its very light weight and not as economical as the FWD nor does it have a spare wheel or anywhere to store one which is really stupid IMO.
Brilliant marra you will enjoy it ive had mine all while and it's the best thing I've bought love it just gives you more wings to travel without planning or if you travel and can't get a spot class watched you hellvelyn vid with the lads topper well done pal good event
I just looked up the price! Holy crap!!!!
Aye 🤣
Way cheaper than a van tho 🚐 👍
@@TheSoloSummiteer Unless you're "Black Crag" - do you watch his channel?
@@Rick-pv3ye no
I've been trying to talk the mrs into us getting a roof top tent for a while. The challenge is that she hates camping. "I don't want to shit in a trench" 😂
Oh. Think you might struggle with that one Simon 😁👍
I’ve been looking at one of these for a while, are they warm enough in the winter ?
Not sure yet Russell. That’s why I got the thermal inner so I can use it in winter. The lowest temperature I’ve seen so far is about 0degC outside and it was pretty snug inside; although I am a wild camper used to winter mountain camping so I guess it depends what you’re used to.
Didn't look at Alp Kit?
They weren’t available at the time and TentBox had great reviews and 5yr warranty. I’m really impressed with the quality so far.
Nice Dave 👍🏻 I’ve got one. It’s great - it’s just a shame you’ve got to be the Worlds Strongest Man to get it on and off the roof of your car 😬
Haha. I know. No way one person could do it 🥵
@@TheSoloSummiteer It’s the one thing about ours that I really don’t like. The wife isn’t strong enough to help me lift 50kg + over her head. I have to ask a neighbour for help - which just makes it all more hassle than it’s worth 😏 Are you leaving yours on your car permanently? I’d recommend locking nuts / bolts. Theres a few reports of them being nicked.
Yeah it is a hassle as I live on my own. I’m planning to leave it on as it’s just not convenient to keep taking it off. I’ve heard about them being stolen. I’ve fitted the lock nuts and have security cameras. Not much more I can do really.
I expect they are great for fine weather camping but getting up into it when you're wet through and wearing wet clothing should prove interesting.
Yeah know what you mean but that’s camping eh. It’s still a tent after all. I’ve used it in heavy rain and its fine. You just need to be organised.
That’s birker fell sinking an extra 10 centimetres per year then 😉
🤣
